Such a beautiful place! I stayed here for the eclipse earlier this month and I am so glad I chose here. Such a pretty backdrop to watch the eclipse on the front lawn overlooking the lake! The rooms were small but so cozy! comfortable bed, adorable rustic decor. I do wish there were a TV in the rooms. We wanted a laid back trip and to watch movies at night so we did bring a computer monitor from home and a laptop to hook it up to with our movies downloaded and it did the trick. I also do wish the walls weren’t so thin, especially as I was able to hear a droning noise the second night all night (I believe from the room’s next to us bathroom fan possibly?) but not much you can really do there. The restaurant in the lodge was great and we ate at it each night we were here! Friendly service! There was live music each night we were there as well. Not sure if that’s a common thing but it was really nice! We did make reservations but the wait was still a bit long in between getting our food and sitting down, but it wasn’t bad. Also, the breakfast buffet was amazing! Anyway, with any negatives I did write, I got engaged here during our trip and am now planning our honeymoon here as well! I can’t wait to come back.

This place is a beautiful log cabin/lodge style hotel. It's doesn't have a lot in the way of modern amenities, but it doesn't need them. Who the heck wants to sit around a hotel, watching tv in a place like the Adirondacks? There's nature to see. I'll stay in a NYC hotel for spa days and room service. There's plenty to experience outdoors here, which is the reason to come in the first place. The rooms are very clean and the staff are kind and friendly. The food is decent, if a bit expensive. We came for the eclipse and had such a nice time with the astronomer and the live music. It was a treat. Thank you, guys, for everything!

We got married here in October 2023, and it was absolutely perfect. The venue was everything that we wanted, naturally beautiful – which made décor that much easier. It was great to have the place to ourselves for the whole weekend, and all of our guests were so impressed with the views. We are from North Carolina, so they also helped out finding vendors in the area to help make the wedding day even better, and they helped us through our laundry list of questions for all things as we prepared. The big thing for us was the plethora of food allergies and restrictions we had with the guests of our wedding. They were extremely accommodating to help make sure that everyone could fully enjoy the weekend with us.We were obviously busy getting ready, so we weren’t able to enjoy the amenities, like hiking or canoeing, but our guests loved it! Every single one of our guests had nothing but rave reviews to say about the lodge and the staff that worked there. They were extremely helpful in all facets of the weekend. We have already talked about coming back for an anniversary to get our chance to enjoy all of these perks.

What a perfect venue and location! Garnet Hill recently hosted our weekend wedding and it could not have been more magical. The views are stunning, the activities fun and accessible, the rooms super comfortable, and the food truly delicious. But mostly this review is about the people. Nicole organized our planning chaos and many questions graciously and calmly. Patrick was the ultimate hike guide and regional expert. Jeff and the maintenance/grounds team were somehow always around when you needed them and incredibly helpful. Lucy and the dining room staff were awesome and put us all at ease. Paula and Ana and the rest of the reception team helped solve all sorts of small on-the-ground confusions. The whole team was great to work with and quick with a smile. We cannot recommend Garnet Hill Lodge enough and we cannot wait to make it part of our annual vacation plan. Honestly, this was a much longer and more glowing review, but my husband made me adjust it so it didn't sound like we were paid to write it :)

We had a lovely stay at the Garnet Hill Lodge! We stayed in a family room in the Tea House, down the road from the main lodge. It was clean, quiet, and had a separate room for the kid. An added bonus was the in-room sauna! We loved the complimentary full breakfast each morning. They included fixings to make sandwiches for lunch as well, which is great if you plan to hike, swim or boat in the area, as most other eateries are a several miles drive away. The location is absolutely stunning, with views of the mountains and 13-mile lake. The landscaping at the lodge is very well kept and absolutely gorgeous. I would have been content to plop down in an Adirondack chair and sit there all day, however, we went whitewater rafting, which was also fabulous. The Garnet Hill Lodge is a bit of a splurge, but well worth it!

