I got Minnie 13 years ago. She was 3 years old and a Yorkie. This is a long life for a Yorkie. She was a good friend to my daughter and a loyal companion to me. We just lost š her to old age. Thank you for giving us such a wonderful dog that loved everyone. This was her last picture. She was happy and disheveled after running around with the kids, at Otsenango Park. I occasionally babysit these children. She loved when we went to the park and had a picnic. She would steal š¤«š chicken nuggets (her favorite indulgence). Our hearts are breaking. We hope to find another like her. ā¤ļø

First time we ever used the SPCA and it was a great experience. Would recommend it to everyone to get your new fur baby from a SPCA.

Adopted my cat about a year ago from this shelter and would definitely adopt from here again. All of the animals seemed well socialized with others, and people. Kittens were litter-trained, and played nice (did not scratch or bite). The staff members were very nice and helpful and adoption fees are low!

Love this shelter! All the staff members were SO sweet and also so informative. When we arrived we were honestly there for a few hours just meeting all the kitty cats and trying to decided which would be best for our home. We ended up with this little ray of sunshine, Blair. The process was smooth, easy and I love that they had a very detailed screening process before being accepted to adopt. So many great animals! I wish I could of adopted every single one of them!

Amazing staff at this facility! We stopped by because they had a Little Free library, and we were asked if we wanted to read to the cats! As a disclosuresā¦I am not a big fan of cats! But the staff there created a creative clean and welcoming enclosure and there were about ten cats and my kids had a great time reading to the cats! Highly recommend this wonderful experience!

It looks as though to animals are well taken care of, which is most important of course. But they're employees aren't kind, friendly or approachable. Next time I try to do anything with a shelter, I'll gladly drive the extra few miles to Cooperstown. If you hate your job that much, you shouldn't work there.

First off, if I could give them a negative 10, I would! We were very interested in adopting a Boston terrier from them, and completed the online form for adoption. We were asked to have a meet and greet a couple days after, and asked to bring our two Boston terrierās with us so we could see how the interaction would go. Everything was set, and we arrived as asked. We were told we had to wait, as another participant was in meeting with the dog ( Dobby) , but not a problem. We were greeted by the nice, I (believe vet tech) and she was going in to get the puppy, so we could start the introduction . Everything seemed to be going great, and all the dogs did very well together. The vet tech kept telling us that she had not seen (Dobby) interact with anyone like he had with us. She was going to put in a great word for us, but it was Dobby who was going to pick his family, which we were told by the way he reacted to us it probably would be us! All well and good, only one hurdle we would have to cross to give this baby the home he was looking for. We were up front and honest and informed them we were going to be gone the following week, but could pick him up on the Saturday upcoming. The vet tech kind of reassured us this probably wouldnāt be a problem, so we were happy. Upon leaving my wife went in to talk with the staff ( who probably should work in the stockroom) as they had no interest in this and Dobby needed to leave quickly. Why was this? A few more days in the kennel, and he would be heading to a home and environment he clearly chose, not the person at the front desk, choosing for him. I will look in to see what can be done with such a organization, that clearly has no concerns about where they place their animals up for adoption. This was a heart breaking experience, and feel someone should step in to assure things like this are not going to happen again.

The Staff work really hard to make sure these animals are taken well care of. They are very friendly and eager to help these animals find furever homes.

I gave this place a 3 star. The place is nice and clean. Animals viewed were well kept. The associated were very friendly and helpful. Great parking lot. Handicap should have no problem . But the reason for the 3 star was when asked what do you do to adopted a pet. The associate said you must fill out an application. No problem. But then they said we will have to run a background check. That check was way to involved to get a cat or dog. The last time I had a background check that extensive was when I was being checked for a secret clearance in the government. I would have no problem passing it, but come on, it's to adopt a pet, not a secret clearance check.

ASPCA they seem doing the right thing by the animals are there well taken care of it was one thing the receptionist when you first go in not very nice who's there was a lady who came in and sets a receptionist I'm here to pick up my dog Simpsons looked at at her start the left very rudely find out one of the people that work there wanting to adopt that dog but not the right reason it took 5 days to find p 7days the SPCA the dog would go up adoption and they were rude to this woman p it made me uncomfortable people need to learn how to treat other people respect kindness and compassion is very sad today that people don't treat other people with respect

This place seems pretty nice. I've only delt with them once but my overall experience with this place was fine. They seen like they care for the pets in their care so that's nice. They are a cash only place so if your looking to adopt keep that in mind. But overall seem fine.

Staff very pleasant and helpful. The cats area was very nicely set up. Only thing I would may be modify a little is having the dog kennels a little farther back a way from the main area/front desk. Very hard to talk, hear if someone is back with the dogs. Also, clean.

We recently adopted a dog from this shelter. She had been there for 5 months, had puppies who were all adopted and had regular vet care as seen from her records. The staff was very helpful in letting us spend time with several dogs and providing background on them. We had a very positive experience.

