I had the BEST Experience with the staff there. They were so gracious and helpful when I found the new loves of my life. Two brothers two years old Echo and Spirit who I have renamed Sonny and Sam. I recommend anyone who is looking for a loving pet go to the Humane Society on Taft Road. They are wonderful wonderful people and I’m so glad I walked in there that day and found my two boys.

Your only allowed to see the cats. They have a binder on a table where your allowed to view the dogs through pictures but not allowed to see them. And if you did find a dog you want to see you have to apply for a dog with an application and then if they decide to approve you then you'll get a call to come meet with the dog.If not approved ,then forget it🤷🏼♀️ Not to mention the fees after that. I'd recommend just going to the SPCA. At least you can see what animal your dealing with for the adoption fees and hassles.

Adopted Sheddy Roosevelt (fka Meatball) here about a year ago. Came in just to start looking for a cat, and ended up with this loveable clown. While the staff/volunteers did seem a bit disorganized, they were all incredibly kind and the facility was very clean.

Maureen and her gang do amazing work! If not for them so many lives would be left undetermined. Great rescue run by a great team! Met this lovebug they took in from a county animal control that does not have a contract with rescue! Humane CNY stepped up and took him in. Another life saved! 💜🐾

I got my bunny, mike, from here a few months ago. His new name is loki. He was healthy when i got him and they made sure I had a place for him and I knew what I was doing before I got him. He wasn't fixed yet but they had an appointment for him set up so they made sure I knew when to bring him back and what to do for it. I did not feel like they were just wanting to get rid of him. I felt as though they really cared and wanted him to go to a good home. The staff was also really nice and patient with me. I did have to go at the end of the day both times I picked him up due to scheduling issues but they did not make me feel rushed or like I was a bother. Thank you for being kind.

I adopted a 3 yr old male cat at the beginning of the pandemic lock down, March 13th 2020. He is a blessing to have and especially at such a lonely time in our History . Asher is now 4 and doing great! I love 💕 him more every day. His adoption went very smoothly and the staff was great. They had a large selection at the time of his adoption all ages and sizes.

If you have to surrender your pet DONT go to this place!!!! Owner had to surrender their pet and volunteer Maureen Davison did the intake of surrender. Owner explained to Maureen in full detail that they became disabled and could no longer physically and financially take care of pet anymore. This broke owners heart but they did what was best for their pet. After owner surrendered their pet, Maureen Davison went on social media posting about this pet and spoke about owner negatively, telling lies about why owner surrendered their pet while she and her friends bashed the owner. How unprofessional and disgraceful to do to an owner when you knew the truth why they had to surrender their pet!!!!

Definitely one of my favorite adoption clinics one of the things that makes them so great is that they are a no-kill shelter and they work so very hard every single day to make sure that they're wonderful pets are adopted I love going there and playing with the cats and saying hello to the kittens I really appreciate all of the hard work they do to make sure that these animals are going to be perfect homes. I will absolutely be back when I am ready to adopt again

The people are very unfriendly. They never answer phones. My 32yr old daughter fell in love with a cat "Mary". We did everything that was required, including vaccinating our senior cat, who we rescued 8 years ago. Brought them proof through VCA vet that she was healthy and up to date. They then said we could pick her up Monday.n we bought everything this cat, including 200+ in vet costs for our senior cat. Went back Monday and they still would not let take her. We were. In love with her. This place sucks, and I will go on soc media and every contact I have not to deal with them. Horrible, awful ppl

Our family just adopted our new dog Maxie. We love her. The staff was wonderful and helpful. We are very grateful for all they did to bring Maxie into our family.

All of the staff are extremely kind and helpful, the kitties are all very sweet and lovely and I really have complaints at all except for the actual location of this place. I just wish the building stood out a little more since it can be difficult to find if you haven't been there before.

Absolutely horrible experience with the staff. Just incredibly rude people. I filled out an application and they said that was all they needed and they’d call me the next day to pick up the cat. Then each passing day they came up with some excuse as to why they needed more information. When I called back to check on the application the lady was insanely rude and proceeded to tell me off. It’s a shame for the animals that they are being kept by such uncivilized people.

