Quick service at walk up window. We received trail voucher included in our stay at High Peaks Resort. Trails were well maintained. One of my daughters described trail through a treed area as Narnia ;) We were given a map and some guidance as to snowshoe vs xc ski trails. Thoroughly enjoyed our outing! To keep with social distancing we did not enter shop nor restaurant.

First time cross country skiing, took a lesson with Terry and had the best experience. First off, Terry is an awesome instructor. Patient , thorough, fun and without putting too much pressure. Learned within the hour lesson then was off to the trails. As for cascade, the rental equipment seems of good quality, trails are fun, and the staff really friendly and helpful.Came back for a second day and had just as much fun!

Convenient and reasonably priced. Beginner friendly terrain ; nothing very challenging. Bar with food on site was nice and a rental and repair shop as well as a small retail shop.

Great spot to relax in the woods. Well maintained trails ... snow was fantastic... and the little restaurant was perfect after a long ski!

Great place to cross country ski or snowshoe just outside of Lake Placid. Small shop with rentals and a nice looking lodge connected right to the shop. MANY interconnected trails here, and some you can even take to Keene (5.25 miles) or Mirror Lake (6+miles). Really friendly staff and trails very quiet and peaceful despite the parking lot being pretty full when we arrived. Would definitely go back in a heartbeat.

Nice lodge and friendly staff. Could do better in maintaining the tracks. Also would be nice if the trails are one way, so it’s safer and easier especially for beginners.

Skied here for the first time ever, and was so happy we did! I know this review is coming at the end of private ownership, but still wanted to say what a great place. The staff members we interacted with were so friendly, helpful and inviting. Being spring skiing, the water in the brook was flowing with runoff, and the trails were incredibly peaceful. My wife and I had such relaxing runs around the trails. We were skiing classic, and it was actually nice to have only other classic skiers out with us. Just created a slower and more aligned experience for the time we were there. There was also a wood ski gathering happening one of the days. Seemed like a tight group, all very friendly and easy-going folks. Looked like a fun group. Great place with a friendly vibe, knowledgeable and friendly staff, and amazing trail system.

This was quite beautiful. It just felt like we were always going uphill! and I love hills, it just didn't seem like I ever went down it was constantly up. It defies physics!

Super cool place. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful. Terry gave great lessons and is an incredible teacher that helped explain the ins and outs in a simple way that was easy to quickly grasp. The food and beer was good as well which helped round out the afternoon. Can't wait to get back there.

Great place with a really friendly staff. The one thing I have to point out is my wife and I were on the jack rabbit trail and a man who was grooming the trail gave us a lecturer about not staying in the center of the trail. He said we need to keep left or right. He was very rude and seems like he probably was picked on in school as a youngster so he had to show authority. We thought he was arrogant and rude.

We love this place and the staff. Great shop. Trails are beautiful. The building has a lot of ADK character. You will love this place whether you are new to X Country skiing or experienced.

Staff was amazing, being very accommodating and trusting when WE had messed up (left our voucher for a free day pass). Operations are obviously impacted by the pandemic but they make it work. The runs are good! I wished the longer loops had been open but we just went around the inner run twice.

I went for the full moon light ski and Snowshoe night. Had so much fun, the fires we're warm and stocked with plenty of beer, hot chocolate, and hot dogs I was there until they closed down and they still have not run out. They did run out of skis and snowshoes by about 9 I think, because it was so popular. I was thankful I brought my own. Trails are easy to follow, it was beautiful, the whole night was a bunch of fun. We came back to the ski lodge around 11 when the trails shut down and it's pretty cute and the couches are so comfy.

Having never been cross country skiing before, I got my first lesson here. It really helped me get comfortable on the skis fast. We proceeded to explore all the great trails they have here. The staff is wonderful and great to talk with.

Its a nice little area in the woods to do cross-country skiing with a cute rustic lodge and I would have given it a 5 star review but I just had to take off 3 stars based on how they treat clients. My daughter and I wanted to rent skis half an hour early before half day starts and the guy at the counter was cool with that until 5 min later his angry manager overruled that, yelled at him and then me and threatened to give my rentals away unless I pay for the whole day. That was at 12.30pm and the half day starts at 1pm!! Seriously - that is just not cool. So next time where do I go - I go to a place a few miles down the road!!

