The scenery is breath taking. Really a spot to check out. Especially campsites 240 -260 sunset or sunrise. Campsites are on top of each other tho thats the only down fall in my opinion. Wish they were spread apart more.

Absolutely stunning campsite with views over the lake, especially stunning at night. Amazing area for hiking and exploring, and great for the whole family including dogs.Would really suggest getting a site as close to the beach as possible, though if you're tent camping the choices seem much more limited.

I have camped at Moffitt Beach many times over the past 4 decades. This camping experience was a little “different” (summer 2021) as while we were here we went through one of the worst multi day storms with hale, tornados & torrential rain the Adirondacks had seen in a very, very long time. Although our campsite was 3.5 miles from the entrance (no cell, text or WiFi - Verizon network) I can honestly say we still had an awesome and memory filled mini vacation at this still very well maintained campground. We stayed at site 253. It was a water site that was very private, in a sheltered cove on the lake that saw a lot of traffic (from a distance, didn’t affect privacy) from kayakers exploring the rocky cove and jumping out for a cooling swim in the pristine lake. All the sites are well graded, and low hanging/lose branches are well cleared, so despite two days of torrential rain, winds & hail, we weren’t waterlogged. We car camped with a clamshell tent off the back of our SUV, as the sites are RV (no hook ups) or tent/car camping only. Water spigots are located nearby most campsites and we had two very nearby, along with the standard fire pit with grate and picnic table. Our bathrooms were located nearby & are still kept immaculately clean. Full flushes and sinks, a bank of 5 or so private shower stalls (full individual rooms with metal doors with seated changing area & free hot showers) that were also immaculate and and outdoor dish washing/cleanup station. As far as cleanliness, this campground never disappoints. There is a well equipped camp store, although off high season hours are limited. Firewood & ice is available continually on an honor system payable via money box or smart phone link. Kayak and bike rentals are also available.Moffitt has a beautiful, long stretch of clean, sandy beach and swimming, besides a boat launch. Rangers patrol the area in golf carts regularly. Generator hours are strict, so generator noise wasn’t really a nuisance. There are pavilions, grill areas and bathrooms near the beach and through the campground flushes & showers. Water sites are the “hot ticket” here, so they do book up well in advance. Plan accordingly. Many people come up to this campground every summer.Moffitt is close to Charlie John’s general store where you can get just about anything from B food to gear, food offerings in town and all major roads in the area. The one caveat to camping here is there are black bear. We didn’t see any this year, but I’ve had bear encounters here in prior years. The campground has a very strict policy regarding food & garbage handling as well as food lockers if you aren’t willing to store things in your car or RV & you can be evicted for not adhering to the policy, as the Adirondack park is home to over 4000 black bear, who aren’t particularly afraid of you. Bear spray during high season might be advisable if you are an über cautious sort. The wildlife are friendly (birds, chipmunks & squirrel to mama a few) and you might seem them in your backpack or in your table enjoying your meal with you. No fear. I personally enjoy that, but just be advised if you are a camping noob to this area…Definitely will continue to return to this lovely and well maintained lakeside campground in the pines!

Sacandaga Lake is beautiful, and this is a great place to come and appreciate it. Found a fish hook in the lake, so be careful out there if you leave your site to swim. Not every bathroom has showers, and the bugs are brutal in early June, but it was still a good time. You really can't go wrong here.

This is a beautiful campground with lots of sites with a view of Lake Sacandaga. We had to use leveling blocks for our class C motorhome at site 185. No hookups but water spigots intrspersed and a dump station. Camp store nearby and firewood available. We ate lunch at the Oxbow restaurant in Mt Pleasant and really liked the Irish nachos, local brewery beers and peanutbutter chocolate cheedsecake. This campground is not suitabdue for gigantic Class A RVs due to length limitations of sites and maneuvering on the winding, hilly park road. Great for kayakers and tent campers. We got a square of campfire wood for $10 along the park road. Little squirrels scamper around. Didn't see any bear. Checkin station was a bit congested. UnhookinUnhooking our towed car was a hassle due to narrow road at our campsite. It would have been better to unload the car at a bigger space had we known where to go for this.

