We came out to these parts for a work retreat and when our original dining plans fell through, we came here and we had a blast. Everything was delicious and some dishes were better than the others.Recommends -- Burger- Chicken (could’ve had more seasoning / flavor, it’s smoked so that part was yummy)- Spaghetti + Meatballs (great for two ppl)- Pork chop (great for 2-3ppl)- Clams (decent, def tastes like the ocean but in a good way)- wings (could’ve been more crispier, but the reaper sauce on the side was delicious if you like spicy).- calamari (delicious!)- garlic bread (could’ve had more garlicy flavor + salt but it was yummy)

Truly, a great experience. We spent our summers at the Villa Roma, and this was our first time at this establishment. The food was really authentic and extremely well prepared. The chef had the utmost respect developing the menu and cuisine. The atmosphere was cozy and accommodating loved the live music and the local staff made you feel very welcomed, I have not experienced service and food at this level in this area before.

We hopped on the bikes last weekend to explore one of our favorite areas in NY and ran into this little gem of a place. Al the bartender was the cutest little thing and his service was top notch! We got the garlic parm wings as an appetizer and they were hands down the most delicious wings we’ve ever had! We split a smash burger and fries and that was also out of this world! The burger had a smoky flavor and the truffle fries were so, so yummy! Friends got the mozzarella ball and that was also amazing. Funny little story … there was a man walking around who was dressed in all black with a hat (possibly an owner or someone who worked there?!) who challenged one of the guys with us to an arm wrestling match for a drink (the regulars seemed like they had seen this show before 😂) but we lost. Good time, though! I would drive the hour and change back up there to eat again in a heartbeat! A must try!

We had a reservation for 6:30 and everything was great at first. Reservation was ready for us, the waitress was great and the food was fantastic. We were barely there an hr and paid our bill and sitting there chatting a few minutes and the “boss” came over and asked us to vacate our table because they had people waiting…..I will point out that we didn’t order alcohol. I just don’t feel like it was right considering I had a reservation and the people waiting were walk ins all because we weren’t drinking. Will not go back again.

Update: 1 Year Later (1/27/24): Still my favorite restaurant. I was there yesterday with my family for dinner. The food is fantastic as always. Continually impressed with the selection and quality. I love brining people who've never been here before to check it out. The servers are so nice and there is never a dull moment. There is also an attached wine shop which you should check out. Take this as the ultimate recommendation, you will love it!Located very close to The Stone Arch Bridge. The location is no frills but comfortable. The food was great and incredibly well priced. I recommend if you are looking for a casual dining experience. It is one of those locations you can roll into no matter the occasion. The location gets very busy after the kitchen closes, for a fun evening/bar scene.

What an awesome meal. Honestly, we haven't always had the best luck with restaurants in the area, but the food was delicious, the portions were enormous and the staff was lovely. Very reasonably priced as well.At the very least you have to visit if only to meet Angie.Only suggestion, while the dish looked & tasted great, the bun doesn't really serve much purpose and it limits the sauce to one area. Would be better without the bun and with sauce on the side. Salad was perfect. We enjoyed everything, really.Oh, and the blistered tomatoes were amazing! Definitely don't overlook them.Dietary restrictions: The option of fries or a salad is nice.

We have dined at the Stone Arch many times in the past and loved it. Food and service was always amazing. Sorry to see that they have closed, but just as excited to see it open again under new name and management. This is where the excitement ends........quickly.Stopped in as a party of 6. They ended up putting us in the back of the bar near the restrooms. Slid two tables together to make it work. Problem...there is no light anywhere near the tables. The only light fixture even near that part of the place is broken. In place of the light, after not being able to see, the bartender brought over one lit pillar candle and told us they did not have time to fix the light. So we now were sitting at tables under one candle power. Could not even read the menus. Had to set up three cell phones with the flashlights on the entire time we were there and lean them on items to be able to see anything. The candles...on all the tables were lit candles not is glass btw.FOODTook 30 minutes to get drinks.Bloody Marys were the worst tasting - very odd.Took another 25 minutes to order food.30 minutes later...........Chicken wings - Good sauce - under cooked after asking to have them well done.Fried Calamari - pretty darn good - portion was way to small for $1525 minutes later - dinners served - but not all at same time. 10 minutes to get all to the table.Burger and Fries - with no cheese. Medium - Came to table with cheese and burger well done. $19 for the burger by the way.Shells and Cheese - Big boy way of saying Mac and Cheese - $15 for Mac and Cheese with no side is 100% rip off.Steak and Potatoes special - Steak was pretty good, but very fatty. Potatoes were good, but 3 pieces is like nothing and 3 pieces of cut asparagus. Again, overpriced for the meal with no salad or anything.During the night I reached over to get something on the other side of me, and burnt my sweater and forearm on the candle. Char burned my sweater and burned my skin. I told the waitress, and she sort of laughed it off, and when I explained the seriousness of it, she told me it was my fault, and walked away.At that point we just wanted to leave. Took another 20 minutes to get the check, and yes, 25 more minutes to have the check charge processed. The staff seemed very over whelmed and as a result, the service lacked and the food was over priced and lacked quality. We have a place at Villa Roma, and many people came to Stone Arch to eat. I am sure many would come here too. But after I tell them of the experience we had here, and the way the restaurant handled a customer getting burnt on an open flame, I think not.At the very least, someone in management, or the owner should have made him/her self known at the table to see and hear about the meal itself, and more importantly, the burn itself.Would never eat there again even if it was the last place to eat food on earth.Add: Look at the extetior, looks like it condemned. Want to know a good restaurant.....look at the restroom. A porta potty outside would be an improvement.

