I've stayed at Trail's End Inn twice, and I enjoyed both experiences immensely. I honestly have no complaints about this inn. The thing I love the most is the feeling you get from staying there - the location is perfection, right at the heart of the High Peaks. I feel like I'm as immersed in nature as possible, considering that I'm staying at an inn and not camping. The building and surrounding property themselves are as warm and homey as it gets, fully embracing the rustic feel. It makes me wish that I could live in a home just like it.On top of all of that, you can tell that the owners and innkeeper take much pride in running the inn. I really enjoyed the breakfast which is included in the stay - when I stayed the first time there were muffins and the second time there were cinnamon buns which were absolutely to die for, both freshly baked at the inn itself. There was calming music being played in the breakfast area and a fire going in the living area which both contributed to a very peaceful environment. Finally, the owners are very accommodating - they allowed me to check in early to my room which I appreciated so much since I was in need of some sleep after a long drive.I definitely look forward to going back there sometime soon.

What an amazing find! Staying here for my husband’s Ironman Race at Lake Placid summer 2024. Came up to check it out and for a little vacation. I cannot say enough about this wonderful Inn. Hosts are friendly and helpful. Our room had everything we needed and more! The property is amazing with loads of trails nearby. The only negative was that we had to leave. 😞 Can’t wait to come back this summer and see how their garden is doing. 🤗Thank you!Rooms: We stayed in the Gothic Room. Wonderful, cozy space with a fireplace and jacuzzi tub. Loved the added touch of in-room coffee and snack options. 👍Food & drinks: Loved the Self-serve continental breakfast in the morning. Plenty of table spaces and a daily fresh-baked goodie was always available. 😊

My wife, two dogs and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Trail's End Inn. We loved the main house and our room. There was plenty of space to walk with our dogs and easy access to trails. The owners were all very friendly and we shared some stories. This was a great location coming from Massachusetts and needing to get to Keene, Jay and Lake Placid.Rooms: The room was very nice. Very comfortable feel!Nearby activities: A lot of hiking and small town feel. Restaurants and grocery nearby.Walkability: Great grounds to walk and trails adjacent to the property.

We brought our dog and stayed in the Haystack Loft over the garage which was nice and quiet. The unit was great - big living room with a small kitchenette including a microwave and small refrigerator. The only possible negative might be the futon in the living room - we didn't find it that comfortable to sit and lounge on but it was fine. The bed was very comfortable and the bedroom gets the morning sun and has a nice view of the field by the school. All the staff we met and talked to were very nice and accommodating. The main lodge has a lot of character - would have enjoyed spending more time in the living room there and reading a book by the fire. We had a great time and will be back.

Just an absolute perfect and charming inn. A picturesque lobby with a roaring fire with soft relaxing music and inviting comfortable chairs. A communal kitchenette with a tea kettle, full fridge and microwave. Delicious coffee with the option of OAT milk and a yummy continental breakfast. My room was super cute and comfortable. I had a great stay here and I definitely will be back. ❤️

A magical gem in the heart of the Adirondacks! A beautiful property that serves up comfort and a communal inclusive space for all styles of ADK adventuring. The owners are fantastic humans who work hard to ensure a great experience for guests. All the trails, activities, places and things you’d want to do in the ADK’s are easily accessible because it’s the perfect location. The food is out of this world and healthy with plenty of options for all dietary desires. The Sauna adds an extra dose of nourishment for the body and mind, especially on those cold ADK nights. With plenty of North Country connections…family, friends, yoga retreats, solo retreats, educator retreats, couples…all will love their stay at the Trails End Inn!

Amazing. Place is clean, comfortable, beautiful and in the perfect location. Very close to the many trails in the valley and close enough to areas like Lake Placid. Staff were very friendly and kind. We stayed in the Jay Room, which had its own bathroom, and the room was very spacious, clean and reasonably priced. The inn also has numerous games, books, and movies we are able to use. Will definitely be coming back.

Hidden just before the great lands of the Adirondacks, there is a beautiful Bed and Breakfast. The staff (thanks Jesse) were really helpful and accommodating. And they have free cookies, baked fresh in the oven! Amazing. The bathrooms are communal, as is the large fridge on the first floor. Breakfast is served well, and I love the vibe. I wish I could have had some breakfast before hiking 17 miles, but the environment has made me want to stay longer another time.

A very special place, owned by very special people! The inn has direct access to spectacular hikes, while the town sits just at the end of the driveway, should you be in need of extra socks. There are homemade cookies on offer, cozy fires for colder evenings, and snacks in an open pantry if you find yourself hungry. They recently had a sauna installed which you can rent time in. A perfect spot for adventurers looking for a place to call home while they explore the mountains.

We’ve stayed at Trail’s End Inn several times, generally to recover and reward ourselves after some days of hiking. The new owners here operate the inn as a cooperative. They are kind and welcoming and fun to talk to, eager to share advice on hikes and haunts and whatever else you may be interested in. It feels kinda homey and easy going, with daily cookies out on a plate and fresh coffee, clean and comfortable.

Last minute booking for my 10 yr old son and myself to hike Big Slide. We absolutely loved the place and my son made me promise to rerun next year and stay for two nights. Homemade cookies greeted us in the evening when we checked in. Basic accommodations but incredibly comfortable. Our room had a fireplace and a whirlpool tub. We had delicious oatmeal in the morning that was complementary before setting off for a hike. The owners are fairly new and are clearly going above and beyond to try to accommodate you however possible! The Garden parking lot fills up before 5am most weekends. I found out many people are sleeping in their cars overnight. You could walk to the parking lot from the Trails End Inn although it’s a bit of a hike. If you’re lucky you may get a glimpse of the most adorable seven month old baby that lives there as well!

