My mother has been brought to tears twice now by one of their staff members that discrimate against people who don't (look) like they come from a higher society. The Virginia women there is extremely rude and always treats my mother horrible. If you want some place to go where you get treated like a human being go to one of the other humane societys in the area. It's pretty sad that I even showed up there in person because this women was so awful and discriminative. I can't believe they still allow her to be there.

We have adopted three kittens from here over the course of three years (one in 2000 and two in late 2021) as well as looking for our fourth just recently. The staff’s focus is to match the right kitten parents with the right kittens or cats. They do this by getting to know you and your situation then with that and their tremendous knowledge that they have of every kitten or cat they have for adoption let you spend time with the potential match. In our case this method has worked for us, all three very happy kittens, now cats are proof of that. The staff are very caring and compassionate, they treat each and every animal under their care like it is one of their own, hence the focus on getting the right animal into the right home. Mostly we have dealt with Jackie, and she is the closest version of kitten whisper we have ever seen. We have gone down with an idea about who we wanted to bring home only to have Jackie introduce us to ones that we never thought of, we and they are so glad she did that. The facilities are clean and well maintained, the animals under their care appear very happy. The few times we have looked at adopting we have made the long drive here and it has been worth it every time. There are times where the kittens or cats they have don’t match, that is ok, and they understand that. This was our experience recently. In our case these kittens or cats are our family, and we want to make sure they are going to be happy and loved in their forever home, the staff shares that goal.

Over 100 cats to find homes for but they are not set up to effectively accomplish this mission. I spoke to a volunteer who was kind enough to open the door and step outside to talk to me at 9:15 am. She explained that they are appointment only, they do not transport cats to other cities where homes are waiting and adoptions are only done online and by appointment but they aren’t staffed to respond to phone or online inquiries. Shame on them. The volunteer said there were over 40 kittens and more were coming by October. We are a family of 3 with a 13 year old cat and would been happy to bring a kitten home with us. We left with the feeling that ever since Covid many humane establishments have completely removed in person communications and focus more on raising funds to care for and vet cats/dogs rather than find homes.

They are very polite and very carrying with our dog. I would recommend them to everyone looking to spade or neutered their dog and/or cat.

Very caring staff that stretches a small budget to do the most good for the animals in their care. The shelter is clean and comfortable, and it’s fun to watch the cats in their suites. They are active on social media posting lost pets so they can be reunited with their families. I take my dog for Santa pictures, a fundraiser they run in December.

I dealt with this place once and was not impressed at all! Horrible customer service. I felt unwelcome. And once you show interest in adopting their whole demeanor changes even worse.I went there once knowing the cat I had an interest in adopting. At the beginning of my visit he was available but as time went on and I met him and we connected they told me I couldn't adopt him, he was already mysteriously spoken for. My friends have also had similar experiences here. Aside from that, the environment from when I was there was clean and animals had room to roam which I liked.

Recently adopted Dutch. A beautiful sweet terrier mix! Could not have asked for a more informative and caring staff. The facility is bright, clean and inviting. And it is so very obvious that everyone there is caring and concerned for the animals that are waiting on their forever homes. I would very much recommend anyone looking to give a home to a dog or cat should check them out.

What a lovely place with lovely people. My mom adopted a kitten this past weekend and the process couldnt have gone smoother. Jackie was great and wonderful to work with and their place is beautiful and so clean. Animals have great space while waiting to be adopted. I would recommend anyone looking to adopt to go visit them and bring home your furever friend!! We love our Gracie.. she's absolutely perfect. Thank you!

I had a 19 yr.old cat that got really sick. I didn't have the money to help her or put her down .I started calling Humane Societies in my area. The 1st. one I called was Schuyler County. The women on the phone told me what to do.The place she connected me with took care of everything. (Including a small casket ) I heard they need help now. I plan on helping them.

I recently adopted a dog from here, what a wonderful experience. They were straight forward on some medical issues and you could tell they honestly care and love these animals. It may seem like a long process to get qualified to adopt an animal but it really is easy and does not take any time at all. I highly recommend Schuyler county SPCA.

Excellent animal shelter! They have little screened in rooms so you can go in and sit with the kittens. The staff is amazing. Very caring and knowledgeable. Large kennels for the dogs. They have an area with older and adult cats but I didn't go in there. They are always looking for volunteers to help socialize the animals or foster them. Definitely a place to find your "furever" friend!

I had my cat scheduled for a spay appointment, confirmed the appointment the day before, and then when I go to take her for the appointment they say, “Oh, sorry, she was canceled due to a scheduling issue.” Do not let them waste your time! They did not do anything to correct their mistake. Avoid this place if you want to be treated decently.

I was down there two years ago ready to bring a dog home, had two others of the same breed,he had been there 3 weeks already, no bath and no grooming sat with him for awhile. Never got a call to get him. I don't think the place really wants to find them a home

We went here looking for a pit bull our granddaughter in Illinois found us one on your sight we went threw all your hoops only to get told we couldn't have him another family that didn't take him right away was able to have him so just to let you know we found a real nice pit bull dont need any from you since we were not good enough to have the one we wanted I call this discrimaion