Absolutely wonderful date night experience for my young family. My son had more than enough room to explore and be himself while I and my spouse enjoyed an intimate evening. Food was outstanding, live music was spot on, and the ambiance was right on. Would totally visit again❤️❤️❤️

Really great artisan pizza! The Ferruccio, white pizza with mushrooms and truffle oil, off the charts! Made a modified version for my girlfriend without cheese, very accommodating. 10 out of 10!

Phenomenal atmosphere, amazing staff, the owners love that place and it shows. The pork chop is probably the best chop I've ever had. The 20oz.T-bone steak... They nailed it. This place is awesome and you won't regret making the decision to eat there or stop for a drink, and chat with the staff, very beautiful people. Cheers to that bar/restaurant. Right before the stone arch bridge in Jeffersonville. Pitter patter

One of my favorite restaurants!!! The old foundation has such a warm and “homey” feel to it. I’m not sure if it’s the chefs exquisite meals that make it feel like home or the welcoming and attentive staff. The food is absolutely phenomenal. The mac and cheese is TO DIE FOR!! The steak is perfectly cooked along side a perfect portion of potatoes and asparagus (see picture below;steak on separate plate.) We were able to have an entire platter of their Buffalo calamari with my entire family of 4. This place stands out to me because every few weeks they update the menu and are constantly evolving and growing. Whether you want to sit in the main dining room for live music or in a more intimate setting near the bar, you can’t go wrong! The new owners are seriously creating something beautiful here and I recommend ANYONE who is in the area to check it out!!

Pizza is very good. But expect to wait a while to get served as they’re in no rush here. Place was pretty empty but still took a long time to have our order taken by the waitress who was having a private conversation with a patron for a good 15min while we were hungrily and patiently waiting to have our order taken. There was also a dog barking inside…kind of weird having an animal at an indoor food establishment…was he in the kitchen? Dunno..

Came in for a celebratory birthday drink, had great chats with Al and Derek at the bar - ended up with a candle in mint chip ice cream delivered to the bar. Then an additional watermelon/lime ice turned up.Such a great vibe and people here, love it!

I'm an employee and I believe in treating everyone I encounter with the experience they want. Good food large portions tasty drinks now if you need a cocktail I probably can't make it and I don't generally cook the food. I also work at UPS so week days I won't be there till late night. Saturday is generally the only day I'm there all day and I'm kinda just ambiance. Ian and Jess are the owners and I have worked with them for years Ian preps the pizza dough and all the bread in house on a daily not just that but sauces even the mozzarella he takes his food seriously. Jess his spouse is a brilliant young lady that does any Job they are short staffed with and many I don't even know. They are the dream team they treat there staff with the utmost respect they got me the most delicious tea for my birthday thanks you 2. My personal favorite dish is the spaghetti I get it multiple times a week with a lil Reaper pepper on top I like my food spicy. A family restaurant a small town business where the owners actually care. So far they have done multiple renovations and are doing there best to improve that establishment for the guests that visit.

Loved everything about our meal here. Honestly one of the best meals we've had in the area in a while. Really nice salads and veggies, a perfect chicken, local and fresh ingredients. So excited and grateful to have a sweet new spot that's not just burgers / wings / fried stuff (though I'm sure they would do those amazingly as well) 🙌🏻 🙌🏻 🙌🏻

We were so thrilled to have had one of the best meals we've had in a long time. Kudos to this establishment....and even with being short staffed. We felt doted on and very comfortable. Our servers Jillian and Quinn were perfect with their dinner ,salad and dessert recommendations. The corn salad was outstanding. My wagyu steak was fabulous and cooked to my perfection (just shy of medium). Our Old Fashions were muddled just right at a fair price. I would highly recommend this new restaurant...even if the sign isn't up yet! We'll be back. BTW, bar is very homey and inviting. Acustic guitar player had a large repertoire and delightful.

