Of all the times we've been to the ADK, we've never stopped here and I have no idea why. So glad we changed that.Great gear. Staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable.This is a must stop when you're in Keene Valley.

This store was highly recommended by my boss and this store was my favorite in the ADKs!The store has a really cool section of all types of adventure/outdoors books from maps to journals to books about rock climbers. I bought myself an AT map that I framed.The store has everything you need to get out there and hike. They have a bunch of snacks, hats, clothing, backpacks, boots, head lamps. EVERYTHING. Its a really cute store and it just made me so happy walking inside through it. I even had to stop again to the store on our way back home so I can buy a balsam for pillow.Highly recommend to stop here!

Went here to get snowshoes and poles, as well as some recommendations for trails based on certain circumstances that had us unfortunately abandon our high peak ambitions. Staff was friendly and the recommendations were pretty spot on for what we needed. The snowshoes were pretty beaten up but that's usually the case with rentals.

Awesome experience today at this establishment. The store has an incredible selection of gear and clothing. The customer service was phenomenal. One gentleman took a lot of time to make sure my daughter had exactly the write boot for her needs and the fit was perfect. Thank you for the wonderful experience today ! you want hiking boots go here! very nice and helpful staff and informational on products you try on. this place has everything you can think of for hiking and backpacking for all seasons. although on a little higher end in prices they have top of the line products. keep it local and help local businesses and communities. they have everything from trail maps to mountaineering boots and equipment. you got to stop in and look at this place.

I cannot recommend this place enough. Our first trip to the Adirondacks for Ice climbing would not of been the same without talking to the extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff working here. The gentlemen we spoke to helped us with everything from finding parking, route conditions, hiking tips, and even the exact piece of gear we needed for our specific climb. This place is a must go for any mountain sport enthusiast visiting the area. They have every piece of gear you could possibly need, and I can not wait to go back to this incredible establishment, and see these awesome people again. Thank you for being so kind and genuine.

Cute little specialty store for hiking and outdoor sports, large selection for a smaller store, I'm sure the parking lot gets pretty full when it's busy so off hours is probably the best bet. Prices are comparable to other specialty stores.

The Mountaineer is the best spot for all your outdoor needs. They’re always super stocked with things to buy or rent for camping and hiking, and they have a great selection of clothes and accessories. All of the staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. We love going there whenever we’re up in the Adirondacks, and we’ve bought much of our gear there over the years! Wish we could give more than 5 stars!

What a fabulous find. Awesome staff and fantastic selection of quality outdoor wear. Didn’t encourage them as much as I would have liked with super high CAD/USD exchange rate which made everything more expensive than in Canada (nothing the store can do to change it). Will be back when the rate settles down to something more reasonable.

The best equipment shop I’ve ever visited. They carry an amazing assortment so you can get hands on just about any piece of gear you want. They do a great job merchandising the store too. The team there is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. A+ store.

The Mountaineer was one of just a few stores with the crampon extensions I needed in-stock, and when I called to ensure the shipping offered at checkout would arrive by the end of the week, they agreed that the [unnamed government mail service] initially offered was unlikely to work. They quickly worked out an alternative that did work out, and didn't even charge the few dollars' difference. I was very glad to have gone through them while clinging to the side of Mt. Whitney a few days later!

Wanted to pick up some advice on cross-country skis. Bobby took great care of our needs and we left with everything we needed. Can't wait to get in the skis and give them a try. They also have a vast selection of top notch outdoor gear for folks who have an inclination to be out in nature and traverse the rugged terrain of adventures.