Being a monthly supporter of the ASPCA,I AM NOT IMPRESSED!I had someone drop off a kitten at our house. It happened on a Friday and I contacted the Humane Society in Norwich immediately. The first girl told me that she talked to the supervisor and that they would take the kitten even though they were, "Over Capacity."I called back Saturday and talked to a Becky informed her of our situation and again confirmed with the person who I spoke with that they would take the kitten.I provided them with my name, adress, and a return number Friday and Saturday. Finally after trapping the kitten in a live trap I drove over fifteen miles for them to not have any of my provided information or log of my calls. They very politely lied to my face and would not receive the abandoned kitten. My wife and I then we're forced to drive to our veterinary clinic and pay for antibiotics, flea medicine and a office fee.AS A DIRECT RESULT OF THEIR DISHONEST APPROACH AND HANDLING OF MY CASE I WILL BE WITHDRAWING MY MONTHLY DONATION TO THE ASPCA.As aresult I would not recommend this facility as a reliable source of assistance.Furthermore they should be ashamed.Sincerely,David and Donna

We loved the Chenango SPCA. We adopted our cat (formerly Clarke, now Sophie) from there. The staff was very patient and let us browse for as long as we liked. There was a wide variety of cars and dogs to choose from. The adoption process was not too bad, paperwork, a phone call to the landlord to make sure we were ok to have pets and an appointment with our future vet to make sure our kitty was well. They WILL NOT allow you to adopt an unaltered cat or dog until it is altered. Overall very happy with our furbaby and our experience adopting at the SPCA.

Happy Kitty, Happy Family. The people at the SPCA in Norwich, NY were very helpful and acted in a professional and friendly manner to make sure our Misty was going to a good home. I would prefer to adopt from a facility like here that makes sure the adopting person is a good person and fit for the animal than someone who may have a history of animal abuse or is not a responsible owner. And to my knowledge they are now a no kill facility. Thank you, we love our sweet new baby!!!

We highly reccomend adopting a pet from this SPCA. 17 years ago we had adopted a magnificent German Shepherd mix pup that had been dumped on route 12 in Greene with her litter mates. There was never a dull moment with her and she was the light of our lives. Sadly she crossed over the rainbow bridge last year at the age of 16. Thank you Norwich SPCA for giving us the privilege of adopting the best dog and friend anyone could ever ask for.

Chenango SPCA is a great place to adopt pets in need of a loving careing home. The staff is always friendly and helpful. It is a very clean atmosphere and never smells bad like so many other shelters. I especially love this place as they help families with their pets to receive the care that they need, such as flea prevention and pet foods. Look them up on Facebook or visit them someday!

The only complaints I see in these reviews are from people who abandoned their pets. Shame on them. Yes, this is not a no kill shelter, but if you don't want a pet with medical issues, what makes you think someone else does? These are fine people, dealing with a flood of unwanted animals the best way they can with the limited resources available in a poor county.

I feel like they were very rude. You can fill out an application for adoption and they will never finish processing the application because they are too busy to finish. They call you with an attitude. When you call them, they have an attitude and they hang up on you. When they hang up on you, they blame that their phones were not working. Iām very disappointed on how they treat people that are going to adopt one of their animals. If they treat humans like this then how do they treat their animals when something doesnāt go right.

The place was great, nice and clean. Associates friendly and helpful. Goid parking. But they want you to jump threw hoops to adopt a pet. Paperwork, background checks. Not unlike adopting a child.

from what i have experienced with them they have a kill for convenience policy for some of the animals there! They get lots of monies and instead of saving lives of innocent animals in need they just kill a portion of them for convenience. i trusted them to find homes for them and the wanted to waste two of the three of them. could not they have made a zero star rating? i ponder the type of trash that donates and sponsors the wasting of these cats or dogs and does not wish to give that they may live instead! A no kill shelter is truly more humane than them that kill for convenience...... I made a mistake trusting them...... learn from my mistake and think very carefully before trusting these folks....this institution is the Auschwitz of animals unwanted that may be killed for profit and convenience by profiteers working in paid positions for a not for profit organization.

After deciding to adopt a cat, we tried coming here to see our options. Their window of time they are actually open is very limited and inconvenient! I had stopped in one day when there was 5 or 6 cars in the parking lot and people going in and out of the building. This led me to the crazy assumption that they were open. After attempting to get in the door, a woman comes to poke her head out and ask what I wanted! I told her I wanted to look at the cats... Seriously wondering what else one would come for!!! She said in a snotty tone that they were closed and shut the door! All I have to say is no wonder they have to kill so many animals! Maybe if they actually were open more than they were closed, they'd be able to adopt out their animals!

We have been looking for just the right cat or dog for our family and the crew at the Chenango SPCA has been really patient with us. Over the past month and a half, they've answered many, many questions and cheered us on when we decided upon an animal.
