Best DG around by far!! Clean, well stocked, and presented. Always have what I want and need. Very nice and friendly staff. Brandy runs a great store. She rocks!! If you're a dg shopper, I recommend going a few extra miles to come to this one. I come here all the time, I go to no other! Lol

Have had several issues with this store. Management seems receptive to the issues when brought to their attention. A big issue I have is the store CLAIMS to be handicapped assessible, but its not although the outside walkways are slanted off the actual parking lot.... Which is LOADED with HUGE CRATERS ALL THROUGH THE PARKING LOT. The door is NOT handicapped assessible. You have to REALLY pay attention to the registers; they OFTEN ring higher than the shelf tag says. But I still go there mostly because I know where stuff is, they are polite & professional, (most of them) & friendly. The location is convenient for me.

Always fully stocked items. Have never been disappointed. Staff is wonderful, always so helpful no matter the issue! I highly recommend this place to shop for all your needs.

Yes employees are good,....usually overworkedIt’s the management I have a problem with. As with all of the dollar general stores I’ve been in, they are always moving the merchandise around and it ticks me off.Perhaps the reason for that, is they want to keep you in the store longer so you buy more merchandise

Store had been a huge mess for the past several months with boxes blocking the aisles and merchandise not organized well.However over the past two weeks, they seem to have more help and are making a small dent in the mess. Hopefully the clean up will continue.

Nothing special, a dollar store is a dollar store, but this one is really kinda cramped, i mean to the point that if someone is in an else with a cart (even how small they are) you will have to wait or move along and come back....makes for a longer walk to get only a few things than i wanted.

I spend a lot when I go here. I find some and then more if what I didn't go for. always pleasant employees.. always helpful when I need them. decent prices . I also get groceries here when needed

They only honored my coupon for Coca-Cola once. The 2nd set of 3 cost me full price. No problem , it was only for a buck.

At 9:10 PM on Tuesday, December 03, 2013, both Esa and her daughter, Nina, were approached by Trisha Elwood, the Manager at Dollar General Store (who had been following them around the store during their Christmas shopping) at 3164 Lake Rd in Horseheads, NY 14845, after their purchases and in front of other customers and two cashiers, said “Ma'am, can I see what’s in your bag” to Nina Hernandez without any cause or explanation. Nina, responded “sure” and allowed her to see the contents of her purse. Esa, was offended and upset and asked the manager if she’d like to check hers as well, and the Manager did. Then, after leaving to the main entrance, infuriated by what happened, Esa and Nina went back inside the store to complain and get an explanation of why they were specifically targeted and the manager said in a condescending and accusing tone that “both of you were seen on camera leaving the store several times and coming back,” insinuating that both Esa and Nina were shoplifting. Esa responded by calling the manager a liar and saying “shame on you” and demanded to see this so-called proof on camera, knowing that she and Nina had never left the store while shopping. The manager said she couldn’t show this proof because no one was allowed in the office. Then Esa, still infuriated, proceeded to complain, and was so upset that she nearly fainted because of her high-blood pressure and asked the cashier for a chair so she could sit and calm down. The manager went into the office and would not come out and further assist in the matter. After Esa felt well enough to leave, all items was returned and refunded. Esa and Nina then left and went to Nina’s house where they proceeded to call the Customer Service Helpline and submit her complaint…NOTHING WAS DONE…If you want to be accused of stealing, and lied to in front of people this is the place to shop, otherwise, your money can be spent where you are respected as a customer…

So this is the new dollar general in Horseheads on old ithaca road. Staff is friendly and funny. We love Michelle she's goofy as hell and great to talk to.

Typical Dollar General. They have the typical items for the same places that you see in General Dollar stores all across the country. The only issue I have with this particular Dollar General location is that the store seemed smaller and more cramped. Isles were narrow and it felt almost claustrophobic.
