Anytime I’ve ever needed help. They helped me with no hesitation. They are concerned about your pet not just what they can make off of your pet being sick. They do need donations because they are a nonprofit organization so anything does help. Mostly cats reside there but there is also veterinarian services for dogs as well. They do shots, spay/neuter. The staff is lovely and friendly and as helpful as they can be. The new Tech I think is a phenomenal new asset to the team She genuinely cares about your baby So Katrin good choice on that one. Pete You have to give the man credit He’s 80 years old and he still shows up I must say his bedside manner has also improved. Chihuahuas are his favorite breed of dog (not that he discriminates) So just be prepared if you have one That’s friendly and not afraid they will definitely get some lovings from Pete lol sorry so long. I usually don’t even do reviews, but I just felt that sometimes People don’t give this place enough credit and don’t realize how much This establishment helps not only The wealthy, Middle class, They also help the people that are just making it by but love their baby And just need a little help sometimes. So thank you for always being good to me whenever I’ve needed help. 🐾 🐶🐈🐈‍⬛

They do great work!I run a small cat rescue andI stopped by to donate a bunch of food that had been donated to me and I can't use it all.I'd rather have it go to someone who can use it than to have it go bad. They have a food pantry for folks who can't afford it and I like to pass it on if I can.

They’ve been helping me with a problematic feral cat at my house. I’ve accepted the fact that this animal is basically my responsibility. It’s tough because he’s been here before I moved in and has “issues” with my indoor cat. Maybe I’ll build a “Catio” and the two of them can reach an “understanding”… but kudos to Animal Kind for loving animals and taking on the effort to protect them.

I use to feral kitten rescue with this place a lot a few years ago. They had given me kittens with ringworm which infected others I had taken in. It was such a nightmare. The owner was not pleasant to deal with either. They don’t return a lot of phone calls during kitten season. Last year I had a very sad case that ended very badly. On the plus side you can rent traps if you need them, just pay a refundable deposit. And they take in some rough cases during kitten season and turn them around. All in all, use them if you need to. The rest of the staff were awesome to work with. Just know that everyone in the rescue business gets overwhelmed during kitten season.

Awesome staff that has helped me tremendously this past week. I really didn't expect to find the help I desperately needed(mainly because it was all so last minute, which was my own fault) and, much to my surprise, I received a phone call last Friday from Betsy. She really did everything in her power to assist me in my endeavor. Betsy made it all possible so that me and my two kitties were able to get in on Monday! When I arrived I met Heather, a very kind young woman who also highly impressed me with her willingness to work with my hectic timing and schedule, was able to even allow me to show up slightly past the closing time! I really didn't expect such amazing and caring customer service because, generally speaking, most businesses during this pandemic don't seem to be as proactive and effective. I was wrong to assume that Animal Kind would be like most other businesses. They seriously showed how much they care and are willing to help their customers, and the animals, that are in desperate need of help.I am absolutely grateful for Betsy's understanding nature and her true care of my delicate situation. I had lost all hope only an hour before she called me on Friday and she truely has been a blessing to me and my kitties. Her love and compassion for the well-being of animals in need shined through from the moment I answered her call.I highly recommend Animal Kind to all that read this. They offer a litany of services as well but they seriously go above and beyond to satisfy the needs of whoever calls to inquire. I know my kitties are in excellent hands while I am unable to have them, and for that, I am forever thankful.-Matt

Katrin and her staff are awesome! The veterinarian saw my dog on short notice and checked her for cancer, which she didn't have. They really put my mind at ease. This place is wonderful!

Warning! If you have ever brought an animal here because it was not yours and you could not take care of it at the time, you will never be allowed to adopt from Animal Kind. My friend is a wonderful person and responsible pet owner but now Animal Kind does not consider her a quaified customer. I will never support Animal Kind.