We LOVE this place! The food is outrageous, and the staff is warm and welcoming. We went for a quick bite and stayed for hours, sampling from their creative menu, delicious cocktails, and listening to awesome live music! We highly recommend the cider donuts and truffles! Best wings we've ever had! We can't wait to come back!

The deranged bar manager screamed at a patron, at the top of his lungs, for saying “hey, excuse me” instead of addressing him as “Mr. Bartender.” Additionally, the subpar wings took nearly half an hour to come out, while wings ordered afterward came out within 5 minutes. The bad atmosphere and even worse service make it clear: don’t give this place your money.

I have been to the restaurant prior to The Old Foundation and was pleased with the food. The Old Foundation has been a great place to come to enjoy food, enjoy fabulous drinks and service. I have felt welcomed like family. I spread the word of the Old Foundation regularly. Juliana, Susan , Derek, and Lucille are awesome servers, friendly attentive and ready to meet your needs. Great bartender!!! Kid friendly!!! Most relaxing environment!! Just remember…. This is Sullivan Country- quaint and country!!! Love this place

Terrific food, attentive service in a lovely space. The appetizers of fried calamari and caprese salad were excellent -- fresh homemade mozzarella and a great summer heirloom tomato for the salad. Pizzas were hot and fresh. Chicken sandwich is delicious and a mouthful. Pasta with pesto was fresh and so tasty. A great stop on our visit.

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! You are 100% missing out if you do not dine here. The food is absolutely delicious made with fresh, high quality ingredients you can taste. The drinks are fun and tasty and the atmosphere is cozy. I cannot recommend this place enough- I only wish I lived closer to frequent it more. The staff is extremely warm and friendly and the owners are a joy. My husband and I tried a bunch of different things the first night that were so good we went back a second night to explore the rest of the menu. Their menu has something for everyone as we tried multiple appetizers (arancini was soooo good!), the burger, the filet o fish, the cacio e pepe (also amazing), the ribeye (quality meat!), the pizzas (a must!) just to name a few. You won't be disappointed here but be sure to make reservations on the weekends as they tend to get busy!

We walked in ,a woman told us to sit at a specific table. We sat down , it took 15 minutes for someone to even come to our table. Finally some came over, she has no idea of anything that was going on. It's also a bar and she said there was barely any drinks. We should have left. We put in our order and literally sat there for over an hour waiting for our food. In the mean time people were walking through the door ordering and getting their food within 10 minutes. Then when we finally got our food it was cold. I got Buffalo calamari, with Brussel sprouts, and my hubby got salmon . His portion was so small for $28 you would expect some food. There was maybe 4oz of food and that included his potatoes and a Broccoli stem. I wouldn't recommend this place at all.

Approaching The Old Foundation is like approaching any other old building along Route 52. Unassuming and uncomfortably close to the road. As we parked and walked into the restaurant we were confused at the lack of signs identifying the bar/restaurant as The Old Foundation. Our confusion was quickly dispelled by the friendliest wait staff I had encountered in some time. As if I had been coming to this restaurant for years. The decor was simple and rustic. Paper napkins, no tablecloths, band setting up in the corner, plenty of cheer, zero pretention. We were quickly shown to our table and had the menu explained to us (homemade cheeses and breads and honey from the owner's father's bees, oh my!). The cocktail menu was simple, replete with renamed classics and unfussy house cocktails. As a habitual martini drinker in NYC, I ordered their O.F. Martini, expecting a standard quality dirty martini. Several minutes later the gray haired bartender came to the table with a martini shaker and poured the martini at the table, which keyed me in that I was likely in for a treat. The first sip was ice cold, with its exceptional balance blowing the best martinis I've had in NYC out of the water. (Looking at you 11 Madison Park and Bemelman's). My dining companion had a Manhattan, which was also exceptional, but not quite as perfect as the martini. The next up was the caprese salad, which was great, the fresh homemade mozzarella being the standout ingredient. Then came the entrees. I never order pork, but the waitress spoke so highly of the pork chop that I couldn't pass it up. Some number of pounds of pork chop with the belly attached, creating a beautiful seared crescent of fat and flavor around 2/3 of the edge of an elliptical plate, nestling a lovely little bowl of sour cream mashed potatoes, the center of which was depressed so that the butter could unapologetically pool. Greens? Who needs them. The Old Foundation serves up the best feeling I've had at a restaurant in a very very long time. Genuinely friendly staff, phenomenal drinks and food, and a laid back rustic atmosphere creates a dining experience you can't miss. If you're anywhere near this place, stop in, say hello, and suck down a pork chop and martini for me.
