For a kid at heart like myself this store brings back so many memories of Saturday mornings sitting in front of the TV waiting for cartoons to come on and eating a big bowl of my favorite Cereal. Mind-blowing!!! Great tourist destination. A must see when visiting the upstate area. Awesome that if you're not in the area you can shop from the store online from the convenience of your home. And the epic, family friendly block party that is thrown once a year is in my top 3 all time best, with food entertainment and so much more.

Great store for pop culture, comic, movie, game, memorabilia, etc. Prices are always fair when shopping. Many many choices, you can shop for hours. They throw a wonderful block party every year that is a must attend.

My son started collecting vintage action figures and funko pops a couple of years ago. What I thought would be a quick passing hobby has become a full time passion for him.This shop and the owner have encouraged and inspired him so much. I’m sure I will probably be driving him to work here one day 😅If you have the opportunity to make it to Toying Around don’t pass it up.The atmosphere and owner are incredibly welcoming from minute you walk in the door to the time you leave. Even if you don’t purchase anything you’re free to look around and chat with the staff about anything and everything comics, movies, collectibles etc.The 80s/90s nostalgia is intense - it is the comfort of the couch wrapped up in a warm blanket with a big bowl of popcorn for a Friday night horror flick or Saturday morning cartoons with a giant bowl of sugary cereal!I’m sure I’m not the first person to say these positive things, but I don’t have time to read all the other reviews. If you do, tally up how many people say the same things! I’m sure there are more than enough to convince you it’s worth the visit.New and hard to find items are continually being added. The store is well organized, clean, and spaced out well so you can casually look around without feeling like you’re bound to knock everything over like George Costanza in his puffy coat.The owner is knowledgeable, and very personable. Everyone is welcome. There is no elitist comic book guy attitude here. “Best shopping experience ever.”

I come from Albany to shop here. The owner is awesome, feels like hanging out with a friend when talking to him. Prices are fair and comparative to any other place I shop at for my collectibles. Not to mention the charity work and community work they do. While there are a lot of toys and things for kids, it is a good place for collectors as well. I'm a big fan of their shirts, I wear my dancing ewok shirt all the time :)

Great little gem in Upstate NY. They have some pretty sweet toys both new and old to fill that nostalgic itch or to embrace the new age releases. They also are involved in putting on an annual block party that's pretty dope too! All around good place for the average collector as well as the enthusiasts alike! Cheers!

An absolute staple of the community. In a geek desert, Toying Around gives a home to obscure media enthusiasts whose hobbies fall outside of the interests of big box stores. People who otherwise do not get a chance to talk about their hobbies with someone else who is passionate about them and cares. Outside of cons and other large events, experiences like Toying Around are few and far between. Everyday is Comic Con at Toying Around, and I am forever grateful for it being a strong local independent business in Johnstown.

This store is super fun to visit, browse, and find all the things you never knew you needed. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable. Everything is laid out well, and the statues and memorabilia are awesome photo ops. They have stuff for the high end collector, down to the second hand toys you don't mind picking up as an impromptu treat for a well-behaved kid. Its a unique and wonderful business to have in our community.

The store is very clean, and has a ton of stock of both modern and vintage toys. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I was able to get a great deal on some vintage Sectaur accessories that I haven't been able to find anywhere else. Can't wait to stop by again!

The store closed we had realized my moms wallet was sitting on the counter. I called and called minutes before it says they close. I used the chat now, let them know and they came back to look. Cane out looked at my moms id before giving it to her to make sure they were giving it to the right person. THANK YOU!! Thats a great business owner.

Great store, staff, items and prices. Always welcoming and helpful. The best is the way they treat customers with little things like a freeze pop or just chit chatting away with a five year old that is excited about whatever and they are just as excited to talk with him. Sold part of my Transformers collection. Process was extremely fair. They went through every piece and appraised them carefully. Both boxed and opened. Explained the process of determining value and paid cash. Went smoothly and I feel I got a good price. I would highly recommend trading in with them!

Such a great shop here in town. There's nothing that come close to Toying Around for miles in any direction. great selection of classic toys and comics, a sick game section, and records. Everyone there is very friendly and helpful. This is one of my favorite local businesses.

Absolutely a fantastic store for upstate figure collectors. The stock is always updating and changing and the folks working there are very helpful and polite. No one will try and push you into anything. I travel an hour to get there and I dont know if my wallet could take it if they were closer!

Very cool place. The owner is very nice and easy to talk to. They have everything from collectors items to vintage and used Toys. The prices are really fair. And he gives my son ice pops on hot days.

Alot of great toys and comics, vintage and modern. Great selection from GI Joe to Transformers to Star Wars to Marvel/DC toys. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I enjoy coming here and hope they are around for a long time

I haven’t got any more room in my house for collectibles, but if i did, I’d buy them from here. There’s a ton of stuff, and the staff didn’t at all mind when my (at the time) 1.5 year old daughter fiddled around with the donkey Kong arcade machine. Friendly people, sweet to kiddos, and always a joy at the local comic cons 🥇

Walked in and owner yelled at me for picking up a laminated picture. He was rude to me and my brother from their on. Im 45 my brother 53. And we drove 45 mins just to go this collector shop. I wish ActionMan toys was still around.

Great hidden gem in Johnstown. Great place to bring the kids or even adults to see some of the old classic toys. Good prices and a nice place to visit. Bought some legos and will be going back for more.

Recently traded in some collectibles at the store, the process was more than fair and the owner explained price points clearly! I would highly recommend stopping in and buying some merchandise, there is something for all ages!
