Went here to buy angel fish today. Very cool store. The two guys who own the shop were very friendly, helpful, and knew their stuff. Lots of great and unique animals and good prices.Here is my angel fish that we brought to go with our other one who is hiding in this pictureUpdate: may 2023 we still have the angel fish and got some new additions from them again, and we love them!

Came here nearly a year ago now for my first Crested Gecko...staff was extremely helpful, and very patient with me. To me, the prices were fair. Educated me on how to take care of my new gecko, and a year later, she's honestly great. Super sweet temperament, and doing well. I'm looking to get another reptile, and will most likely be coming here again.

Found this place out after Nature's Studio closed down over at Clock Tower Plaza, and had the same experience. Well-informed and very helpful employees, a nice selection of both fish and reptiles, along with the supplies. I hope this business stays active as I believe it's one of the few left near me (Not including chain businesses).

This place has some of the most knowledgeable people I've met. Clearly dedicated to the animals and an excellent resource for the community. It does not feel like your standard pet shop at all.

Be careful going here. I bought a bearded dragon from them, they claimed he was 5-6 months so I was caring for him as if he was 5 months. Took him to the vet and turns out he’s only 2 months old which requires a totally different type of care. He is sickly and dying because they lied about his age. I mentioned it’s my first time owning a beardie too so you think they would be more considerate, but no.

I needed to share my experience with the owner and one of the workers there Nev.. I've gone to this establishment several times to purchase things for my bearded dragons and never had a bad experience. More recently last Saturday to be exact I went there to purchase 2 more bearded dragons.. I was so impressed!!! You can tell that the store owner and his staff takes great care of all of the reptiles!! They are very knowledgeable and patient..I travel from Brooklyn to queens just to support this business because they genuinely care about their reptiles and the people who purchase. Please support small business..Natures Reef hands down amazing!!

Great variety. Store is clean and inviting. Two gentlemen helped us with many questions we had regarding Geckos. Prices are a bit higher than average Petsmart and Petco. Realize this is a mom/pop operation so pricing needs to be higher to make ends meet. Help your local businesses .

Was here last year August and October. Both times purchased fish for my aquarium. Staff were really helpful and even took in some Fish that I donated to them. All the fish that I had brought from my visits are thriving!

Awesome place and they also have another sister store site on 91-08 Atlantic ave. Queens. Both stores are fantastic, with great folks working there to help you with any questions , very friendly and informative. Topnotch. They have salt water , freshwater, birds, reptiles etc. Its like going to a mini zoo. All animals are beautifully well kept and healthy. And they have Corals!!! 👀👀👌 for those who are into the reef hobby.👈😁Fantastic coral selection and they keep updating their stock omg love it. Well kept beautiful corals. Thank you guys i love visiting your store and my son loves it too.

Cool little shop with great selection and amazing prices no need to go to a corporate store. They grow their own coral and breed the reptiles themselves. Owner is super friendly. Shop is very clean and well kept. Close by train and parking in the area isn't horrible.

Went for a Black Friday special and came out with a wonderful baby crested gecko and a great tank. The employees welcomed me from the moment I walked in and asked if I needed help right away. Since I knew exactly what I came for, they assisted me immediately and let me pick my gecko. They also reviewed some key do’s and donts which was super helpful. To top it off, I underestimated the size of the tank and they even offered to drop it off for me (I live a few blocks away). The type of wonderful service they provided is impossible to receive at one of those chain pet stores. I will be coming here for all my gecko needs. So grateful for all their help!

We LOVE this store. We have 3 bearded dragons and this place has EVERYTHING we need. The layout is incredible and the prices are the best in NYC. You will not find a gem like this anywhere near the 5 Borough's.

TL, DR: this store sold me a sick snake that died within a week despite following all their guidelines and would offer no exchanges and instead blamed me. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESSIn preparation for my first snake I came in to this store after having read the rave reviews. After doing much research I showed staff the photos of my enclosure and purchased a few items. After ensuring my enclosure was the right temperatures and humidity, I returned to the store to purchase a corn snake hatchling I had viewed the week prior. I was enormously excited to bring home my first corn snake. The staff there even dissuaded me from buying unnecessary things so I felt they were trustworthy.I purchased a lavender corn snake from them and noticed when I brought her home that she had a dark spot on her underbelly. Considering I live in Brooklyn, I figured I would keep an eye on it as perhaps it was feces or a recent meal. I sparsely handled her or bothered the enclosure, except to change her filtered water to allow her to adjust. I gave her her first feeding of the thawed out mice i had purchased at the store on their Sunday schedule. I fed her midday to insure she would have enough heat left to digest. She regurgitated the mouse about 12 hours later. I cleaned it up and disposed of it and figured she must still be adjusting to her new space. She was not underweight decided to continue to leave her alone for the next few days and attempted to feed her again on Thursday.When I went to feed her Thursday she was dead. In shock and despair, I immediately reached out to the store for some reprieve - thinking of course they would apologize and tell me to come in to exchange her. Instead, the staff member on the phone relayed between me and the owner who asked detailed questions about every aspect of my set up. He stopped to question the type of bulb I had, which was sold to me by their employee and recommended by them for my enclosure. In addition, he said it was because I did not have a heat mat the snake was unable to digest the food properly. I did have one, even though I was actually dissuaded by their employees from purchasing one! (My friend had given me one.) I explained this was a splurge gift from a friend, as I have wanted a snake my whole life and am currently undergoing treatment for brain cancer. I even explained the dark spot on the underbelly of the snake that postmortem looks like it has eaten her from the inside out. He told me this is how dead snakes always look.The reality is snakes can go much longer than a week without eating and considering how quickly she died she was definitely ill when I got her a week prior, its just hard to tell in snakes as they do a lot of laying about.The owner blamed me despite having been under their guidance and her enclosures being in optimal conditions, I check the temperature on both sides of the enclosure and the humidity multiple times a day. The owner said the best he could do was offer a FIFTEEN percent discount on another snake (HA!) as if I would give them any more money - after buying all my supplies from them and spending over $200 on a snake!!! Management trying to shirk accountability and blame me when I'm already devastated is nothing other than cruel and reckless. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS CORRUPT BUSINESS!!!!

My experience here was beyond anything I could’ve imagined, honestly. I am new to reptiles and had tons of questions and concerns. I don’t remember who I worked with (sorry!) but he talked with us for over an hour and really reassured our concerns and explained everything. I am horrified I ever thought about going to pet smart or petco. Cannot recommend enough. Also love our new bearded dragon!

They will re-home your reptile for free. Just give them details on the condition of your reptile. I spoke to Willy there who was willing to stay after they closed ( I was coming from Staten Island) so he could take in the Bearded Dragon. I'm happy the Beardie will be taken care of and find a new forever home.From the looks of it, this place has all of your reptile needs. Definitely worth the trek if you're coming from another borough.