I was recommended to visit this place and thought I'd start the day there with a hearty breakfast. Well, turns out that they (usually) don't serve breakfast to anyone other than guests, and I was not. However, the very sweet hostess went to the back, talked to the chef and I was seated and served with a smile.Thank you so much for your hospitality, especially when you did not have to do that. That is a great example of customer service at its best. I will definitely reserve a night or 2 the next time I'm in the area.If you're looking to get out of the fray, come to Garnet Hill and basque in the surrounding natural beauty.

My husband and I got married at Garnet Hill Lodge on September 23, 2023. We could not have asked for or envisioned a more perfect venue and experience then what we had at Garnet Hill Lodge. We and our 70 guests stayed Friday afternoon through Sunday morning and had an incredible wedding weekend. Nicole and her team were absolutely amazing in every way. The staff were attentive, friendly and efficient. Our guests were complimenting the service at every meal. The front desk staff could not have made the check in process more easy for our guests staying onsite. When we had to unexpectedly move some guest rooms on Friday night due to unforeseen circumstances with an offsite rental, Ana was extremely helpful and efficient with helping with this process. Every meal we had during our stay was fantastic. The breakfast buffet was plentiful, the BBQ buffet Friday night was a hit and the reception food was unreal. We opted for the reception food to be buffet style and it worked out perfectly for our guests. The kitchen were more then accommodating for our dietary restricted guests and also labeled and food allergies with each deal. Coffee, tea, and water were always available in the lobby for our guests. Our guests were never bored and took full advantage of the lake, mountain bikes and the beautiful back porch. Special thanks to Patrick for taking 38 of our guests on a guided hike to Hooper Mine on Saturday morning. Even my 86 year old grandfather was able to participate! Thank you to Nicole, Lucy, Patrick, Ana, Paula, Erin, Kristen and everyone else who worked tirelessly the entire weekend to make our experience amazing. Everything from the decor, to the food, to the service, to the facilities were outstanding. If you are looking to have a wedding that is private and more then just the traditional 6-8 hours, I cannot recommend Garnet Hill Lodge enough. Staying the whole weekend with our guests gave us time to relax, talk individually with every attendee and more importantly, spend uninterrupted time as just the two of us. Our guests left saying it was best wedding they had ever been to!

My daughter’s wedding was here, and we had the entire lodge for the weekend. Every amenity was thought out perfectly, the staff were helpful and friendly, and especially the night of the wedding , they put up with a lot -with smiles and a sense of humor. Especially Lucy at the bar, (we love you Lucy you were great!) The food was delicious, The rooms were comfortable with amazing views, and the outdoor areas were spectacular. This place is amazing! My husband and I want to go back soon for a romantic weekend! Well done Garnet Hill!

So before I get into my review, I can now say happily that I finally saw a Moose in the wild while staying at Garnet Lodge! It was so cool!!! A big bull moose was on the side of the road heading up the mountain to the Lodge, I was blown away. So so so cool. Now to the review - My wife and I got married at Garnet Hill last weekend, and we could not be happier with how everything went through the entire process. Jessica is an absolute pleasure to work with, and is fantastic at what she does w/ wedding coordination. She gave us a lot of recommendations for all the little aspects of a wedding (photographer, dj, officiant, cake, etc) that really helped us out getting to the alter! The actual wedding was just perfect. They worked with us through spotty weather to make sure everything was exactly as my wife had hoped. They have a beautiful lodge that was decorated so nicely, the servers were excellent, the dining room captain/bartender (apologies for forgetting her name) was attentive, friendly, funny, and knew what she was doing, and the food came out excellent.Every single guest was beyond blown away by the views of the mountains surrounding the lodge, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and everything went above and beyond our expectations.I am so happy my wife discovered this gem in the mountains, so happy we decided to get married here, and just so happy. This place is an incredibly special place. Thank you Garnet Hill and especially Jessica!

Went for a friend's wedding and stayed 3 nights. All the staff was super friendly and helpful. Our tour guide Patrick was super knowledgeable on our guided hike. I would go back in a heart beat for that view ❤️Nearby activities: So many things in the Adirondacks to do! There are lovely hiking trails in site, the lake to swim and boat in. Nearby in town are rail biking and tubing.Food & drinks: Food was so yummy!