We had a wonderful stay -- the property and building are gorgeous. Great common area to sit and play board games. Everything was very clean and welcoming and we felt right at home. We especially loved sleeping on the 3-season porch in our room! Heavenly!

Stayed this past weekend in the record cold weather. Outstanding service overall, but for 3 particular reasons this time. First, the innkeeper came and found me after he'd noticed I left my car lights on. A dead battery (and subsequent repair in dangerous temps) would have ruined a weekend planned on a tight schedule. Second, the innkeeper alerted my group to some challenging trail conditions so that we'd be best prepared to make smart decisions about our route and the gear we packed. Third, the innkeeper helped me to accommodate two of my mountaineering buddies who decided against camping out in the freezing weather.Despite the record low temps, the inn was kept warm and cozy. This place draws a friendly clientele and there's always some good chatter to be had and at the same time, it's not hard to find solitude. In fact, I fell asleep in the lobby reading trail reports Saturday night! Rooms and bathrooms are clean and tidy.I fell in love with the Adirondacks a decade ago and have been making the 7 hour trip to visit at least once a year since. I've stayed everywhere from Saranac to Keene and the Trail's End Inn is my go to first choice. Thanks again for another amazing stay!

A poorly planned last minute trip led me to this gem. I didn't know what I was looking for until I got there and found it. The staff and other guests were so pleasant an seemed genuinely happy to be there. Early morning coffee on the porch was shared with the humming birds in the flower gardens. I wished my stay was longer but I will be returning in October and definitely booking here.

Room was great, ground floor with a wood fireplace, which was amazing. Clean, quiet and the Inn had everything you needWe literally walked from our room to a few hikes and it is a very short drive to many others. Coffee shop down road and restaurants too.Self check in and out was awesome and the Inn was lovely with self serve options for kitchen, more wood, hiking info, even dryers for boots.Highly recommend!! We have stayed there a few times!

During day 2 of our 5-day backpacking trip in the Adirondacks, we met Dillon on Upper Wolfjaw Mountain. He suggested that if we were looking for a hot shower, then we should check out Trail's End Inn. So we did. Awesome. They had a separate shower room for stinky hikers whose inn room wasn't ready yet, a terrific homemade breakfast, and very comfortable accommodations. After 5 nights in a sleeping bag, it was heaven. The staff was also very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. If you are looking for a base camp from which to explore the Keene Valley region and the surrounding mountains, then you have found your place.

My family and I loved our stay at Trail’s End. The entire inn and our room were very clean, and the bed was quite comfortable. It was a quiet place to kick back after our hikes in the Adirondacks. I especially loved the wrap around porch to sit and read during a rainstorm. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious as well. We would certainly return for another visit!

I cannot say enough positive things about the stay and especially the inn keeper, Dillion. He accommodated a group of 5 hikers, last minute, in the very late hours on a Saturday night. He prepared a room so they could all sleep comfortably and even had food for them to eat once they got off the trail. The 5 hikers were in an unexpected situation and had to come off the mountain, and the Inn gave them very comfortable, clean, and warm lodging to rest. The rooms were spacious and they were able to relax for a little while before heading back in. As for Dillion, he went out in the dead of night to try and pick up the 5 hikers which went above and beyond his duty as an inn keeper. He also provided sound advice to me while I was in another country trying to arrange for emergency services. His kindness goes beyond measure and I was grateful to have his help so many miles away. I would highly recommend this Inn to anyone staying in the area.

Updated review for the new management: an amazing hand-off to the next generation. We are so lucky that Trail's End's story has hit a new chapter the same time as our family. We returned to Trail's End with our infant daughter. The previous owners - while wonderful, please see my older review - did not allow small children at the inn, and anyway ran a very quiet environment where I might have been hesitant to bring even an older child. But the new Innkeepers have their own families here and are SO friendly and nice! They're bringing new energy and hip ideas to help the tried and true formula. Rooms and the space are still immaculate, and you still meet all sorts of interesting people in the common spaces. We really enjoyed the optional breakfast on the day that we had it. Plus you still cannot beat the location of Trail's End for walking-distance access to the High Peaks trail system. It was time for a new chapter at Trail's End, and we had been wondering for a while what that new chapter would bring. I'm so stoked to report that the reputation of this High Peaks oasis will continue to be stellar. :) Thank you for a wonderful stay for our growing family!!

My girlfriend and I had a great stay at the Trails End Inn last weekend. It was the perfect quiet location from which to access the high peaks area without the bustle and expense of staying in Lake Placid. We stayed in the Hurricane Suite which was clean and more than spacious for the two of us. A plate of cookies was waiting in the room when we arrived. Breakfast was delicious and served by a cozy fire in the dining room. It was organized to keep the number of guests in the dining room to a minimum. We look forward to visiting again in the future.

Got away for a 3-day weekend respite at the end of the school year. It was wonderful. My girlfriend and I loved to space. We stayed in the Boreas room and loved the sleeping porch on the cool nights. The other rooms also looked fantastic. We made a fire one night and hung out by the lean-to. Dillon's recommendations for hiking trails, kayaking spots and places to dine were on point. Access to all those things are either a walk or a short drive drive. We didn't really want to leave as we just didn't have time to enjoy all the spaces in the inn and outside. We are thinking about going back in the fall to use the fireplaces in the rooms. The location, staff and space were all fantastic.