I worked around animals for many years of my life and volunteered on the side, and I've seen how detached from humanity some animal care workers can be and this place certainly has a few: Let me say that the young lady that helped us on Friday was great, but she was the general exception. After narrowing down our choices to two cats that would fit in with our family, we went back on Sunday and that's when things went south. The woman working the desk on Sunday was noticeably uncomfortable with the idea of taking one of them home on that day and had to make some inquiries if it was even possible. She also made comments like "well we don't even know if she's ready and a vet tech has to check her out first." That comment involved the cat she was most interested in. We felt rushed and when asked about their closing time (we got there at 3:30 and they closed at 5 that day) we were told "Yes, we close at 5 but we prefer to have everyone out and quiet by 4:15..." Funnily enough, it was 4:15 at that time. You're either open until 5 or you're not. Your doors are open or they are not. You can adopt on Mondays or you cannot. My fiancé felt overwhelmed and rushed with the decision, knowing that someone can easily adopt the animal while you're deciding, so she decided we would come back on Tuesday; only after being confusingly told we could "possibly" adopt on Monday regardless of being closed, and then told again that they are in fact closed on Mondays and we'd have to wait until Tuesday. We then receive a call on the very next day ( Monday) that the cat we decided on has been adopted on a Monday, when they're "closed."The woman who spoke with us about it knew how upset my fiancé was, and while kind enough, missed the point entirely. Instead of rushing a decision, like many do, we actually took a little time to decide based on shelter hours and we were burned for it. We did not expect the cat to be held and didn't even bother to ask because, again, they were supposed to be closed on the one day we weren't there.I also want to take time during this rant to say that a gentleman came in interested in volunteering and the same lady at the desk seemed to not be remotely engaged with his interest or application process because they don't need volunteers at this time. The man looked dejected leaving and I don't blame him. It's not hard to show the same attention to your adopters as you do your adoptees. Stop misinforming people and please for the love of God stop discouraging people from volunteering, if even passively.

I was very unhappy about the lack of love and customer service i received here. I adopted my first pet 17 years ago and fell in love with him. Therefore ,when he passed i thought that this was the place to go . They were rude and not very friendly. They wouldn't let me meet any dogs to see if we were a match. They also never followed up with a possible adoption. Therefore ,i decided to look elsewhere and have adopted another dog .

Don’t waste the trip, don’t apply if you’re heavier, just don’t waste your time at all here. Visited a dog to adopt then my partner and I were fat shamed for 5 minutes straight. “You have to take the dog on hour long walks everyday NOT just once a week” ??? who walks their dog once a week anyway?? Then they offered a “couch potato” 12 year old beagle instead. Left here wishing I didn’t waste the gas or energy on an application. Call first they’ll surely find something wrong with your voice. The 4.2 rating lies, seriously read these reviews and don’t waste your time I drove over an hour to be fat shamed by an employee who looked like me… honestly so disappointed.

The establishment is very clean and organized but there’s no real opportunity to get to interact with any animals before adopting. You have to look at photos online, fill out an application for a specific animal, and then be put under review to see if they even want to allow you to adopt before you can even meet the one animal you applied for. A photo tells you nothing about an animal outside of appearance so this is a very flawed adoption/business method. This is exactly why the SPCA previously did not get many successful adoptions and it seems these two establishments have recently traded places. The more difficult it is to adopt the less adoptions will be successful. I would definitely recommend going to the SPCA instead they’re more accessible and you can actually meet various animals and see they’re temperament, age, etc.

Do yourself a favor and adopt elsewhere without the waste of time and aggravation dealing with a woman named Karen. What a horrible representation and unpleasant experience had with her specific. Was treated very politely by the representative that assisted on my visit though.) Best to NOT mention any current or previous pet history as she’ll deny your application unless you bring your pet to the veterinarian every year even when it’s a healthy one. She needs to lose the “holier than thou” cocky attitude. (Hey hon, if you’re so concerned about the 6 feet distance thing why don’t you get your hind end off your receptionist chair and do something about the waiting area chairs that are less than 6 feet of each other!!!) I’ve adopted many pets through the SPCA and other organizations who really do find good homes without giving you the hassle that this woman does. Best to get rid of this frustrated bitty and find someone that will create a more pleasant experience and make proper calls on good homes. Bad call Karen with respect to finding a home for a homeless feline that would have lived better than most out there. My entire family are such lovers of pets. Quite frankly I don’t know how you can sleep nights ill performing in your position the way you do in supposedly connecting pets with good homes. You’re only adding to the pet population problem forcing people to go out and purchase a pet rather than rescue. Do everyone a favor, especially those homeless little ones and quit!!! SHAME ON YOU!!!Oh, and nice how you just hang up on people rather than listen to them. Again displaying a rotten attitude.

