Wonderful local business! This business is employee owned. Ward's mills on site.The quality of the products, especially lumber, is top notch. The customer service is the best. Ward's sourced over 90% of my needs for my new garage. I didn't have a single issue and everything was delivered on time. I am a happy customer 😀

I can't say enough good things about Ward Lumber in Jay! The store is great with lots of inventory at good prices but even more important are the owners and the staff. They are so friendly and genuine. They all want to help and share their expertise. It's truly a community store and feels like it. I think at least half my house was built with supplies from Ward Lumber! Thanks for all you do for us.

We are incredibly lucky to have a lumber yard and hardware store, staffed by knowledgeable, caring and helpful people. My wife and I are in the middle of a multi-year DIY renovation of our entire house, and we make the trip to Ward every couple of weeks. Unlike other places that talk down to folks who aren't pros (and tend to be condescending to female customers), the people at Ward have answered every question we've had, and have shared some great suggestions for how to approach our work. Remember when a clerk was always willing to help, advise, suggest or just listen when you walked into a store? Ward Lumber in Jay (and Malone) still do. And they are really good at it. I have bounced ideas, explained a problem, described a situation and they've helped me with solutions. This local hardware is my go to place if I need a quick project done. They have everything I need from nails to lumber. I even get my chicken feed here. You know you’re “at home” when they’ve typed in your name before you get to the register. They’ve lost some good workers this past year and I miss their welcoming smiles but I still believe in shopping local when I can.

Great place for lumber and horse and animal feed and bedding. Local wood, their own mill and their own compressed horse pine shavings. Helpful staff and first quality lumber when you need it prices not much different than the big box stores. Some times better

Great to know Ward has my back when I start those weekend projects and find I need a propane torch, a 7/8th inch stainless fine thread 1.5 inch bolt or 16 gauge wire spade connectors, 1/4 inch concrete drill bit, Rustoleum Sunrise red spray paint and open on a Sunday when when you really need it!

The last time I was at Ward Lumber was when they had the two employees with covid, I was contact traced and had to go all the way the elizabeth town just to get told not to worry about it.I lost a whole day of work because of it, Havent been back down since, But in all honesty I really wish they still had a store in Plattsburgh NY, I would be in there multiple times daily...

Yesterday around 4:30pm one of our pipes broke in the basement and we had water going all over. We called Jay and he told us that Keron D. Charles would go to the store and let us get what we needed to fix are pipe. Keron went out of his way to open the store on a Sunday evening hours after they had closed so we were able to use our water again. Both Jay and Keron were very understanding and helpful.