Very strange place. We submitted application in June, 5-6 pages, references, driver license number etc.. got approved, drove to this place to meet kitten, agreed to adopt 2 of them … then silence. No response to emails or calls. The same kittens still listed on the web site as available. We see 2 other kittens we like to adopt.. the same. We call, they say kittens are available for adoption, and then silence. We’ve been in this place 2 times. This is a small room in the basement, extremely dirty and SMELLS TERRIBLE. They have 3-4 very old cats in the room. Some very strange old ladies wondering around. I think this is some kind of scam to get donations.

Such a wonderful and giving organization. We went to Animalkind to donate money from our egg sales. We toured Animalkind and realized immediately these cats are well cared for and loved by all staff members. If you are thinking of adopting one of these deserving cats, please do so as your life will be full of joy.

I think about this place a lot. I will never forget how they helped out with a cat I brought to them years ago.I had a kitty that was coming around my yard in Brooklyn NY. I knew this cat wanted an outdoor life but I was planning a move and I knew Brooklyn wasnt the best spot for it. Its a long story but it used to be owned by a deli and ended up outside.I started to email and call any place I could drive the cat to around the NY area. Where he could have an outdoor home but be provided for with food and stuff. I sent out so many messages and this place was the only one to respond. Like I contacted and called so many places. Not only did they say they would take it but Katrin offered for the cat to live on her farm land that she had 1 opening. When I pulled up there were several cats on the property and she came out from her home nursing a kitten. Seemed like she was going above and beyond. She did all the proper things kept the cat confined in her barn for 2 weeks before releasing. I wanted to keep better track of how he was but it did seem like a busy place and I didn't want to pressure for updates once I surrendered him. I hope he's still have a nice life there. It seemed perfect for him to roam not near cars and have some kitty friends and still get food and stuff.I was never at the shelter but judging by how she responded to the email where people at other shelters never did. She could of easily dismissed me the same way. I can only recommend and support this place. Also how she took this cat on her private property seems above and beyond the duties of running a shelter. So I wanted to leave some love in a review. I can only speak to my experience but it was one that I will never forget.

These people are adopting out Feral cats to people with no regard to the public I was bitten by a cat my friend adopted that was so aggressive it bit me broke my bone in my finger 3 weeks later still on massive antibiotics and may loose my finger. What if that was a small child ? I would recommend going to the humane society they do not adopt out feral animals that have the potential of being dangerous.when I called to check on there policy and procedures on adopting out these kind of animals she was very nasty and hung up I called back and she was still very hostile which only shows that she only cares about getting rid of them at any price so be careful those who have there cats you may loose a finger or a child’s hand

Absolutely love my forever buddy, Marshmellow, who we adopted from them. Katrin and her workers are absolutely amazing and super friendly. As a kid who has autism he is for lack of a better term, my therapy kitty. Also theyre the only animal rescue around that i know of that recieves cats from Egypt. Found out that if you want a rescued Persian of any type OR want one from Egypt or both then thats where you go.

The work the AnimalKind does is extraordinary. Katrin, Nancy and all the teams are truly passionate about serving their mission of protecting and keeping stray cats healthy and offer them a prospect for a adoption and good life. I saw closely the essential work they do and their patience with various situations. All the community of people in the area should be grateful for the AnimalKind’s existence and operation.

Very helpful staff very attune to how difficult it is to give up a beloved cat. The take in procedure was thorough.I feel sure my kitty will be well looked after and quickly find a new home.I highly recommend this shelter.

They took care of my daughters kitten. We thought he was going to lose his foot because of a bad infection and they were great!

I love my cat I've adopted from them. But would highly recommend taking your newly adopted cat to a vet after leaving there. Mine had really bad worms. And ring worm. And ear mites. AND a respiratory infection. Poor kitty was so sick, glad we found eachother though, we are so pleased with him, hes so sweet! It's so sad they have as many cats there as they do, these fur babies need good loving homes. Adopt from your local shelter.