Dropped of blankets & other items for all the fur kids that need forever homes. I was very impressed on how clean beautiful it was. 😻 You can see the kitties from the lobby & what a great setup they have for them. Not in cages but own rooms or free roaming if they get alone with others. Must make an appointment to see an animal if you want to adopt. Please help all these fur kids out & keep them indoors.

Sad to say I also had a very BAD experience at this Humane society. My wife and I were pre-approved to adopt one of the hoarding dogs from the recent intake. We drove 1 hour from our home and spent 1 1/2 hours with this dog. Spoke with 3 people who assured us that we did not need to leave any money that day to hold her and reassured us that no-one else would look at her until we came back with our dog in 1 week to introduce them. She also was not suppose to be adopted out until her rabies shot was given which wasn't until the next week. Well my wife got the call that she was adopted out to another family right from under us. I cant understand how 3 workers specifically told us she was ours don't worry and then have someone else come in and take her and just say so sorry about that. I mean how could you play with peoples emotions like that? Very unprofessional and I hope this dog got the right home because we are overly qualified and very experienced with the breed. My wife was crushed already picked out a name and bought a few things for her. Very sad that a Humane Society would blatantly lie to our faces. Tip to anyone dealing with this place have your money ready and take the animal that day or you will lose out on helping rescue an animal in need.

The staff are definitely better suited for working with animals than with people. They were rude, presumptuous, and kept changing the rules to suit their feeling toward my family's situation. When the dog we adopted had to be returned because he would not stop attacking my cat (I mean attacking her every single chance he got, not playing), they told me I was being "overprotective" and that I needed to give it more time. More time for my cat to be attacked and possibly seriously hurt by the dog they said was "good with cats"? No freaking way!

Nancy and all who work here are all awesome animal care givers. The wife and I are adopting our new family member, Gunnarr, aka; Ace, from HumanCNY and they are all incredible people who really make adopting from them enjoyable. We can't say enough good words this rescue. God Bless them.

I went about 4-6 weeks ago, and met Kenny. All of my references checked out as did my vet reference. They never called. I called twice. The first time they said they were still processing the paperwork. The second time they said he was out being neutered, and he had kennel cough. At this point about two weeks had passed. Another week passes and someone calls me saying he has emotional problems. I checked, and he was still available on petfinder. I told my niece in Virginia the local agencies would not let me adopt. She went to a SPCA where she lives, and now I have two beautiful pits. Mother and daughter. About 45 minutes ago someone called to tell me Kenny had been adopted (it's been about 4-6 weeks since I applied for him). I told her I had two pits from Virginia and I would be doing a review. These people would rather leave a dog in a kennel or foster care for weeks instead of giving them a loving home with people who would appreciate them because of skin color. The thing is, the dog wouldn't care about a person's ethnicity. They just want love. I feel sorry for the animals at this institution. If you check their website, they have 5 star reviews, but if you check Google reviews you'll find the truth about this facility.

We tried bringing a dog home, but it didn’t end up working out with our current dog. While the staff was helpful getting the dog home with us they were absolutely awful when we decided to bring the dog back. It was already a sad situation, and the staff here made it 100x worse. We were yelled at on the phone while expressing our concerns and when we brought the dog back in one of the workers snatched him away from us before we could way goodbye or anything. We were yelled to by the director, Christine, from a separate room. She wouldn’t come out to talk to us face-to-face. We were told we would be “dealt with” by another rude employee. They took a situation that was already hard and made it much harder. They had the opportunity to fit us with another dog, or help us through our problems, and instead responded completely inappropriately. The dogs here are wonderful, the people are not.

I just adopted a sweet bunny there. Staff was friendly, bunny was very clean and happy in his big cage. Person cleaning his cage said the bunny snuggled with him every time he took him out. I felt he was well cared for there. Place is a shelter, has a slight odor but not bad if you ask me. SPCA smells way worse. All the kitties are clean, dogs too. Bright rooms with lots of stuff for the animals to play with.

Went to visit just to see the animals however they are on appointment only. So was able to see a few cats from the outside. From previous times there though the staff is normally very friendly which makes it a plus especially for people who wish to adopt cats and dogs! Additionally they remodeled the place so from the last time I saw it to now it looks a whole lot better.
