My wife and I stopped by Big Lots yesterday to take a quick look at recliners. Immediately I found the perfect recliner for our needs. Michael, who manages the furniture department immediately came over to assist us. During our initial conversation he uncovered that we may be interested in two of the recliners. We asked for a quote on one recliner. He worked up the discounts on it and also worked up a sweet deal on two of the recliners we liked. With the 15% off coupon you get when signing up for an online account, a 10% discount for Veterans, and 10% off on the display recliner, the cost for two of the reclyners was something that I couldn't walk away from. So today I went to Big Lots to pick them up. Just as Michael had promised, everything was ready for pickup today when I got to the store. Michael helped in loading one of rhe recliners. I took it home and came back for the second reclyner. These are Broyhill recliners and the quality of these are obvious. My wife and I are very happy with the new recliners. We probably wouldn't have purchased one, much less two recliners if Michael hadn't listened us and ask the right questions. Thank you Michael for making this transaction smooth and clear. Went in to get a sofa. All the furniture was blocked off and could barely walk around to look at the furniture. Very uninviting and not good for those with mobility problems. Left without buying anything.

Michael in furniture was amazing. (Even on a Sunday) I haven't had service like that in years. I came in to the Ithaca location with a specific need for my Son's birthday and He showed me all of the options. He even put together the fold out chair for me to see since there wasn't one on the show room yet. I was so impressed. Two days later when I called to pick up, Michael picked up on the first ring and we had the chair I ordered in the best box in the back in my truck and I was off. Top notch service. He made all the difference! Thank you!

We got an incredibly comfortable King mattress here for only $1k! It was more comfortable than the ones at Metro Mattress and other stores (IMO) and less than a quarter of the cost!

Awful customer service in the furniture department. Very rude and sarcastic “salesman”. Hopefully they find a couple new employees who are willing to help customers purchase furniture without acting like we are disturbing their peace. On to a different store from now on.

Went to the furniture section... spoke to the salesperson and specifically mentioned we were shopping with our 85yr old mom and did not want to get her hopes up on a recliner that’s out of stock. The sales person listened but didn’t seem to care. Sure enough we picked an out of stock chair and had to choose second choice. Also as I went to check out, I had a 15 percent off birthday gift... salesperson couldn’t make it work so I said forget it... paid and left. Very frustrating shopping trip...

Made a purchase today and was blown away by the customer service. From Cheryl at register to the furniture manager Cheryl and the brand new manager who had to sell a big item and arrange delivery on the fly. Great job ladies I really appreciate your effort and hard work.

What can I say? It's a discount store. Decent selection of grocery items and more, typically (but not always) cheaper than other stores. In the case of our most-recent trip, it cost about the same as Tops because Tops is running lots of sales this week.

Been going to big lots for yearsGreat for little things! Often times, older electronics that are hard to find anymore are great priced at big lots and I dont have to wait for shipping. I am not sure whether or not to recommend the furniture, as I have never bought any.

My boyfriend and I bought a sectional sofa and tv stand, paid for April 2nd, but not picked up (due to needing to be ordered) until the last weekend in April. Both were kept in packaging and stored for the last couple of weeks until we were able to move to our new apartment. After beginning to move we discovered our couch was missing legs - this is inconvenient but not the end of the world - so we went Sunday morning to get the rest of them. They kindly gave them to us (only good experience, though we did find out that they weren't the right ones - so we had to go back AGAIN).We then discover that our tv stand is missing the whole bottom shelf. We went to the Elmira store (closest to our new apartment, where we were when we started the assembly process) and the people there were WONDERFUL, they went out of their way to help us out. They unfortunately didn't have the piece but after calling a couple different stores they informed us that the Ithaca location had the piece, would pull it for us and put my name on it, I can walk in and pick it up the next day (Monday). When I got there I was treated with nothing but attitude and disrespect; they acted like they had no idea what I was talking about, I didn't have my receipt with me (was told everything was set and good to go) and they couldn't locate my purchase in their system, I was accused of lying about having purchased this piece of furniture, the manager wouldn't even come down to talk to me - absolute nonsense. My father called and was accused of trying to pull a fast one on them because "perhaps you broke it and are now trying to get us to replace it" (NO it's just currently partially assembled all over my living room because I'm unable to finish putting it together).NOW the worst part of this comes next - my boyfriend went in an hour after I had left after he got off work, he wasn't there 20 minutes (mind you, I spent an HOUR there prior to that) and the manager - who's name is apparently JP - was magically able to come down to talk, look up our purchase based on my name and zipcode, print it for him, and went out back to get the piece.We will NEVER return to this store after being treated the way that I was and will certainly never recommend this store to anyone else. No one was willing to do anything to help me out, but a male goes in and says exactly the same things I did and was immediately able to get what we needed. Absolutely ridiculous, avoid at all costs - go to the Elmira or Painted Post locations instead, it's worth the drive.

It's a Big Lots, so it's got a decent selection of weird stuff at reasonable prices. The store is clean and well organized compared to other Big Lots.
