I loved my stay at Clegs. I opted for a standard room. It didn't have a bathroom in the room, but there were four bathrooms I could choose to use outside the room. The hotel was quiet, and when I checked in, the guy at the front desk was so nice. I love apples, so I was happy to see that there were apples 🍎 by the entrance on my way out I grabbed one every morning. They do have coffee and other goodies as well. All in all, I will be back. I will try the suites with kitchens and bathrooms. Great affordable place to stay.

Really friendly attentive and laid back staff. You can tell they care about the place and guests. Always greeted with a smile. Clean (larger than expected)ac room and frequently cleaned bathrooms. I was nervous about the shared situation but it wasn’t a issue, and they have enough of them I never felt rushed. Great price, location from beach , water taxis and ferry. Bikes included with stay, helped us explore such a beautiful area. Again the staff are so welcoming I’d definitely come back to Cleggs. Thanks y’all for the good time! See you again soon!

I hesitate to leave to a review for fear of revealing a hidden treasure that I have, quite frankly, kept to myself. Clegg’s is nothing fancy and everything amazing. If you’re visiting Ocean Beach for its true glory, and just want a safe affortable abode, then Clegg’s is it. Where else can one stay for under $300 USD, have access to bikes, beach chairs, and a friendly cup of morning Joe with sweet pastry…all with the wonderful island guide and office manager, Tyler. NOTE: Expect little, receive abundance.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Cleggs over Labor Day weekend and it was great! I was worried about the shared bathrooms (especially during COVID) but they were kept clean and sharing really wasn’t a problem, overall people were pretty respectful. The room was clean and larger than I thought with plenty of space for our things. It was cozy and decorated really cute. They offered beach chairs and bikes which we took full advantage of and Tyler was awesome-always pleasant, super helpful and had great recommendations, just a really nice guy!Lastly Cleggs, is in the heart of all the action so the location is prime! If you want to enjoy the island for a few days and can’t afford a house or (don’t want to share one) I highly recommend Cleggs! We’ll be back for sure :)

It’s okay. You are right where the action is. And it’s really not for people that will stay indoors or those that want luxury. If you’ve been to overly priced hostels in Paris or these old old towns in the Czech Republic, you would get it. It’s an old sailor’s cabin. It’s not meant to be comfortable or luxurious. But it’s right there where the restaurants are. Right by the ferry stop. It is the cheapest when booked in advance and it is most likely available when booked last minute. Bathrooms aren’t private but it’s okay as there are a lot of them. It’s good enough for people who just wants a room right away to sleep in and then go out the whole day at the beach. Now if you want to have a luxurious getaway with amenities. Take your 300+ per night. Don’t go to fire island because you want find one here. It’s just not possible. Cleggs is it. Unless you’re okay to pay 500+ for slightly better

We watch Hotel Impossible to find hotels we would like to stay on vacation. We always follow-up reading online reviews before making travel plans. It is obvious Tyler did not take Anthony's recommendations and invest in improving his grandfather's hotel. There were also some very suspicious reviews. Too many opposing views, 1 vs 5. Your place is no longer a consideration.

Wish they allowed negative stars. Disgusting room had mold and unknown stains on the wall and bed. The towels were smelly and had stains. The bathroom was shared and very dirty. The room ac failed 3 times during my 4 day stay. Room was very overpriced. No bikes were ever available during my stay. Do not stay here, it's a disgrace to Fire Island.

Clegg's pretty much met our expectations - no frills, but a comfortable stay at a good price. Can't really beat that on Fire Island if you don't have a house or rental. They offer clean towels, toiletries, and bikes/beach equipment to use. And our room had it's own AC.

I needed a place to crash for the night and decided to go to Cleggs. I'm glad I did, very nice place and a nice staff to boot. The room I got was very spacious and I loved the view. Nice king size bed as well as a huge flat screen tv. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends. Very reasonable rates for everything they offer....a steal if you ask me.

What you'd expect from a hostel for the price of a holiday inn. The beach picture on the website is very misleading considering the hotel is on the other side of the island. All the rooms share 4 minimal bathrooms with one-ply toilet paper. The "free continental breakfast" is one pitcher of orange juice, whipped cream, a few bagels, mini muffins, and a few pastries. All in all, I went in with low expectations and was still dissappointed.

The owner should close the „thing called Hotel“ and do the constructions that he promised to the world in „Hotel Impossible“! They gave him 7 bycicles, the interior designer has renovated the only room with private bathroom, they made a designer gift, an architect made new plans for renovation, both worth more than $ 150’000. He did not care about this great gift!No wonder that it is still the worst hotel on Fire Island!

not the best and not the worst. they have two types of rooms, hostel style and hotel style. hostel rooms lack bathrooms and kitchens with fridge. shared bathrooms were sevicable. It's only 15 feet from the ferry port which is good and they have bikes for rent as well.

Cleggs Hotel is a Great Little Escape for a night on Fire Island , Beach Atmosphere , Affordable and Spotless . Friendly Accommodating Staff , Tyler was our Main Man , From my first phone call with him regarding our reservation to meeting us on our arrival , Making sure all our needs were met including dropping ice to our Room , Cleggs are lucky to have him !! Great deal with beach chairs and Bikes Included ,Will be back .....

Just beside the ferry terminal, no need to walk far, close to the store and restaurants area, and board walks by the marina. Simple, good for budget travelers looking for a short stay.

After watching the coverage of this place on TV, I would never stay here. This is a disgusting place with an owner who doesn't care about people coming to visit. Typical NY attitude. Keep this nasty looking place off your list of places to visit.
