By far our best experience in the Finger Lakes region! Most tastings in the area are served by employees, but here we enjoyed an incredible tasting with the vintner himself. Such a wide array of wines and ports to suit any taste. It was awesome to try some of his "experiments" and enjoy a much wider array of grape varieties that can be grown in the region with the right knowledge and care. This is a MUST stop for anyone who is truly interested in the craft of wine making.

The wine was quite good, best Saperovi I have tasted up here, and the gentleman serving us was very knowledgeable, even a little sassy. The view was fantastic and the house was full of history and charm. I think I would return here just to drink wine on the porch because it really is such a great location. There was also a super friendly doggo just chillin.

Wonderful wine and a beautiful setting. Alan welcomed into his winery very shortly before he closed up for the day on a rainy Saturday, and was extremely knowledgeable about his wine and friendly. Cannot recommend more

Alan the owner of this winery is a hidden gem. This is not your typical finger lakes winery. My wife and I loved how personal this place was. Alan does the entire process of creating the fantastic wine he sells. He is super knowledgeable and this was some of the best wine that we had all day.

Their dog greeted us and guided us inside. The owner is very knowledgeable and fun to talk to. Best wine we found on Keuka Lake. We are still enjoying bottles we purchased in August.

What a fun little experience! We had never been tasting before...only because we have always traveled while pregnant...and wine and pregnancy is not very cool. But we had a wonderful experience sitting outside on the grand front porch. The dogs are superior greeters and escorted us to the entrance. Just about 20 wines to choose from from super dry to super sweet. Ended up buying 4 bottles. Would visit again in a heartbeat. Would love to see the inside of the old farmhouse.

If you are in the Keuka area you have to stop by and taste the authenticty of these handcrafted wines. We bought 6 bottles and are going back for more.

10/10 would NOT recommend. Booked with an old crotchety guy who also served us our wine day of. Didn’t remember who our group was and that he had already charged me $70 prior to the tasting. Was not personable at all and seemed like he didn’t want to be bothered. If I hadn’t already paid $70 I wouldn’t have even had my group taste there. Worst customer service I’ve EVER experienced and I work in the customer service industry. Expected way more than I got. AVOID at all costs.

Yates Cellars was a great stop on our trip to Keuka Lake. Although it was not initially on our list of stops, I was certainly happy we decided on it. The wines were great and the gentleman doing the tasting was very knowledgeable and helpful. Bonus for being one of the only wineries in the area doing a wine with La Cross grapes and having an awesome winery cat come visit during the tasting. We left with a case of various wines and will definitely swing by there again if in the area.

This was my favorite winery of all that we visited. The owner is a lifelong resident and makes you feel welcome from the moment you walk through the door for a tasting. All of his wines are very good, it makes it tough to choose which bottles you want to bring home with you! This is a stop that you don't want to miss!

I am not editing the original post because it all holds true, but adding to it. I visited again last week, and again outstanding reds and whites. Yates is best described as a boutique wine maker that does it for the love of the craft, the nose on the Estate Red is so delightful, I sniff 2 or 3 times before every sip, and the complexity lets you sip and savor, as opposed to "drinking" a glass of wine, the special estate red is equally elegant. Don't tell him, but if he doubled his prices, it would still be a bargain. This is IMHO one of the 2 best wineries in the finger lakes and I have visited 50-60 places. The following is the original post:For the last 8 years in November, I have rented a 30+ passenger limo and taken a bunch of friends that all enjoy wine to do a pre-winter stock up. of wines. We try to find the unique places not necessarily the big places. We included Yates cellars based on their large selection of wines, our group is about 50-50 as far as sweet/dry. Good choice, the group collectivity left with probably 4-6 cases of wine. The most of the 6 wineries we visited that day! This is not a fancy retail outlet offering lighted glasses and wall art, they did have tee shirts for sale. It is located in a 1800's home, and manned by the owner and some help, who obviously just enjoy the art of wine making. They offered a choice of 10 tastings from their 20-25 offerings, so if you can't find something you like, you don't like wine. Most of the offerings are very mature 3 -5 year old vintages, Reds and whites were both well crafted and enjoyable.A poll that I do each year of the group, they said Yates cellars was the #1 favorite on this years trip.Good job and thanks for accommodating us.

Incredible, small production winery. Historic building, excellent unique wines in a quaint, personal setting. Go here if you'd like to find unique wines, get a personalized experience (ask for Chuck), and get greeted by some friendly dogs that won't take the concord you picked on the porch!

This is a wonderful small winery. The owner is usually the one pouring the wine and it's great to hear his thoughts and plans for the new wines coming out. There's always something new to try. The prices are reasonable as well. Worth a trip.

Alan is a great host.He plants and harvests the grapes. He sorts the grapes and he and his help make the wine. He then serves the tastings and sells his wines. He is a genuine and beautiful man. We loved and bought some of his beautiful dry reds.

Yates is always enjoyable, with very good quality wines that are reasonably priced. We visit each year. Purchased a Yates Gewurztraminer today that is very unique. Also enjoyed your 2012 Cabernet Franc, one in French oak and one in Americslan oak. Great winemaking here, will revisit.

This place was fun and the owner was awesome! We stopped in for a tasting close to closing but he treated us like it was opening hour! He also gave us great suggestions for visiting since we were out of town. He’s a life long resident! Check it out!

First winery we hit by accident on our honeymoon. It was not on our radar and I must say we were pleasantly surprised. Ice wine was too die for.
