I typically process my own deer but I appreciated Don’s patience waiting past 9 PM to drop off a buck I killed in the early season. These men also took the time to explain what was offered as far as specialty items when I finally got there. I took advantage of the European mount service and had my meat back after 4 days, aside from the specialty items which takes longer.I picked up my “slim willy” snack sticks and European mount today. I’m very pleased with the experience, I’ll be back in the future.

I have taken deer to Marsh Mills for several years and I have had very good luck. This year was different. I took three deer to these folks this year. A 170 pound nine point that yielded 72 pounds of meat, another 11 point in gun season that weighed 160 pounds that yielded 38 pounds of meat, and a very mature doe at 150 pounds that yielded 28 pounds of meat. I have always had good luck with the quality of their work. When I dropped off the 11 point, they charged me an extra $40 for the butchering because he was a “large deer”. Deb claimed it was something new that they were starting this year. A “large deer” should yield more that 38 pounds of finished product. They are clearly skimming off the top. The last doe, I asked for the back straps to be left whole. I ended up with the equivalent of one back strap. I won’t be going back. They will treat you right when you are a new customer, but when they know you, watch out!

Shot a mature Doe on last day of early BOW season (next day was opening to gun). Arrow went right through the neck and the animal died quickly with no damage to gut, quarters, straps or loins.. so the meat should have been really fantastic... I was shocked that Marshmill delivered me a measly 24 pounds of venison from a large Doe. When I asked why the meat yield was so low (would have been 30-40lbs if I processed it myself) they claimed that my “bullet” had shattered both shoulders and ruined a bunch of the meat. Bullet? You mean Arrow.. and my shot was nowhere near the front quarters.. I got the wrong animal!. The back straps weighed just 2lbs and the tiny tenderloins were the size of hot dogs. Clearly they gave me a yearling by accident or someone’s poorly shot animal (or both). I understand that people make mistakes and I would have forgiven them if they admitted their error. When you make a mistake you should own up to it and admit you messed up.

Always a great experience and slim willies are worth the wait. Ed accommodated me recently when I arrowed my first deer by Bow. Hope to be back in regular season.