Perfect gem at the top of the mountain. This was our 17th winter visit in 20 years and Garnet hill never disappoints. Trails, food, hospitality are excellent. The historic lodge is comfy, clean, and rooms and bathrooms are updated. WiFi even good these days. Wow. I’m reluctant to share only because I feel like it’s my secret happy place. Sue

Went to this location for a snowshoe race. I did not enter the lodge for rent equipment. That being said, the place is lovely! It's off-the-beaten-track, the trails are well-groomed, and the staff is incredibly polite and helpful!Safety: During the race one of the ski patrols are almost always visible!Walkability: Very well-groomed trails for snowshoes and cross country skiing!

(Original review with images on booking.com)Liked · The view was very nice in the mornings from the dining area. We went when it was a bit chilly and the fog settled on the hilltops and that looked beautiful. The general aesthetic of the place was very cabin-like, which was charming. Their breakfast was delicious and their dinner was very tasty. The bed was soo comfortable! Paula, the lady at reception was sweet, and the young woman at the outdoor center was very helpful in printing us out hiking trails upon request. We enjoyed the kayaking a lot, very tranquil.Disliked · We got a room with very high windows. Being 5'0", I wasn't able to ANYTHING. With so much space, to offer a room with no view?! At least when we stayed in Taiwan, the description would say so. The pictures for this room showed windows and we didn't get any so I felt cheated. Also, we should have done our research but our room also didn't have a TV, which I get because of nature retreat, so in the future, just request a room with one. We were suggested one trail by the charming lady at the outdoor center, except it was double the projected length and we were beat and tired and all we wanted to was watch TV and could only from our tablets. The bed was comfortable if you look past the stained throw pillows. I know we didn't have to use them, but it was concerning that they wouldn't just change them. The sofa's in the lobby look like they could be in those satisfying videos of the magic of powerwash. UP TO INTERPRETATION: My BF and I are clearly Hispanic, and everyone else... well isn't. Every time we would go have breakfast, dinner, or go to the private beach, which is an amenity to this stay, we were constantly being asked for our room number. MORE THAN ONCE! (Like they didn't believe it or something) A caucasian couple came in after us at breakfast and they didn't ask them for the room number AT ALL, so I'll just leave it at that. It could have been that they had a longer stay than ours and remembered them. At our second breakfast stay, we decided to stay in a bit later than yesterday to see if they could deduct from the people already at breakfast which room we were in. A blond woman gave us a double look, asked us for the room number, again, after her colleague has already gotten ours. At the beach, the girl had asked us once, and then again 2 min after to confirm the room number, I was already fed up so we left.

This is one of those hidden gems that encourage smiles and warm memories. You wouldn't know that it's there if you're just driving through the area, but in terms of places to stay and potential venue opportunities, it really is one of the Adirondacks' own special locations. I've photographed multiple locations here and am always amazed by the setting, scenery, and service. The staff here cares about every aspect of your stay or your event (or both). It's got views, amenities, and ambiance. The wedding photography I've produced here is amongst some of my favorites, and as a longtime Adirondack fanatic, I love coming here.

