I loved this place because they had a lot of cool stuff. I walked in - I said - I know what this place is! I have fallen in love with Lake Placed, and YOU are IT! They gladly accepted my huge huge sale and were very nice to me! Fortunately, they didn't badmouth me in french because my mom was Quebecois AND ALSO I took up to Honors French 5 in High School AND ALSO my BA from Rutgers College (New Brunswick) was in Linguistics, Mathematics, and Psychology. So, I guess - what I am saying is:I am credentialed - up the wazoo... to mess with these women... if they are going to speak Quebecois... in friggin Lake Placid... ABOUT the customers THAT are TRYING to be NICE to the locals and BUY from them because it ISN'T snowing and wouldn't it be nice to help them out by buying a few things for my NJ friends and family?I do hope that didn't happen outside of my earshot. I really enjoyed the shop and the chats we had! Remember - not everyone is from the Adirondacks! Some have Bachelor's degrees and some (Olympics, Canada, Montreal, NYC - all nearby!) have Masters PhD PsyD MD's etc... and they get insulted with their wallets and reviews if they suspect that you're...Anyway I am so far pleased with MY items. Especially some of the sweatshirts - they are just really solid and rugged. That's what I wanted and needed. Some pullover sweatshirts for my stay. It was COLD in Lake Placid and I should have counted on that! So I bought a few things from you and I wanted them to say certain things. Thanks for being there, and thanks for being you, and thanks for not being snobby or elitist with your Quebecois.

This patch. Up on the mountain they didn't have it. The Olympic Center didn't have it. One other store didn't have it.But Critters did...and a lot more. Check 'em out!

Go here FIRST for your Lake Placid hoodies. Lots of choice, sizes, and great prices. Most places on the main drag will charge 50-60 bucks, 32.95 here. Trust.

I'm extremely late on this review - two years almost actually! Item specific review, as I only purchased one thing, however, they have several types of crystals, so account for those products as well.I purchased their obsidian (it may have been labelled obsidian arrowhead) in 2021 on vacation. This whole time I've been skeptical of it, as it was purchased in a known tourist town. Thrilled to report today that I've done a few of the usual tests you'd use to verify authenticity of any rock, and there is no knife scratch, it more than fits the description of obsidian, and for those into this aspect - the energy is incredible.Highly recommend, and the staff were amazing as well! Very polite, and more than happy to assist with any questions or concerns. Definitely give Critters a stop if you're up in LP.

Adorable gift shop and fairly priced, with a lot of cute and unique souvenirs. Was the only place we could find that had car magnets. Dog friendly - also a plus for us!

We love this store!! Every time we come to Lake Placid, we make sure to stop at Critters. They have the best variety of LP souvenirs, snow globes, magnets, clothing, home decor, stuffed animals, etc. We always find something to buy!!

Came in here with my girlfriend, two ladies behind the counter blatantly bad mouthing us but neither of them had IQ’s above room temperature, thinking we couldn’t understand them speaking in their foreign language. Immediately left, which was a shame because they had some nice products

While my girlfriend and I were shopping, clearly as tourists, the two girls behind the counter were loudly bad mouthing us in French thinking we couldn’t understand. It upset my girlfriend a lot and we immediately left. I just think it’s bad business, at least try and keep it down

Nice little place to get souvenirs and such. We come here every year we visit Lake Placid and get something to commemorate the trip. I always like the stickers!

Good place to get some nice quality t-shirts that won't break the bank. They carry both infant and adult sizes, so the whole family can get outfits.

The staff went out of there way to assist me in finding what I was looking for. Their prices are very reasonable and I highly recommend the clothing, it is all high quality, long lasting material. I highly recommend Critters!

Go to all the other t shirt shops first, check out their prices, then go here. If you buy your souvenirs before coming here, you will be disappointed. They are the cheapest I found.
