It’s about time I leave a review here! St. Francis truly loves their furry patients. Everyone from the receptionists, to vet techs and doctors.. they have shown nothing but love and compassion for my dog Yuki from the beginning and to the very end. They do not see your pet as just another case. They are not heartless nor do they see their practice as strictly business like I’ve experienced in the past with my childhood dog. If you’re looking for compassionate and knowledgeable doctors and staff, do take your pet here. Thank you for taking care of Yuki. And thank you for calling to offer condolences. We love you guys!P.s The ellevet Dr. Ruffano recommended was a game changer for Yuki. Combined with her veggie and chicken diet with her prescription food, I believe that brand of CBD kept her vibrant and young even as a super senior. No other CBD did that for her. Thank you so much.

I can’t say enough great things about the Drs and Staff. They’re all extremely welcoming, caring and concerned for all pets that come in. The front desk staff is always quick, cheerful and helpful with any questions or concerns that we have. The Drs and the Techs are always caring towards our pets and do a great job putting them at ease during visits. They also are very thorough with their explanations and concerns they have with our pets.

Dr. Tom Polehinke and his entire staff have the most dedicated and compassionate team I’ve ever seen.You can tell everyone at Saint Francis has a deep love for all animals and will go beyond to ensure you and your furry family member(s) have the best visit possible. And can make even the most nervous animal feel safe during their time there.They provide great advise, recommendations, and services so your pet(s) live a long, healthy, and happy life.Cannot recommend them enough. My little menaces and I will never go anywhere else!

Friendly staff, prices not bad..They have a separate dog entrance and cat entrance to the building so they don't have to be in the same waiting room! The doctor took her time and explained everything and was very gentle and understanding of our nervous puppies. They are kind and always ask how they are when I call for prescription renewals or if I have a question. The doctors and staff are just wonderful, caring people that you can tell love the animals they care for! I highly recommend this vet!

They are amazing! Hope, our Frenchton, was taken care through her puppyhood at St. Francis by Dr. Polenhike. We cannot thank him and the staff enough for such care and abundance of communication on every visit. We moved away and we will greatly miss St. Francis!

I recently switched to this office and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. The front desk staff is an absolute pleasure to deal with, accommodating for the appointment times and they always follow up after the appointment as well to make sure everything went ok and the animal is feeling better. The doctors took the time to get to know my dog, let her sniff around the room and get familiar with the office, I never felt rushed, which is very important to me. I look forward to a long standing relationship with this vets office!

My cat had a double year infection. I have not been to Saint Francis since 2016. I need an urgent follow up for my cat. They were able to see her within two days with a scheduled appointment! I couldn’t ask for a better care for my cat when we arrived. Best vet on Long Island!

I think the Vet was very thorough and good. The previous Vet was not competent. She never gave us the ear medication, but rather an ear cleaner. Buddy has had ongoing issues with 1 ear. The new Vet cultured the ear and discovered it was a fungus, and treated it’s such.My other issue is the pricing. It is quite higher than many Vets in the area. Almost. $1000. Including his meds. He did receive good care, no doubt.

Dr. Parendo has highly exceeded my expectations since he has become the Veterinarian of my 4 beloved dogs. He is warm-hearted, compassionate, meticulous & has never rushed me thru any appointment, & answering all of my questions, so that I left with a full understanding and satisfaction. Dr. Parendo's surgical skills, I would also like to add, are truly 2nd to none. I recently rushed my 8 y/o Rat Terrior in at 3:30 pm for emergency tx. recently. Dr. Parendo could have easily turned me away, and sent us to VMCLI for emergency surgery, but he didn't. My boy today is healing amazingly, and I cannot but Thank the quick response of Dr. Parendo's excellent team, and the Dr. himself for the long & pristine surgery he performed on my boy. Surely another Vet could easily have sent our extremely complicated and highly sensitive case to a Surgical Specialist immediately, yet Dr. Parendo, is highly-confident & highly-versed in his field of veterinary medicine and highly skilled. I could not Thank him along with his competent, caring, & well-seasoned team of Vet. Techs. & front staff, more than enough. All & all, I am very grateful & blessed to have my fur children under the guise and care of St. Francis Hospital for Animals in Oakdale, NY., and I highly recommend this practice to anyone coming into the area or just looking for an above average Veterinarian hospital for their beloved fur pet. Because after all, they are our family, and our family, deserves nothing less than the very best!

We have been going here for a long as I can remember. With the original vets retirement (Dr.S and Dr.I) I still have that great confidence in Dr. P. The staff is always great and helpful. Well worth the ride for us and we live on the north shore. My wife has been in animal rescue for over 20 years and loves St. Francis as much as do. We always have multiple animals, and they are all treated amazing.

This place is the best! I brought my two kittens, Enzo and Luca here to follow up an emergency vet visit, where I was told that Luca (3 months old) was in heart failure. From the moment I called and told them our situation, they were accommodating and were able to get both my babies in a week later. Knowing that Luca had a slew of issues, they obtained the medical records from VMC and were privy to our situation coming into the appointment. Not only were they prepared, the staff themselves were caring, gentle and treated my babies with the utmost respect. They hugged, cuddled and played with my babies to calm them down. Dr. P is one of the best doctors I’ve ever met. He played with Enzo and Luca upon meeting them and had the assistant give them treats while he conducted his thorough examinations. My babies were happy and comfortable there. Furthermore, Dr. P was so detailed and communicative. He showed me Luca’s X-rays and explained everything and what it meant. It turns out that Luca may have had myocarditis but reacted well to medication and is now a healthy kitty! I would recommend this place to anyone. Dr. P and his staff demonstrated a true love for animals and that’s all I could ask for in a veterinarian.

Saint Francis is by far the best vets office on the island, I bring all of my animals here for 4 years now. One of my pups is a Dog Meat Trade survivor who is extremely fearful of people and can be difficult to deal with and they are always super understanding, handle her with care and make sure she's as comfortable as possible. The vet will never recommend anything she wouldn't use to treat her own animals which I always appreciate. They even sent us a sympathy card with our senior kitties paw print after she passed 10/10 great people.

I went yesterday for the first time. I was not happy with what I was paying at another vet in the area. I felt like I was always being sold services, products, & vaccines that my dog didn't need.But then I met Dr Nicole Rufrano !!! She was Amazing with my lil nervous dachshund. First & foremost she made sure he was comfortable and then reviewed all of his records thoroughly.I am so Happy we went & we will be a life long patient !
