Every time I go to the mall I end up going in here. I always hear bad things about these types of store but I it never steered me away. All the dogs are extremely well cared for the owner is very nice and helpful but I can see how others can take his personality to be off putting.I have been looking for a female teacup Maltese for a year and when they had one I had to have her. The next morning I went back to purchase her and the owner and the employee sat down with me and went over ALL of her paperwork, medical and care needs. They gave me a bag of her food and essentials for free. They recommend I use their vet since Her first couple of visits and vaccines would be covered it just sucks that they’re located in Huntington. The vet and all of her staff are SO nice and personable that I now bring our other dog and 2 cats here. The staff here really made the entire experience (from purchasing to now) great. I totally recommend the American Dog Club.

I got a mixed breed puppy from this place a week ago. On the way home the puppy threw up and didn't want to eat the food they gave me with the puppy. The next day I changed the food and the puppy ate and pooped but she seemed tired. The next day she started to throw up again, she had diarrhea, she was sluggish and she was breathing funny. The next day she was taken to the vet they said they covered. At the vets, they said that the puppy was dehydrated and they needed to keep her there overnight. It's been four days and the puppy is still there, when I call they always say they are busy. When they do answer they tell me the puppy is doing better yet they can't tell me what's wrong with her. When I went to talk to these people at this shop they told me they could exchange the dog for another dog. These people run a sick business. These are living creatures they deserve to be treated with fairness. They also claim to tell me the puppy had all her vaccines, obviously that is not true. I had another dog a couple years ago a small Maltese that I actually got it from a reputable breeder in Brooklyn. They had a vet put a set of vaccines right before I took it home in front of me. They had all the information of the puppy's parents and their health. I wish I knew the name of this place because I would go back. This place however does not care at all about their dogs. The staff is extremely rude as well until they realize you are actually buying, they get even nicer when you are paying it all in cash. I posted all over my social media and have told everyone I know to never buy from this place. Please save your money and do your research before buying a puppy from any shop.

I stopped in to pet the puppies. It was a long week and the puppies are happy to see you, and they are cute AF! Crowded though. I guess everyone had a long week as well.

I'm not a part of one of those advocacy groups, I just noticed some concerning stuff. I was recently looking for a schnauzer, and wanted to look at one. When I asked, the worker told me she had to help someone else first, but then was just standing near the register after doing so. The store always smells unclean every time I've gone in, which concerns me because the other branches don't smell like that. It is obvious that the staff does truly care about animals by how they treat their poodle alone. The schnauzer I looked at was very energetic which is very good. He was playful around the puppies and with me as well. He was definitely a healthy weight, but it was concerning that he was lacking significant hair. I am very aware that it is common for puppies to pass things along from each other anywhere there is a bunch of them, but I don't know if something is wrong or not with him, and I don't know if the staff has noticed or were doing anything about it. Outside of this experience, I have had other mixed visits. Overall, most of the puppies seem healthy and the staff seems to care though. The conditions just have me a little concerned. I did end up purchasing my puppy from a different American Dog Club though that I've had better experiences at.

This place needs to be shut down immediately. They say they don’t support puppy mills, but if you research the “breeder’s” name on google, you will see it comes up as puppy mill. They are liars and animal abusers. I can’t wait for the owner and employees to be serving jail time for animal cruelty. This breaks my heart how cold hearted they are. They can sleep at night knowing they abuse and neglect these poor dogs. Last week when I went here, the puppies had no water in their small cage. I went to an employee, asked him where their water was.. his reply was so unprofessional, he literally said “I don’t know”. I demanded him to get them water they are dehydrated and sleeping (because they are drugged). They also had no food??!! I told him to get them food also. The dogs have no toys in their cage that they eat their paper bedding. I mean paper bedding? At least put a nice regular bed in there for the puppies... this puppy store is awful, it’s so small and all the cages are too small. They shouldn’t even have 1 puppy alone in this tiny cage. Don’t buy a dog at a pet store(especially this one) adopt one, or find an actual real breeder. This pet store has puppy mills for their breeders!! These employees all know they are in the wrong. They can’t answer questions correctly and offer free dogs for when their dogs get sick that are purchased. If you notice, the owner Elliot replies the same to all customers, he copies and pastes out of laziness!!! Say something else and actually care for these poor dogs!!!! Close your store down... this is so wrong. Your so proud of owning this place for 20 years, no one cares and it is not successful if all these dogs get sick! Wake up to reality, check your ratings. No one supports this store!!

