My family hired Dave to guide us on a white water rafting trip. Fantastic time was had by all, Dave regaled is with stories from the river and is an extremely competent guidesman. Can't wait to book another trip! They rent bikes, kayaks, camper, you name it and even have a well stocked store on premise with extremely fair prices. Ruth is a pleasure to speak with and is very knowledgeable. Thank you Dave, Ruth, and the Cloudsplitter team!

Cloud Splitters is a wonderful operation! Ruth and David were extremely helpful in helping my dad and I plan our camping adventure. They gave wonderful recommendations for places to camp and how to get to the camping areas. Their shop had great last minute provisions and some really nice local merchandise and gifts. Before and after our camping trip, my dad and I stayed at Cloud Splitters Pilot House cabin which was really clean, beautiful and had a fascinating history... Be sure to ask Ruth about it! The owners were so friendly and hospitable... We will absolutely visit Cloud Splitters again!

My rear carry handle detached on my 16 foot composite kayak after a trip to Lake Henderson. No one could reach the interior anchor point, it was just too far! We brought it to Cloudsplitter Outfitters and they McGyvered a way to get that handle attached security again! I can't thank them enough for taking time on a busy Fourth of July weekend to fix my boat!! The owners are wonderfully kind and obviously thinking out of the box to make repairs!! Everything add stop by their establishment

Excellent source of gear and trip planning info! Last weekend I rented a canoe, a canoe carrier, and a bear canister for a 3 day trip to the Essex Chain Lakes. The store owner Ruth was very knowledgable about the local area and gave me lots of info. I called the store several times to get information about planning my trip - how to plan to best avoid bears, where the best campsites were, how long would it take me to canoe the route I planned, and the owner gave me detailed answers to all my questions. As we were driving out to our trailhead we forgot a pot and thought we would have to drive very far to get the pot, but the store owner had a pot in her shop she was able to sell to us.

I rented a kayak for 2 days and was amazed at how quick and easy the process was. Within 10 minutes of arriving I was packed and in the water. The man at the desk was very friendly and recommended a spectacular location for primitive camping that I thoroughly enjoyed. They even allowed me to leave my car at the store. The reason I'm only rating three stars is because after a torrential down pour on my first night camping, I decided to bring the kayak back a day early. When I asked if I could be refunded for the second day, I was given a flat 'no'. It was only $27, but my rating would've been 5 stars had I been given the option of redeeming my second day at another time or something similar.

These wonderful people do not get enough praise. They are the most wonderful, most caring, people. I look forward to staying here every year. I almost don't want to post this review because I don't want this little secret getting out. They deserve the business though. They really do, they care. Our home away from home. We have stayed in the Tamarack in both fall and winter, and I hate to sound cliche, but you can feel the stress leaving as soon as you walk in. The beautiful wood tones, wonderfully decorated and equipped down to the smallest details. The screened in porch, the huge grill, the fire pit in the front yard, all help to set a relaxed setting. And to top it all off, owners who are accommodating in every aspect, and are wonderful resources of local knowledge. Do yourself a favor and go!!!

These folks were there for me when I needed help! I had an accident with my van out in the forest, and ended up on their doorstep. They let me stay in their lot overnight until I could get my van towed to a mechanic, and then even drove me into town—thank you!! Such wonderfully kind people, and their shop is well stocked too!

Excellent! Super nice owners. Rented a canoe and stand up paddle boards. Awesome customer service above and beyond. Let us wait out a rain storm on their porch. Had a dog PFD for our four legged companion. Also, great store full of helpful supplies. Highly recommend.

A++ service and hospitality! Dave & Ruth are extremely knowledgeable, friendly and always provide impeccable service. If you are in the Newcomb or surrounding areas, be sure to stop in and see them! They have a thorough knowledge of the local area and Adirondack Park; their shop is stocked with all kinds of things you'd need from firewood to ice, bait, camping supplies, basic groceries, toiletries and more. They offer guide services, kayak & canoe rentals and more plus they have a few options for overnight accommodation. Cloud-Splitter Outfitters and the Olbert Family are true gems! You'll arrive to their shop as a customer, but leave as a life-long friend!

Great place, the owners are awesome and very accommodating. We stayed in one of the cabins and it was very nice, clean and great view. Easy access for kayaking and they will tell you where to go. Centrally located for mountain climbing.

A gem in the mountains. Feel transported, welcomed, and rejuvenated.It was a child-like thrill run of fun to find some interesting treat from the shop.A paddle on the river with one of the water craft tugged at my heartstrings; listen for the call of a baby deer, look at the beautiful mountains reflecting back among the lily pads.And the cabin felt as comforting and welcoming as a long awaited holiday. It's a place you look forward to returning to and relaxing.