Garnet Hill Lodge provided us with a wedding experience that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. Leading up to our weekend, the venue coordinator, Jessica, was extremely responsive and helpful with answering our numerous questions, clarifying details, and guiding us along our planning process to ensure the details we had envisioned would all come together. This extended to the wedding weekend itself, when the team at GHL provided us with an outstanding experience, including (but not limited to!) the venue coordinator, Jessica, the dining room captain, Lucy, the head bartender, Erin, and the caretaker/hike leader/outdoor bartender, Patrick. All of the staff at GHL were extremely positive to work with, making a weekend full of logistical hurdles feel like a team effort to throw a perfect party. Additionally, the lodge and grounds provided an unbeatable setting. The lawn, with expansive mountain and lake views, was the perfect setting for our ceremony, cocktail hour, bonfire, and mingling space for our guests to meet and enjoy each other’s company. The newly-constructed, screened in pavilion provided an incredible space to dance the night away under fairy lights hung from the wood beams. The main dining room of the lodge provided the perfect rustic and warm setting for our wedding dinner and casual hangouts with our guests. Guests enjoyed the clean and comfortable accommodations in the lodge and other on-site buildings. Last but not least, the grounds provided an unparalleled outdoor experience, with many of our guests taking advantage of the hiking trails and beach on Thirteenth Lake. The grounds also provided a variety of breathtaking backdrops for wedding photos that we will cherish forever. The rustic charm of the setting was complimented by delicious food, often incorporating an Adirondack flair into familiar favorites. Many guests commented on the quality of the meals, from morning breakfast, to the wedding night hors d'oeuvres and dinner, to late night pizza. The flexibility of the venue was also a huge benefit, with our questions regarding meal options, locations, and timings being met with enthusiastic solutions. We would definitely choose Garnet Hill Lodge over and over again for the wonderful experience that we had here. If you are looking for a venue that provides a warm, welcoming, and charming space to gather your loved ones for an unbeatable celebration, this is the place for you.

This is such a welcoming place: great ski center and a really relaxing and spacious lodge. Such beautiful trails for skiing. And so thought through (now with covid they have fire pits going to keep guests warm). And the lodge is just so spacious. We had dinner there with a large group that tried to still socially distance and they were able to serve us in the family room where we had room and privacy at once. Lucy, the waiter, was just impeccable. She remembered all of our orders and created such a special evening for us despite the pandemic going on. I look forward to staying there next time.

While our visit was pleasant overall, I feel as though the details were a bit embellished. Don't get me wrong, it was all accurate, but not all the info was listed. For example, although we had rights to swim, kayak, canoe or sit on the beach of Thirteenth Lake, it was a 15 minutes hike, all downhill, through a wooded area on the way there, & consequently all uphill on the way back. I mistakenly thought it was closer. Don't get me wrong, I walk about 3.5-4 miles several times a week, so I'm not afraid of exercise. But not in a wet bathing suit, logging my towel, book, water bottle, sunscreen, etc. Plus being uphill meant at least a 30 minute hike.Breakfast buffet was good. Patio tables were the perfect place to eat & view the beautiful scenery. We ate dinner at the Lodge one night but it was OK. Only alcoholic beverage choice was non-flavored Seltzer. Meal was good, & service was excellent. But we decided to try other places. Our room was exactly as described & very clean. Only problem was the two interior doors that didn't close all the way. We let them know on the way out & they apologized. Said they've been totally booked & can't get a handyman in to fix in between. I get it. Bikes we rented were good, but the one kayak was missing the cushion. Just a little uncomfortable as we paddled around the lake.Location was good to visit Gore Mtn & ride chairlift. Local tour guide Rich met us at the Saddle Lodge & we walked to the top, picking up garnet pieces & learned about the geology & history of the area. Rich was a gem & very knowledgeable! We had fun & enjoyed getting away to the Adirondacks💕

We were looking for a quiet, peaceful place surrounded by nature, and GHL was perfect. A short walk to a beautiful lake for swimming and canoeing, gorgeous mountain view from the room balcony, maps available for good nearby hikes. Complimentary breakfast was fine, and the restaurant was very good. I’ll be coming back for skiing in the winter.(Edited in later) Also, I left some stuff in the room and didn’t notice it missing, and they were proactive about emailing me about it, and super helpful about mailing it back to me. Terrific people.

Stayed here yesterday and was enamored by the beautiful, verdant premises. I took my dad here for his 73rd birthday and intended to stay in two separate rooms for two nights. However, my dad was being difficult and wanted to switch to one room as we were unaware the buildings wouldn't be adjacent to each other and he didn't want me walking around at night lest an animal maul me to death. Anyway, the staff was very understanding and accommodating. Dinner was delicious as well. This is the place to go if you're into hiking, biking, or water activities, and I would love to return with a more active Other.