This place needs to be SHUT DOWN! they say they do not support puppy mills which is indeed a LIE! I purchased a puppy here on Valentine’s Day, when I looked up my “breeders” name I found out some terrible things about where my dog came from.. first things first, a few years ago the “breeder”.. 8 years ago they had to euthanize 1200+ dogs for a distemper outbreak. What reputable breeder has that many dogs for sale!?!? Not to mention they had EIGHTEEN VIOLATIONS BY THE STATE when they came to inspect. Here are pictures of my dogs health record and proof where he came from. And here are pictures of PROOF that this company buys these dogs from PUPPY MILLS and do not care what conditions the dogs were in.... not to mention when I bought my dog in the pet store he had FECES ALL OVER HIM, I asked the woman what it was and she said poop. She said they would groom him while we filled out the paperwork. I’m assuming they didn’t groom him at all because there was poop still all over him. I’m disgusted I gave this company any money for basically rescuing this poor little puppy.

DO NOT GET A PUPPY FROM THIS STORE!Once again I'm editing my post in response to being referred to as a "fake review from a competitor or anti-pet store campaign." 1. Why would I use my full name when I know that this store has all of my information on file? 2. Anyone who purchases a puppy from the American Dog Club can google the name on their puppy's birth certificate and the words "puppy mill" will pop up. The use of those words does not make me an anti-pet store campaign and to accuse me of such is absolutely ridiculous. I had multiple conversations with Annmarie, Ali, and some old guy who yelled at me on more than one occasion. I'll repeat it again; this store needs to be shut down immediately! This is most certainly NOT a fake post as indicated by the owner below. I am absolutely appalled by the treatment both I and my puppy have received by the staff at both this store and by their vet in Huntington.ZERO STARS. My heart is completely broken. We had my beautiful puppy for one day before she started coughing. A week later, the x-rays (that we still have not be reimbursed for) revealed severe pneumonia. The staff was incredibly rude and I was yelled at on multiple occasions. I was given misleading information regarding my puppy, and eventually had to give her up. The "breeder" they refer to is actually a puppy mill; just google the name on the puppy's paperwork. I will never step foot in the Smith Haven Mall again. This store needs to be sued and then shut down.

They are puppy brokers and have several internet sites under different names to sell puppies. Don't be fooled. ALL PUPPY STORES!!! Reputable breeders do not sell to puppy stores. Many of the so called pedigree papers are forged or from inexperienced people breeding dogs for them. Puppy mill dogs can also have pedigree papers but they are breeding in horrific conditions and many times breed sick dogs in order to make a buck. There is no health tracking for these dogs. You never know what diseases or genetic problems there will be. Not only that I have visited the store and they drug these puppies. I can't believe people would buy a dog there. Please find a dog you may like and contact a reputable breeder! This is horrible industry to keep these puppy stores in business by buying their puppies. You will pay for many veterinary visits later. Many major illnesses do not show up for a few years costing you thousands in veterinary care.

I have two dogs from this place. I got a beagle a year ago & a Maltese in September. Never had an issue with their papers/breeders. When I picked them up they were healthy & clean. Staff is friendly. They aren't sedated btw, they are puppies, like babies they get tired and need lots of sleep! & If you ask them whats in the water they gladly tell you & show you the bottle, let you smell it. It smells like apple cider vinegar, which is good for dogs. overall good experience from here. Thank you for my fur babies <3

We just purchased a puppy from them. Only after 4 hours of having the puppy, it started to act weird ,it wasn't eating and only laying on its side. We took it to the vet and vet explained to us that the the sugar was a little low and they were able to normalized, however the puppy has something g more serious because she was still not looking good at all. The doctor explained that after having the sugar normalized she should had be able to walk and eat but not she was still sick, explaining to me that the puppy had something more serious. After paying over 1000 at the vet the puppy passed away :(DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM.THEM PLEASE READ ALL THE REVIEWS THEY ARE ONLY SELLING SICK DOGS!!!!

Editing my post as my dog now has epilepsy!! He has had several seizures and will need medication the rest of his life!!I purchased a Siberian husky in May of 2016. When I got him he was sick with pneumonia and they didn't know if he would make it. It cost over a 1000 for the medical bills( after fighting with them they reimbursed me for 800.) it's just a year later and I just spent 2600 for another surgery for him. A surgery that could have been prevented if the dogs weren't constantly bred. This place is a terrible and should be shut down. I saw the reviews and ignored them when I got my dog thinking nah that won't happen but it did! I rescued another dog recently and she is amazing and they get along well. Rescue instead of funding this place!!!

