There are a lot of stairs to walk down to get in and back out of the cave. We had two smaller children on our tour. The guide and others in our group were very patient with them being slower, which was fabulous to see. They were very slow at the time that we went, late afternoon. There isn't much to their gift shop. The cave tour wasn't very long. The most impressive part of the tour was the waterfall at the end.

Secret Caverns was a very cool experience. We've been to another local cave in the area, but Secrets Caverns was able to create a more personal feeling adventure. Our tour guide, Matt, was very knowledgeable and funny, and the pace of the tour was not rushed. I would highly recommend checking out Secret Caverns if you're in the central New York location. My one piece of advice would be to make sure you wear proper footwear because it is a bit wet in areas of the caverns.

CASH ONLY. Fun, quirky, one-of-a-kind, multi-generational family business. Tour the natural cave with several underground oddities. Safe, guided 45 minute to an hour tours. Beautiful underground waterfall. The company isn't too strick about things... pretty laid back. :. Nice gift shop/mini museum. Some real treasures in evert direction. Great for kids who can handle walking for a while. Not overly strenuous (~100 stairs). Approximately 45°F tempure. Recommend light jackets, no sandals.

**4.5 stars**The Secret Caves is a great place to visit for a unique and adventurous experience. The caves are well-maintained and easy to navigate, and the tour guides are very informative and friendly. The cave tour takes about an hour and covers a variety of different formations, including stalagmites, stalactites, columns, and flowstone. The tour guide provides a lot of information about the geology and history of the caves, and they also share some interesting stories and legends. One of the things that I loved most about the Secret Caves is that they are not overly commercialized. The caves are still very natural and untouched, and it feels like you're really exploring a hidden gem.Another thing that I appreciated was that the tour guides were very respectful of the caves and their environment. They made sure that everyone stayed on the marked trails and did not touch any of the formations.Overall, I had a great time at the Secret Caves. It's a great place to visit for a unique and adventurous experience. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and educational activity. Here are a few specific things that I loved about the Secret Caves:* The caves are well-maintained and easy to navigate.* The tour guides are very informative and friendly.* The caves are not overly commercialized and still feel very natural and untouched.* The tour guides are very respectful of the caves and their environment.**There are a few stairs involved in the tour, so it may not be suitable for people with mobility issues.Overall, I highly recommend the Secret Caves for a unique and adventurous experience.

We really liked the caverns - adults and kids. It was really pretty , nice and cool in the summer weather .. we were fine in our sneakers with the wet ground . My only complaint is that I would have liked to hear what the tour guide was saying but since the caves were narrow we had to walk in a line and whoever’s at the back of the line (like us) would be too far away to be able to hear anything the tour guide says

We had a great tour guide, laid back and let us take our time. There is a 100 ft waterfall at the end which was pretty amazing. The stairs back up give a decent workout. Don't forget your sweatshirt. Overall my 6 yr old loved it and so did I! Thanks for the great conversation too!

One of the best little adventures I've been on this year. Randomly found this place online, and the pics made it seem pretty cool. On the way to the cavern, there's some awesome beautifully painted billboards for the secret Cavern, which made the excitement stronger. When we arrived, the building was a masterpiece just like the billboards. Everything inside was decorated to the ceiling, even the bathrooms. All of the employees were colorful and friendly with lots of facts about the 97yr old cavern. The walk down was damp so bring shoes that won't get too wet, or boots if possible. It was quite the experience and planning on going back in the future.

This was my first cave tour in a long time and it was great! Tour guide was very informational and told the history of the cave. Tour starts with how the cave was "accidently" discovered by two cows in the 1920's. Then you go down over 100 steps into the caves. The cave has colorful lighting to illuminate the best spots in the cave. While the cave doesn't have any really "roomy" spots it does have the 100 foot waterfall at the end, which is one of a kind.Unlike many other places you can see and touch the walls. On my tour they even shut off the lights to see what is like without the lights! Passage way to waterfall can be narrow and wet, but that adds to the authenticity of the tour. If in the area definitely worth seeing. Tour is about an hour long.Gift shop and tour is cash only.

Love the tour guide Mike, very funny. Not as commercialized as Howe. Cool art. Gift shop had low priced stuff. No extra fees like Howe. Nice tour

The whole experience was fantastic! We went down with a small group of 7. I had a 9yr old and 4 yr old and they both really enjoyed this. Be sure to wear sneakers or something like that as the walkways are a bit wet and you do have to walk down and back up 103 stairs. The waterfall was worth the walk. Definitely check this place out!

Wonderful cave experience for all ages!!! Bring a rain coat, boots of some sort and a flashlight. While the guide has one and the cave has lights , I found we wanted to see other things and the guide was up ahead or talking to other guests. Phone lights wasn't enough. There is a really epic waterfall at the end of the cave!!!

"The Caveman" and our tour guide "Mike" made this a great experience for our families. I am 6'7" and a couple spots were a little tight, overall not too bad. The waterfall made the steps worth it!!! Very knowledgeable and laid back. Relax and enjoy it!! Would recommend and plan to return.

Matt our guide was very friendly and informative, there was a small group in our tour which was great. The caverns were well lit and maintained. I would suggest u wear good shoes because the caverns are wet and slippery. The 100 foot waterfall is beautiful.

We had such a great time here yesterday!! We’ve been to Howes Cavern before, but this was our first time at Secret Caverns. While both are cool to see, we liked it here even more. The tour felt more relaxed but still full of interesting information and humor. The gift shop had a lot of cool things to buy and everyone gets a free sticker! :)

This was the 3rd such cavern I visited , the first in the USA and honestly speaking this is the best maintained one. This place must be different in spring or summer , nevertheless we enjoyed our trip in the winter too. This place was accidentally discovered when 2 cows accidentally fell into the cavern while grazing. The then proprietor sold it to another person , and the same family still manages or owns this place. It's a property managed very well. It's strictly entrance by ticket only. Initially a person or guide shows the spot where the cows fell and then carefully leads through the flight of stairs and then it's a a meandering but plain walk. The interiors are well lit and maintained. One can easily walk at your own place. At the end is a waterfall. The temperature inside remain moderately same throughout the year. There is a souvenir shop which leads to the tavern . Once you have finished your trip do ask for the stickers , as a souvenir , which the gentleman at the counter gives away.I did not observe any rest room around.

Secret Caverns affordable family activity. Cash only to pay for tickets and souvenirs. Not a long path, ends at a naturally made 100 foot under ground waterfall. Would recommend wearing a sweatshirt while in the cave and be prepared for your feet to get slightly wet.

This place is phenomenal. My husband and I went to see Howe caverns prior to this and I 10000% recommended Secret Caverns over Howe Caverns. We’re brought along quite the crew and it was great for photography. The waterfall is so worth going. There are a lot of stairs but they’re not terrible on my opinion. It’s more relaxed than Howe Caverns and offers way more to see. Matt the guide was awesome. He was extremely knowledgeable and had a lot of cool stories about the Caverns. If we were staying in New York longer I’m sure we would go back time and time again. It’s truly a wonderful place. Fun fact: in the winter it can be warmer than what the temperature outside is so don’t let that stop you from the fun!!!

Awesome people and an amazing waterfall at the end! Just be sure to wear some good shoes because the cavern is very slick. It is a gem on the rough and makes the experience all that much better. It is not a big place but is so morth the visit with your family.
