recently had a disappointing experience at Petco while trying to purchase a new fish friend for my excited 3-year-old. The saleswoman's approach left much to be desired. She asked seemingly innocuous questions about our tank size and existing fish, only to use my honest answers as grounds to initially refuse the sale. Despite my willingness to accommodate any necessary changes, she seemed more focused on denying the sale than finding a solution. Even after consulting with her manager and ultimately selling us the fish, the interaction left a sour taste.Furthermore, the conditions of the store's own fish tanks were concerning. Despite being quick to scrutinize my setup, the store's tanks were overcrowded and showed signs of neglect, with numerous dead fish visible. This glaring discrepancy raises questions about their priorities and customer service standards.In summary, my experience at Petco left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. While I appreciate the importance of responsible pet ownership, the inconsistency between their actions and the state of their own tanks highlights a need for improvement in both customer communication and animal care practices.

I took my Golden retriever Murphy in to get groomed and he came out looking so handsome. Melissa did a great job and followed all of the instructions I gave on what I wanted trimmed and what I wanted to keep long. Whatever product they used also made him smell soooo good. He also got a cute little report card to tell me how he did!! First three pictures are from this grooming (2021)Edit: I don’t know what happened this time but he came out looking like a different dog. His cut is so choppy and they cut his wings off :( You’re not supposed to shave a golden and they did. Last three photos are from this grooming. You can see how uneven some of the cuts are and it’s even worse in person. He usually gets called handsome everywhere we go but now people won’t even look at him :( (2022)

The amazing worker at Petco named Devon helped us pick out our new ginny pig. He set us up with everything we needed to give Sadie Streisand a new beginning and a forever home. Devon took his time with us he wasn't pushy he was so nice funny and very knowledgeable.

I was just in the massapequa location and I tried to purchase 2 cans of pro plan kitten chicken flavor and I was told it was recalled. Now if it’s recalled why is it still on the shelf, for sale? Seriously? As someone who spent 20 yrs in the pet retail business the minute a recall was issued/announced we stopped what we were doing took the info of the recall with us and went through whatever product it was with a fine tooth comb, twice if necessary and pulled it immediately and gladly took back product customers already bought. So please do your customers right and pull any recalled product off your shelves.

great Pet supply place, helpful staff. Had my dog groomed there and they did a fantastic job. Groomer was helpful and work well with our dog. updated Jan 2023. sadly a place is only as good as its employees. New visit for dog grooming and it was a nightmare. Besides them cancelling with 3 hrs notice the reschedule with groomer was horrible. Maybe the good groomer left. This person wanted nothing to do with our dog, said she could not trim nails because of dogs behavior and our dog came back with shaved patches on elbows and over poor job. Such a shame as she has been there a few times with no issues but now we will search for another place.

Loved the employee who talked with me about toys suitable for my pitbulls. The cashier was unaware of the sale despite the flyer on the counter and store signage stating buy 2 get 1 free on KONG products we wait about 3 minutes until she can get some assistance at the register. The assistance that came proceeds to explain the sale is for KONG rubber toys and that neither the tennis ball nor toss ring are rubber and therefore aren't covered by the sale. That just didn't make sense to me and it wasn't (and isn't) stated in the advertisement....

In the past my 100 lb sheepadoodle was done in 3 hours. Today it took 6 + hr. I was told because he’s a big dog. This didn’t make sense because like I said previous times it took 3 hrs. last time for Petco.

The staff is nice but a little lack luster. The location is lack luster. There is nothing here that makes me want to come back except for the necessities. I avoid going here most of the time. It would be nice to feel a little more welcomed into the store, but no truly bad encounters.

Everything was nice, including the cashier who had to tell me your policy.... We had purchased about$300 worth of stuff, obviously more than 30 days ago... We purchased a brush for our puppy and realized we didn't need it... But with your policy, I can't get even credit for an item.... Not too far of a policy, especially because I can't drive and have to wait for someone to take me... Not very happy.

Petco at Massapequa on Sunrise Highway. Employees are very nice. Especially Jake at the fishes aquarium area. He’s very friendly very helpful. He could give you an advice when you have questions. It’s a nice place to shop also they have more selection of fishes then some other places. 👍

If I could give the Massapequa location negative stars I would. I have a rescue pit mix that we were taking to this location to have his nails cut, in the beginning the staff was great but the groomer that we would see left. The new groomer they brought in instantly judged my dog and labeled his as aggressive without even stepping out from behind the computer to meet him. She refused to care for him based on his breed. Multiple other members of the staff had met my dog, played with him and none of them agreed that he was aggressive but because of this one groomer no one is “allowed” to help us groom our dog because of the comments she wrote in his file. Because of this groomer I will never take my pet or refer any friends or family to go to a petco. We began going to the petsmart and have received drastically better care and service for our dog.I am disgusted with the fact that petco hires employees that discriminate against dogs based on their breeds.

This place was brutal, to say the least. I told the manager, Barbara, that I left my reading glasses at home, so I would need some help finding a medicine for my cat's constipation. At first, she started laughing! I said, I don't think that's very funny, and she laughed again!!! Then, she said, "what product are you looking for?". I said , 'I don't know, but, maybe you can show me where the medicine might be, that was supposed to be in the store". She wasn't laughing any more and took on acrude tone with me." We don't have anything".Then, she went and got me a packet of pumpkin cat food." Try this", and walked away abruptly.I was upset, but said nothing.... But, one thing for sure is, I will not be going back there as there are other caring Pet Stores.

Great place ,very friendly workers here,I met Shaun who is a very gifted, intelligent employee that knows his facts on pet care. He deserves recognition big time. He is super knowledgeable and great help. He knows information in breeds of dogs off the top of his head which tells me he should be highly recommended for a higher position. I can truly say I can see him running his own branch and it being very successful. Thank you Shaun, your amazing.

The staff is very friendly and willing to help. Except for one cashier, ask for a paper bag, she did not even bag the purchases. Seeing that my hands were full with my leashed dog, had to bag everything one handed, while she walked away. Not even a thank you for your purchase.