If I could give them zero stars I would but it doesn't allow it. We bought our beautiful chocolate Labrador there in June of 2013. He is the light of our life. He was 8 weeks old. Just after his second birthday he began limping. We thought he just hurt himself running or playing. When it didn't go away we brought him to the vet. The vet sent us to a specialist where he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer). The doctor was baffled since this is common yes but in older dogs, not a puppy. Devastated as we were told they would have to amputate his leg and even then he probably only has a year to live. We were told it was hereditary because he was so young only 2 years old. I called this disgusting pet store to tell them that our baby boy has hereditary bone cancer. The woman who I spoke to was nasty right from the start. Said she was the manager. Then we got into a screaming match over the phone after I told her they should re think getting their puppies from the puppy mills, let's be honest here we all know these puppies come from there they can deny it all they want. But these puppies deserve a chance too and we fell in love with him! Now this woman is screaming at ME and she's extremely lucky it was over the phone because she would've found herself laid out on that pet store floor from the throat punch she would've received from me. DO NOT...I REPEAT DO NOT BUY A PUPPY, A TREAT, A BOX OF WEE WEE PADS....NOTHING FROM THIS STORE!!! I've heard many nightmare stories from others as well. Now we have to say goodbye to our beautiful boy who's cancer has come back and he is very sick we are completely heart broken!! And I didn't even get into the money end of how much we have spent trying to save him or make his time left with us pain free. I hate you American Dog Club. You should be shut down forever.Also...anyone posting here that they have had a good experience with this place either works there or is related to someone that works there! This place needs to be shut down! dont believe the good reviews!!!! Aside from myself having a horrible experience I know so many people that also have had horrible experiences. All their puppies come from puppy mills! I know because I googled the "breeders" name that my poor boy came from...a puppy mill

I pray for the day that this place gets shut down and put out of business. It's only a matter of time before all of the ANIMAL ABUSE catches up to you. Disgusting. Those poor animals. The store is absolutely filthy, stinks to high heaven and half of the puppies are sick because they aren't taken care of properly.... and are puppy mill puppies who never had a chance. Don't even try to say they're not from puppy mills, because we see the vans from out of state stuffed to the gills with puppies. It's absolutely heartbreaking that there are people like you out there making profit off of innocent's suffering.I can't wait for your cookie cutter PR response that you clearly cut and paste in response each bad review. There are so many dogs (and all types of lovable animals) at the shelter. If you're looking for certain breeds, many times you can find specific types of dogs through rescues.

I had such a positive experience at The American Dog Club. The staff was extremely encouraging, and patient when it came to our millions of questions. They helped reassure my family, and I that we were the right owners for our new puppy, and that we were ready to take this step! As worried as we were, the transition with our new pet was really easy going, and that was because of the staff and their knowledge. I 100% recommend going here if you're looking for a dog because it's such a great, and welcoming place.

I'm also not a part of one of those advocacy groups, but I do work in the pet industry and have seen too many sick dogs from here. Zero mistake, these are puppy mill puppies. Look up the "breeders" they have listed. If you can't see the momma that should be a red flag for you. Responsible breeders DO NOT sell their puppies to pet shops. Real breeders DO NOT put profit first, they breed to better their breed, because of this they may have long wait lists. Do not take short cuts and get your dog from places like this! Good genetics and health is something you will not find here.To the business in question, stop with your excuses... it is very easy to fact check you and see that you are in fact not "reputable", just look at the horror stories of people who have bought sick animals from you. Mills passing USDA standards is a joke, and anyone who knows anything about the industry knows this.

This place is awful. I visit here every time I shop at the mall(very often). Some of these puppies look well, others either look sick or medicated. I saw a puppy that was sleeping even after a puppy jumping on them....? The times I visit, the dogs usually have no water and once they refill the dogs water, they are jumping all on top of each other because of how thirsty they were. My cousin who has purchased a dog here... his poor dog winded up passing away a week later. His dog continually kept throwing up. The vet said that his dog needs to be put down.. because the dog would never get better.. The vet said she's able to treat his dog, but it will keep recurring. My cousin had no choice but to put down his poor loving German Shepherd. I was trying to pet these dogs and I got yelled at because I wasn't buying any. Really unbelieve place. The environment of this place is poor overall. I think it should be shut down immediately. People just should stop purchasing dogs from pet stores... These awful stores need to be put out of business. It is ok to to purchase a dog if it's from a professional breeder or even adopting a dog(s) who is in need of a loving person/family. There are dozens of animal shelters in Long Island. Do yourself a favor..adopt and don't shop(unless from a professional breeder). Purchasing a dog from a pet store happens to leave you with a lot of issues sadly, because of these dogs not being properly cared for.. Please have this place shut down!