Good ski location. Limited selection because of Covid-19 by report, but they had the correct boots for replacement for the adults. Rented for children. Convenient that you can rent for multiple days and take off site. I would return. It was a touch icy, beginners struggled a bit on hills, but I loved the location and skiing.

Great place. I highly recommend buying gear here. They will go above and beyond to take care of you if you have an issue. In my case, they worked with a rep to get me replacement boots from the manufacturer, even though they were out of warranty. Plus, they sorted through 3 years worth of paper receipts since I'd lost mine (save your receipts, people). HUGE thank you to Ian and crew. You guys are the best!

Well groomed trails and friendly staff that are more than happy to guide you to the trails that fit your skill level. The cafe is warm inside the lodge with decent food to warm you up when you break from the trails. Loved the experience!

Been going here for years. Rentals are easy and reasonably priced. The trail system is very nice; they keep expanding it, while maintaining the current trails.Like most things in Lake Placid, the real draw comes from the atmosphere of the place - and Cascade sure has a lot of that. Friendly staff, quaint bar, and quick & tasty food. While I've always found it somewhat strange to have a ticket to go cross country skiing, Cascade is more than worth it. What may seem like a tourist destination is actually a hangout for the locals of Lake Placid.

I have been helped by a couple different people and it has been a great experience every time. They go out of their way to make sure you are going to have a good time skiing. Gave me fantastic advice on places to ski and a really good deal on replacing some broken straps - they did the replacement while i waited even though they were fairly busy.

Nice place to ski. I’ve skied for years but decided to take a lesson from Terry. He corrected a few bad habits and improved my skiing performance. He is a very good instructor and very quickly picks up on problems. I’ll return again for some more improvements.

They were advertising a big sale. But it was only 15 percent if you bought skies, boots and bindings. Was going to purchase all three and get the discount, but they didn't have my size in skies. Still wanted the boots. But they wouldn't give me the discount. Seemed kind of petty that they wouldn't discount the boots.I was probably a little unfair with the above rating. Jen called me today and offered the 10 percent discount on the boots. And they did call the ski company and try to get the ski I wanted in my size with no luck. And, I should note that they were very helpful to my wife on the day before in helping her select skies, bindings and boots. So I'll change to rating from 2 stars to 4 for me. My wife would give them at 5.

Awesome place to spend the day cross country skiing. Prices are very reasonable for a trail pass. They have a lodge where they serve food and drinks. The menu features burgers and even food for vegetarians/vegans. The vegan chili is delicious. You can rent equipment and purchase your own new/used merchandise as well. Please call ahead of skiing though. Their hours note that they are open and often times the trails are not...just the sales and rental store is.

Small xc ski area with beautiful trails. Trails are narrow, for traditional but not skating. Unfortunately, trails are apparently groomed only on weekends. We tried twice to ski here on weekdays last week; the first day was beautiful skiing weather but the trails hadn't been groomed for days and some warm weather had left the trails too icy to ski. Staff cheerfully gave us a refund. Two days later, with a few inches of new snow, trails were still ungroomed but we had a great ski anyway.

Great place to cross country ski and snowshoe and only a few minutes from the village of Lake Placid. Trails are groomed and there are even exclusive trails for just snowshoeing if you want to get off the "beaten path". There's a proshop where you can purchase cross country ski and snowshoeing equipment along with rentals. There's also a restaurant but it is not open all days of the week. Friendly staff, great prices and conveniently located...I will certainly make this a frequent stop on my Winter trips to the high peaks area!

I purchased a classic cross country ski package, and my wife purchased a skate ski package here on Tuesday this week. Andy and Stacey were awesome, working with us to find the right boots and skis. They know the nuances in the equipment from each manufacturer, and were able to listen to us and help us make an informed choice. We shopped for skis in the village of Lake Placid, and Cascade's prices were better by at least 20%, and they applied a discount exceeding 15% on top of that. Great price, great selection, great service. What's not to like?
