I could sit here all afternoon drinking beer and reading. There’s a bar inside with an assortment of beer and wine. And I thought it was nice to see others sipping pints and reading too. I’ve never been to a bar/bookstore, and I think this is a lovely pairing. There’s a variety of books of all categories, so you’re sure to find something to take with you.

Visited a couple times in the afternoon, during the week. A great spot. Probably the best place in town for a variety of beer. This place is literally a bar within a book shop. It works. They had a solid range on keg, around a dozen beers and ciders, plus another 10+ in cans. Good prices. Friendly enough service. Convenient location, right there on the Main Street in the centre of town. A must-visit if you’re in Hudson and want to drink beer on tap. Highly recommended.

Absolutely in love with this place. It just feels good to be there. What a combination of offerings! Independent book store, craft beer, art supplies, sweet humans. Simply the best place to take a breather, hydrate, hang out.

Great place for enjoying a good book and one (or more) of the 12 local brews they've got on tap. I'd highly recommend doing a 4- or 6-beer flight. Service is great, attentive and friendly!

A wonderful place along the main Hudson retail corridor. Lovely atmosphere with a great selection of wine, beer, and books!!! Clean restroom too!

It was chance that I picked up a pamphlet and found this listing for Spotty Dog books and ale. I immediately said I have to go there!! Luckily I was taking a short trip about 25min across the Hudson. Wow was this place worth it.I could not believe the amount of people who arrived at opening (noon) I waited thinking it would be weird to be there on time. Nope. This tiny place was bustling with foot traffic within a few minutes of opening. The layout could be better, but it's also super cozy. The back room is a nice surprise. Art supplies and art trinkets and toys . The books were organized nicely and it in good condition. I cannot speak to the drinks, however the seating was ok and people were ordering their beverages. The atmosphere of the small town is exactly what I expected and then some. This is truly a must go for any bookworm nearby

Fantastic atmosphere! A great selection of both books and booze, and a great place to stop on a hot day. Staff and patrons alike are relaxed and have good taste in music. Booze is on tap or bottled/canned. A must go for anyone visiting NY or looking for something new to do; we came to Hudson for The Spotty Dog alone!

Best little place to stop in Hudson if your wife likes to read and you well…not so much but do enjoy sitting around on a lazy day with an alcoholic beverage.

Nice little local bookstore with its own eclectic mix. It’s a great idea to have a bar in the bookstore. However, the staff member helping us did not seem very interested in being there anymore, and was impatient. Also, their prices for food seemed a bit high. It’s a place to enjoy a beer and find a new book, and that’s all.

What a delight! We sat outside, enjoyed a cold beverage (beers for us, water for the pups) and did some excellent people watching. Staff was lovely. Excited to go back and do a deeper dive into the shelves!

Wow such a neat concept bookstore and beer dispensary all wrapped into one. The service was phenomenal if you are anywhere near Hudson consider the Spotty Dog for a brew and perhaps a snack.

Trans person here to say that your business is not truly queer friendly if you sell harry potter merchandise. Cute place, good books, but expensive, and did not feel welcoming as someone from out of state.

When I first visited Hudson 9 years ago, the town was cute, with many small shops, and this place was one of those gems. The place has remain unchanged as a great independent bookstore over the years as Hudson has become more hip and upscale surrounding it. Even with all the changes, I still think of this place as very quintessentially Hudson. The staff are friendly, it has the comforting vibe of an independent bookstore, and a local vibe of a small bar. Always a great experience.

Great place for a pint & a new book! They have a nice selection of beers & ciders + some pretty awesome reads + art material. If you love books, visit & if you love a good drink definitely visit. Very casual atmosphere. Perfect location right on Warren Street. Love going here & will be back for sure!

A nice little bookstore and bar. There is a very nice selection of craft and local beers both on tap and in cans. The bookcases bring in a peaceful atmosphere, and the bar staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.

This is a GREAT little spot. Liquor, books, and art supplies. A great combo in itself, with the atmosphere instantly welcoming. The customer base here is varied depending on the day of the week which is what makes it so fun. First time I came here was during a small show featuring the music written and produced by the employees. A good time for sure and a great place for a quick drink!

Books and a bar - also known as heaven on earth to my wife. We've been here twice now...and we've only been to Hudson twice, so that's telling you something right there. Great little bookstore and art shop with a nice old bar and some beat up chairs and couches for just lounging about. Clearly a popular spot for liberal like minded locals and tourists alike, it is a quite welcoming atmosphere and somewhere worth lingering.And the staff are interesting and kind humans. I can't recommend this place highly enough!

Yay! I love this place :) I've been many times for trivia night and short visits. The espresso stout on tap is just delightful and I highly recommend it. If you attend trivia night, they have pizza for sale $2 a slice. Teams are up to four people but you're welcome to have less. Winning team gets the bar tab on the house. The trivia master is a very kind woman.
