I love this location. Everything is fresh. I come here every time I am in the area.I live in the Bronx. The Food town near W. 231 St & Broadway (Riverdale) sells spoiled meat & a sign at the register that you must return it in one day with the receipt or no refund or exchange. They have false use by dates as well. Will no longer shop there.

It's a very helpful local supermarket, but they have a very serious problem with their roof/ceiling which leaks constantly on the food inside and beyond placing a few buckets left and right they do nothing about it. This has been going on for a couple of years at least and I'm surprised they haven't had some issues with authorities at this point... water spilling on the vegetables and fruits can't be good for customers. If this continues I will have to report them myself.

Good experience. Staff is always friendly and knows where everything is. My only issue is my own. I never remember to bring reusable bags lol

This store has serious problems with frozen and chilled food which is clearly not being stored correctly. I bought frozen food there that was mouldy when the box was opened - this could only happen if the product had become wet when defrosting and was then refrozen. Milk, cheese and eggs are regularly left out on carts in aisles, even on warm days. Several times, my milk has soured well before the sell-by date, presumably because it's been left to warm before being put in the chilled cabinet. I contacted the store about my concerns directly through facebook and was immediately blocked. I then contacted the head office who have so far brushed off and ignored the issue. How long before a customer gets sick because of the store's unhygienic procedures?

I'm really happy with Foodtown. When A&P closed, I was really worried that Hastings wouldn't get another everyday supermarket. Some folks wanted to see a Trader Joe's come in, but I was hoping for just a well-stocked and reasonably priced ordinary supermarket with nice staff people. Foodtown was exactly what I was hoping for. I go there for all my essentials. There's nothing fancy about it. They do the basics really well. The bakery is especially good, as is the produce and beer selection. The staff is a notch above what we had at A&P, and they're really courteous and helpful. I hope they stay in business a really long time.

Great selection of frozen foods-and fresh foods. Amazing variety and flavors of,well..everything! Fairly priced, too. Bottle recycling saves you that much more.

Some foods are reasonable on sale! Organic products are great. Products can be expensive in this store! Sometimes they forget to match the actual sale price in the self check out register. I find it annoying and time consuming. I end up having to spend another 30 minutes in there because the cashier has to correct it. Please try to make sure register rings up same price that matches sale price. Also is it true your not accepting returns at all because of Covid 19? We have been getting better. The day manager said no returns at all?? 🙄

I'm rating it for the customer service and the deli. Amazing and sweet staff. I am a mom and was trying to have a picnic and need cold cuts.. Laila was kind enough to prepare them according to my children preference. She even try her best to charge me reasonable. 5 bucks for a prepare boars heads sandwich. Thank you

These folks remain a nice replacement for the old A&P in Hastings. Not the consistent low prices of the bigger chains but have just about anything you need and some nice upscale choices as well. The deli is nice & clean and they make some decent sandwiches.

Love this place it's always clean it's never really crowded and they have the best quality meat a. They can be a little pricey at times but they do have really good sales. The one downfall to them is they package everything in brown paper bags and the handles are not that strong.

The people in the deli have an attitude. They also close the deli before the posted time. You get the feeling the deli employees just want to leave. When they actually do their job, make sandwiches and get your deli food they do okay. I am just made to feel I am bothering them.

Really nice selection of gluten free items. Price wise, I was surprised to see that many items are lower than Whole Foods...and then there are some that are more expensive.A good place to stop off for a lite shop on the way home.Nice staff...though I'm still awaiting a phone call about a case of water I wanted to buy 4 months ago.

Staff is professional. Well stocked and fresh foods. Only issue is you have to watch your prices. I catch mistakes often. Tonight I caught a juice was $2.50 however charged $2.99. They cordially refunded me.

Better than I expected. Good deli section and some gourmet items. Needs better variety of Noosa yogurts, more flavors of Turkey Hill All Natural Ice cream (try it. It's really good) and why don't they carry Hershey's chocolate pudding? It's way better than the Jello version.

Clean and well organized. Fruits and veggies were fresh. I wish the frozen section was better but that's my only complaint.

Seems like the store is set on COVID hours. Newsflash - People are not quarantining now. These hours are for non working people. The deli closes at 7p & the store closes at 9,p sharp. Gonna have to take my business elsewhere.

Workers are super nice and polite. Even though there are variety of items to choose, I didn't find couple of items that I get in Brooklyn. Vegetables and fruits are expensive in comparison to supermarket in Brooklyn.

For a local supermarket this place has everything you need at decent prices. I used to work at this location back when it was The Food Emporium.

I don't mind that they changed their hours. But when thr Foodtown website says the old, longer hours it causes problems.

The customer service is good, and there's a great selection of produce. The floor was a little dirty when I went there, but it had rained previously, so customers probably tracked mud in. Overall though, the cashiers were very friendly and there's a wide array of products

Compared to the A&P that was here before, it's somewhat of a downgrade. The market set-up is confusing and doesn't make sense but once you get used to it, it's okay. The selection isn't the best, it's a fairly small market but it's a good place to go when you need to pick up a few things on your way home. It's convenient in that sense. The self check-out kiosks NEVER work properly. I ALWAYS have to call an attendant to fix the machine, I just don't even bother using it anymore. I've never done and never will do a full food shopping here. I'll stick to ShopRite for that, better prices and more selection.

Used to be good, now empty shelves where items on sale are out of stock. Ethnic music blaring over store speakers. Lots of boxes in the isles making a difficult pass down the isles. Not a pleasant place to shop anymore.

So...Now that Foodtown has been open for some time, I can say I'm really glad they're in the community. The store is clean and organized and the manager is friendly and seems very hands on. Good selection of staples and unusual products. Can't forget.... GREAT craft beer selection!

My first time there , although my husband shops there weekly, was May 5 th ,2019. The store itself was immaculate ,the selection unreal ,but it was the staff that really made my day. Checkout 5 ,Mary ( cashier) and Eric ( bagger) were so pleasant. They should be recognized for super customer service. Sincerely ,Judy Galligan

Nice folks and has everything I need. Hot food has a lot of room to improve though. I like the self-checkout option.

I'm shocked by the good reviews. The produce sucks. Mushy blueberries, asparagus looks old (I bought some and a few days later they were rotting), my cherries didn't last very long. Eggs expired a few days after I bought them without realizing. At least you have a week after printed date, but still. Better get non perishables from here.Only good thing are the prices.

Convenient parking to a well kept, clean store with good weekly sales. Helpful employees with rainchecks if item is sold out. Compliant with ecological conservation - paperbagging purchases as plastic has been outlawed in the village of Hastings.