I came in to American Dog Club today, and I have to say it was AMAZING!! The way the staff loves and cares for the puppies, one of the girls who work there was giving the puppies treats and petting them, I Don't understand why people write such nasty things about this place, I have been here time and time again, even bought a puppy from here, and everything is always Nice, Clean and and the staff is so wonderful! Everyone is so helpful and happy to be with the puppies. This really is such a wonderful place!

This place is absolutely AWFUL. PLEASE DO NOT BUY ANIMALS FROM HERE. Millions of dogs are euthanized in the US each year. When you buy a dog, you are killing a shelter dogs chances. The puppies in this place look sick and it is not well kept. They come from puppy mills. Please I beg of you, do not support these horrible places. Just research "puppy mills" and I promise, you will never buy a dog again. Adopt don't shop! Don't support animal abusers!

Plain and simple. This store is awful. They don't care about their animals. Half these animals go home sick, some die. They are unethical and have no remorse. This place needs to be shut down to aid in the puppy mills get shut down. I don't care how many times they come from breeders. Mills disguise themselves as breeders all the time. Don't fool yourself into thinking they actually care about thes animals because they don't. Sign the petition to get this place shutdown and these puppies and their parents into LOVING homes with better lives ahead of them.

Absolutely disgusting place. My boyfriend and I bought an English bulldog puppy from there in March. We are very lucky to say she was, and still is in perfect health. But every time we go back in there I can't help but think of opening all the cages and letting them free. It's disgusting how mistreated they are. For one, thousands of people have marched through there and put there hands in the cage or on the dogs, etc. there's so many things a puppy can catch that way! They all look sickly and lethargic and I think someone needs to step in and shut them down!

i wish i could give 0 stars to this place. we bought our beautiful cockapoo there today and went through so much trouble. they did not want to give us the dog after we already paid because we confronted them about a mistake in the price. we wouldn't leave without our puppy and were getting very frustrated so they decided to call mall security. we ended up calling the cops and they showed up and made them give us the dog. the managers in there are mean and i hope they get fired. my dad said “look at my daughter you’re making her cry” and one of the managers proceeded to be nasty and said “i don’t care i have kids that cry she will get over it” knowing that this was going to be a service dog for me. i hope this place gets shut down they’re a bunch of crooks and only care about the money not the dogs. they claim they aren’t a puppy mill even though they clearly are. please protest this horrible place.

Horrible. The employees there are rude. Just so nasty. Their rule is if I'm not gonna spend money there I can't pet a dog for even a second. The puppies are so upset. I was petting one puppy and he was the cutest thing ever and the amount of times we were told we're not allowed to pet them if we're not buying them is so stupid. My finger was through the cage and that was it. The poor thing was so upset and wouldn't stop crying and as soon as it got a hold of my finger it was so happy jumping around and playing. It's not the first time I've had this experience. I've been told their "tied" "busy" when there was barely anyone there. I fee bad for the puppies. So much attitude you get from that place, even if you ask nicely. Still attitude, and looks.

Absolutely appalled by the horrible customer service and the rude staff members, this place should be shut down. You can clearly tell that these puppies are being drugged and look sickly, they never play or get up they just lay there and look like they are dead, it ridiculous. My friend bought a puppy there, it took them days to find the paper work as they had lost it and stated that nothing was wrong with the puppy a month later the puppy passed away and was so sick. Please save these puppies and close this place down! Also this place is associated with puppy mills, these owners will say whatever they have to, to keep this place opened but if you research it you will find that they are associated with puppy mills. It’s so sad.