AK didn’t like my honest review so they refuse to let me take on anymore fosters. Had to harass them for a week just to get the foster kittens their shots. Ended up being 3 weeks later then when they are suppose to get them.Owner uses cats as pawns. Have voice recording of a phone call with her saying I couldn’t adopt a cat unless I took my 2 star review down. Also, 5 kittens on their website that I fostered are 2 weeks older than what they claim. Owner knew the exact day the kittens were born so she is purposely lying about the ages of the kittens. My advice: go elsewhere to find your forever family. They don’t care about the cats, they care about money! If I could give zero stars I absolutely would.

In the month of (late) February 2023. My partner and I were looking to adopt two cats. We came across animal kind..a shelter that seemingly offered almost everything we needed as far as future care for our new little kittens. When we adopted them we were told they were sick. They had a URI and Sinusitis. We were sent home with antibiotics (not shown how to use..nor was the medicine properly labeled as to what cat should received it) . When one of our cats became sicker, I contacted the shelter in which they told me everything was normal…and to just keep giving her medicine and smelly foods (because she wasn’t eating which was mentioned to animal kind). This was after calling a couple times before. Unfortunately, 2 days AFTER they responded and told us it’s normal..our cat passed away. Not even 2 weeks of having her (a week and maybe 4 days! She passed 3/7/2023). She was diagnosed (after death) by our local vet with DISTEMPER. Another adopter in the reviews had a similar problem at this shelter..only maybe a week before we visited. I wished I had seen the review..Distemper is highly contagious between animals, with a high mortality rate. Something like 80-90%. Once our cat passed away we reached out multiple times. When Animal Kind gave us a call back..there was no sorry, questions, condolences. Simply “how long did you have her?” & “Did you call and tell us” And that someone would reach out to us. No one ever did. We faced the loss of our new kitten by ourselves, and had to continue to keep a tight eye and care on our other kitten. We will not be trusting Animal Kind with anymore further care or any future adoptions.I would also like to add, when telling animal kind about the passing of our kitten, I requested their (both cats! The one who passed as well) medical papers so I could get our other cat registered at vet.To make sure she’d be ok. They refused, because our cats were supposed to be “Foster to Adopt.” So finding a vet has been a journey in itself because of this.So now we have no medical records unless we allow Animal Kind to Spay our cat. Knowing Distemper was in their shelter and we were not helped during a very tough time especially so early in our adoption…we can not do that. We won’t be. Our local vet even told us we shouldn’t adopted another cat for months (3-4) until the disease (Distemper) is at the end of its life, if still in our house. It was traumatizing to see our kitten (she was 5-6 months!) pass away. It’s been over a month and we have yet to hear from Animal Kind about the passing of our cat OR our scheduled spay appointment (that we wouldn’t want anyway.)Another add. After our cat passed away we brought her to a vet to be taken care of (private cremation) . And we were immediately forced to go home and disinfect everything with bleach.. that could be bleached. We spent the whole day washing clothes, sheets, furniture, wall to floor so our other kitten wouldn’t be sick. It was serious. I wished it was taken as so. I lost my childhood cat of 15 years not even 3 years ago…so to see another one of my kittens leave so soon felt so devastating. Many people have said it before. Yes…please get your fur companions checked. I know there’s immediate comfort when an animal shelter seems to have the medicine, the solutions and the smiles to your cats problems when adopted. Don’t take the risk. I won’t ever. And yup. I told Animal Kind it was Distemper when we finally talked. No there was no care or response to that.

Animalkind lives up to its name. Low cost spay and neuter is such a blessing. They truly care about the animals they rescue. The shelter is clean and designed with the pets in mind.

AnimalKind is such a special place! My husband and I are coming up on a year since we adopted our cat! They were so informative and let us meet all the cats before choosing the right fit. There was no pressure and the staff makes sure that it’s a good fit with wonderful follow ups! We could not be happier with the experience and wish we could adopt allllllllllll the cats!!

I adopted my cat from Animal kind almost 3 years ago. To this day the staff here are some of the most pleasant people I've ever met. They were super kind, compassionate and went above and beyond for me by staying open late. And if all this weren't enough, I will be eternally grateful for them rescuing my sweet cat, Cleopatra and bringing us together.
