My friend and I make wine and this place is the best. Best inventory, Best knowledge and super friendly people. The thing that makes me most partial, my buddy and I thought maybe we should get a wooden barrel and make our stuff look like it's super cool. The owner told us he can sell it to us if we really want it but if we have a batch turn to vinegar all we would have is a 345 dollar vinegar barrel. I respect that kind of honesty. Will only buy supplies there.

I have been dealing with this store since they opened......It seams they have almost everything.....As a new home brewer, I had loads of questions.These people spent significant time steering me in the right direction regarding selection of hardware and ingredients to make my first batch turn out drinkable.I have since graduated to all-grain brewing and continue to purchase my ingredients from them.I always have a great time whenever I stop by!!

I wonder if these reviews stating “friendly” were written by family members to bump the ratings. 0 stars for the service, 5 stars for the amazing store. I needed a second airlock and some more screw on caps for my batch of blueberry wine. Not wanting to wait the 2 days from amazon I figured I would explore the American Homesteader store I had seen and heard about. While the store is beautiful and the type of store I could spend hours and hundreds of dollars in, I was made to feel so uncomfortable that I spent $4 and rushed out the door. I almost handed my basket to the man following me around the store and left. I was hoping to look at cast iron pans and the amish made furniture, but the man following less than arm's length away was creeping me out so bad. Following me from one isle to the other, staring like I was going to try to stick a fermenter down my pants or something. The woman behind the counter barely acknowledged my presence, not a smile, not eye contact, nothing. Again, a beautiful store with many items I would have loved to have brought home, but I felt guilty paying the minuscule $4 I did. I’m not sure if I will ever return, sadly because it is right down the road from my employment and again this is the type of store I would usually love.