The owner states only one percent of dogs in shelters are pure bred. This is not true. The estimate is around 25%. Notice and many will be from exactly stores like this that sorce from Mills. USDA inspected means nothing. The list of 100 worst puppy Mills had inspections and violations and we're still allowed to continue for months without fixing rusted pens, horrible skin dieseases, infected eyes. Make NO mistake, it's all about taking your money while 5500 dogs died in shelters today and everyday. Who in good conscience can churn out puppies in terrible conditions as thousands due each day? They don't care. Oh and the dog you paid thousands for, they likely bought from the Mills for $50-200. Rescue a shelter dog

Only gave this place one star because I couldn't give it ZERO!!! My nephew bought a puppy from here last month, (February) The dog was shorty after taken in and out of vets with severe pneumonia, a bad ear infection and even PARASITES!!! Within only 2 weeks of having the dog, my nephews dog passed away. He was clearly devastated. In only those 2 weeks of having his puppy he fell in love with him only to have him die due to the unbelievable mishandling and mistreatment of these dogs by this pathetic excuse of a store and it's puppy mill which we all know about by now. Thanx a lot American Dog Store!!! I also found it very strange that the owner of this place responded to someone's review and said the reviewer was wrong about a male employee working there because I went into the store 3 days ago and there were 2 MALE EMPLOYEES. And also found it very strange that when I walked into the store every single puppy except for 1 were sound asleep. All at the same time??? Explain to us how?? This place is a disgrace and should be shut down. Period.

I had went in to look at puppies with some friends and my goodness, the dogs were so cute, well groomed, clean, excited, and Filled with energy! When I walked in a man named Kenny was very helpful and and patient! He was a great sales person and really introduced the puppies to us! He was able to answer all of our questions with a confident answer. The store was very clean and colorful. The dogs seemed very happy to be there!

Absolute worst customer service when it comes to a health problem with your new puppy. They only care about money and not the well-being of the animals otherwise they will treat the animals for all of the infectious and contagious illnesses that they have while they're at the store rather than leaving that to the new owners responsibility. Also charging top notch prices for puppy mill dogs. Negative stars would be more sufficient.

I bought a goldendoodle puppy from here in December. She is amazing. I'm rating 2 stars because of the unprofessionalism and the treatment I received AFTER leaving with my pup. I brought her to my regular vet because she seemed very sick. However it was coccidia, a very common parasite. (She is okay now) when I was there my vet looked at the records from their vet which she explained as looking "unfinished" as if it was somebody's "rough draft". It has no dates or serial numbers. She advised me to get in touch with the store to find out when they were given exactly so we could proceed with the regular vaccinations on a schedule which would not overload her immune system. I called the store, was told they cant answer and to call someone else.. I called many times and the voice-mail box was always full. When I finally got in touch with her she was NASTY. She went as far as to say "maybe your vet doesn't know anything you should go somewhere else" and tried to tell me that some shots don't have serial numbers (all of them should have serial numbers AND there should be a date recorded) than despite their vets information being on the paper which lacked the information I was looking for, she tells me that the vet they're partnered with did not do her shots, the breeder did and that she would try to contact the breeder when she wasn't busy. I still haven't heard back, I gave her some time and proceeded with her shots. I love my pupp to death she is a great dog and thank God she is healthy. In the future I will not buy another dog from here and would not recommend them to anyone because they take your money, and give you half the information that you deserve to know and should know for the wellbeing of your pet. I am glad my puppy wasnt in there for very long because they dont seem to care about the dogs at all. Completely misleading, rude once they have your money, unprofessional.

You know this review is coming from who was a customer and a person that worked here for a short period of time. Regardless whether you want to say puppy mill puppies or broker puppies, the puppies i saw and the english bulldog puppy i purchased for 3500 were very healthy. Yes they did has worms but the pet store provided the medication to treat the puppies for free when you made a purchase. Ive reacued puppies from north shore animal league and they had the same worms. But anyway american dog club took care of that issue. They also have multiple staff on the floor thats job was to clean poop and windows of puppy pens/crates. This was there job all day nothing else. Seperate people sold the puppies. Ive seen other pet stores sell puppies with kennel cough and respitory issues and ive witness non of this from lake grove location. My english bulldog female who is going to he 5 this year has a shiny coat, no skin issues, no breathing issues shes not over weight. Not a damn thing wrong with her since I brought her home and she was never once sick besides worms which is routine with any puppy. Leave these people alone. They sell puppies and yes its a business but this is one of the few better stores and im speaking on hehalf of lake grave locations.Btw thanks for selling me such a quality dog AKC registerd dog with all proper paperwork she is the best

My wife and I went to the mall yesterday and we stopped in to see the puppies as we are huge dog people. It was 1:00pm and every puppy was sleeping. I find it hard to believe that every single puppy would be sleeping the same exact time... These dogs were obviously drugged up to all be sleeping. We knocked on the glass of each holding area and not one dog woke up or even opened their eyes. This was very sad to see.. Places like this need to be shut down, it's horrible to say the least. It wouldn't let me post giving no stars so I'm forced to give them a star which they do not deserve.
