Loved this cute Lake Placid spot! In the heart of downtown, it was very walkable from the shuttle and right next to a bunch of other spots for a good shopping day. They had a lovely selection of EVERYTHING! I was glad to see it wasn't just the popular and romance faves taking over the store. Had a great selection of genres, a kids section, gifts for bookworms and non-bookworms, greeting cards, office supplies, and even an art supply section. Inspiration around every corner! They also had a lovely special for Valentine's Day, a FREE blind date with a book with purchase. The staff were kind and speedy. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area.

A great destination for picking up the perfect reading material for your lakeside lounging. This well stocked bookstore is a pleasure to shop at while in the area. They also carry writing books, journals and creative materials for art and sketches. I found the staff to be helpful and knowledgeable as well.

Came to Lake Placid for spring break and forgot to bring a book. Thankful for this cute spot but most of all, they are super dog friendly. My dog felt very welcomed.

I stopped by this bookstore while I was in town doing a little research for a project, and the owner Sarah was beyond helpful and gracious with her time pointing me towards some of her favorite local writers and books. I was also able to stock up on some fun books for my kiddos and grab a greeting card while I was in. Definite highlight for any book lover!

I stopped in The Bookstore before hiking with my eyes set on a small list of modern western titles. After looking through the registry with the friendly staff, no luck.The staff member was able to quickly offer options right up my alley within the genre. I bought a page turner "outlawed" on recommendation and wasn't able to put it down. Thank you so much for taking the time to help my search! The Bookstore has become a must stop on our next hikes.

Nice selection, nicely organized. Store isnt very roomy so the aisles will feel a little cramped. Prices range from fair to overpriced. Nice view of the lake at the back of the store

I loved the selection of art supplies alone but they also had so many great books from so many different categories. I spent a long time just taking everything in! The lady running the shop was lovely, also!

Extremely helpful staff that was able to take us directly to what we were looking for. They had a great selection of ADK themed children's books in addition to everything else. They also did a great job of making people feel comfortable by taking the proper precautions for shopping during the covid-19 situation. Hand sanitizer as you walk in (before you touch any books) masks, and even wiping down your credit card.

Everything you look for in a bookstore! My sister and I discovered it on our last day in Lake Placid, and had an amazing time looking at everything from books to stationary to games to art supplies! The bookstore itself is clean and well-organized, and has everything you could possibly need on its shelves. Staff were friendly, kind, and super helpful. Definitely our favorite spot in Lake Placid. Can’t wait to visit again!

I've always had good experiences at this bookstore. Turns out, they also do framing!Downgrading review from 5 to 4 stars after a framing job cost more than anticipated. I'm no expert, but one month and $120 to frame a print feels bonkers! Their $80 estimate was already at the top end of my budget. 😟

This is one of my favorite stores in Lake Placid. This little bookshop is packed with personality. They have an excellent variety of children's books. I love the puzzles, the art supplies, and other specialties they carry. This is a must stop if you happen to be in town or passing through.

A perfectly sized store for a small town like Lake Placid where the population fluctuates considerably between winter and summer. It was founded by a woman who managed it for eight years before drawing a paycheck. Now it's being run by the family's next generation. The store has a very nice mix of books, greeting cards and school supplies, and what they may not have they seem more than happy to get for you and call you when it arrives. This family owned business has a warm family atmosphere to it where everybody seems to be as welcome as the next guy by a staff that is well trained and exceptionally courteous.

I don't normally post reviews, but my experience here was so incredible, I was moved to put together a review. I remember the Bookstore Plus from years ago when visiting Lake Placid as a special place. I recently took my 7 year old there and the staff went completely out of their way to help us out. They were able to recommend books based on other titles that he has liked in the past, and those recommendations are now his favorite books.As a parent, I cannot recommend enough this store for both your child's reading needs, but also your own. Nice to know places like this still exist in the world. I will be supporting this store on all of my trips to Lake Placid in the future.

Wonderful bookstore!!! They have great variety for such a small place. Best spot to buy nature cards & stationary. They also have local maps for hiking and cool tote bags. Knowledgeable & friendly staff. Very clean during covid. I love that I can order books through their website and pick up in store. Highly recommended!

My favorite store in all of Lake Placid! Even when looking for specific or odd things, staff have been patient and kind in helping me until I found exactly what I needed. It’s peaceful to wander around and see all the fun books and art supplies. I always look forward to coming here, and I always find some great things !!

Very nice little book store. I like the " old school" feel of the place, it reminds me of the kind of book stores that were common during my youth ( the 1970s and 80s). This place has character, it's unique! We enjoyed browsing, checking out the wide array of products. Of special interest was the expansive selection of books related to the High Peaks, Adirondack history, hiking maps, etc. We also appreciated the fine selection of sports related titles, as well as the fiction area. There is also a considerable amount of books for young readers, which is outstanding. As a dabbler in art, I appreciated the selection of art supplies. Topping it all off was the friendly and informed staff, happy to help us and making us feel welcomed. The ADKs are one of the best places around, and a good book or two...makes the experience even better! This is the place to get a book or two!

Incredible little gem of a bookstore in the hustle bustle of main st. Wonderfully curated selection, excellent section on mountains/travel/adirondacks. Lots of titles that the big chains won’t carry or display. You will pay more than Amazon… but you are supporting an incredible business and people who work there, eager to help and have a wonderful attitude. We went with the kids who found a treasure trove of books. Walked out with a pile of books and a smile on our faces. Highly recommend it to a aspiring or avid bibliophile.

A TRUE GEM IN LAKE PLACID!! Tons of new books with a passionate curation of modern new releases and classics from the twentieth century and beyond. It's ALWAYS a pleasure to visit, with knowledgeable staff and a clean friendly environment. Love this Bookstore! No trip to Lake Placid is complete without browsing this store! Yes, if you are looking for some deep discount then you probably shouldn't be shopping here. If you are looking for customer service from an era that has long since all but died, then this is your place! The staff is wonderful. Their selection of items is amazingly varied with cards, books, cards, guitar strings and art supplies. If you are looking to support local business, then this is your stop for a look see and a glimpse back into time! Pay in cash and you might just get a $2 bill back as change! My kids loved the $2 bill.

Favorite book store in the Adirondacks for many years! A must stop for my family; always find something new. Variety of subjects, easy to follow displays, driving & hiking maps, hiking books, stuffed characters/animals from kids books, reusable canvas/nylon bags, postcards, bookmarks, stationary items... staff always pleasant & extremely helpful.