Much better this year as there was no lifeguards so u could use floats and bring ur furry friends with u when u went to swim other years they are awful. Makes it hard on the dogs, kids, and my wife (who loves it there but says to just do what I'm told...I'm not made that way nor is that fun.)

Nice campground with excellent scenery. The only thing is 1 shower facility covering over a hundred campsites, would be great if they had another towards opposite end campground so one doesn't need to drive or walk almost 2 miles to get to it.

A truly stunning campground. Great public swimming options, campsites are out of this world, and stunning vistas. Well kept up facilities and kind staff, but the size can be overwhelming. Don’t forget your map.

They have excellent cellular service. Maybe not what people want to see in a review for a campsite, but was really awesome for me to have.Awesome beach which was not nearly as crowded as I thought it would be. Maybe we got lucky with the crowds but it was really nice.A couple of nice stores just a couple of miles away where you can buy whatever you didn't bring with you plus some nice restaurants in the nearby town.Would definitely come here again.

Pros: Nicely spread out, mature trees everywhere, front desk workers seemed really friendly. Lots of clean washrooms.Cons: The beach is way too shallow for anyone but really young kids. Also, I felt the lake was oversupervised... The fun police were out in full force here... At least on the day we used the lake.

Beautiful park. Currently having water issues so some bathrooms were closed. Not great when you are tent camping. I chose sites based on the closeness to a bathroom sometimes.Dog-friendliness: They allow dogs here.

Moffitt Beach has been a summer destination for myself since the 90's. Our kids are now 6th generation of campers at Moffitt Beach and will continue the tradition for years to come. Timberline Cafe is a must when visiting, be sure to fuel yourself there for your adventures in Speculator!

Stayed 5 nights last week by myself. I felt safe the entire time. The booth attendant recognized and remembered me from my last visit 2 years ago! Not just my name, but details about what I was doing in Speculator and Wells. Felt like I was camping at Cheers, where everybody knows your name! The bathroom and shower house were kept stocked and clean the entire time. The swim area was raked even so there were no holes to fall in. Staff made regular rounds to ensure compliance with rules and safety of campers. Such a beautiful view of the lake and surrounding mountains. Note that sites are not equal; they vary by size, privacy, ease of backing into, water views, proximity to a noisy road, and level pad. Because of the heavy rains all summer long, my site and a few others were muddy and wet. I hope the staff notes which sites need to be improved with more runner crush or fill and can get those sites remedied and maintained.

This campsite doesn’t allow you to do anything fun. You can’t play any games or bring your dogs to the beach area or even the grilling areas in the grass. They have people constantly patrolling on a golf cart to keep you in line. Some campsites are all gravel which adds extra comfort. Also the numbers for the sights are horrible so you have to play eye spy to find yours.

Nancy, Larry, and the other older lady were super accommodating after we landed here unexpectedly. Went on a camping trip only to find out that our usual spot was inaccessible due to maintainence. Nancy hooked it up with a beautiful site on the lake within a few minutes. Was able to take refuge for the night. Immaculate bathrooms - showers included, everyone practices LNT, and great pricing. $28.50 for one night, no reservations. Keep in mind though. This is a campground so there's no "getting away". There will be families all around so noise is to be expected. Even at night. Definitely coming back!!

One of my favorite spots to camp. Great beach good sites. Roomy. Buggy ...bring bug spray!! That's in early July. The beach is huge and fun. Lifeguards in a swimming area. So many kayakers and boaters. Quick drive to the Camp Store, which is one of our favorite places to stop. Good wood to buy at campsite. No electric at all on our side except at the big bathrooms, newer one with showers. Service is sketchy. A great place to unwind. Good for kids!!!!!

Not a big fan of boondocking but this State Park was beautiful and worth it. Most people were friendly and the staff was very helpful upon check in. Beautiful beach and wonderful fall colors. Spacious sites that were fairly level. Glad we came and checked it out.

Large, fairly busy campground. Sites are well-shaded, large enough to accommodate tents or small-medium size campers, maybe not large RVs. Facilities and site seemed in decent condition. Bikepackers: Rather than bear bag, they had me store food in one of their buildings. Ask when you check in.
