This pet store is great! A big variety of pet supplies and cute baby pets like puppies, bunnies, budgies, hamsters, parrots, etc. If you want to buy a puppy, you can request to have some personal time to play and see the reactions. We love to come here because the atmosphere is adorable...just being there is lovely.

We walked in looking for a Chihuahua and found one we fell in love with. They had small rooms to view the dogs and the atmosphere was clean and open. The dogs were all in very good shape and looked very healthy. They also have an area where you can get supplies for the animals. Overall we had a very good experience here and would recommend this place to all of our friends.

I beg of you. Do not buy a dog at this place. I had such a heart wrenching, horrific experience. I picked up my yellow lab, British not American, and he was already 6 to 8 months old. It was during Covid and I lost my own, Lab… I had really wanted to Rescue but everything was closed.They gave me about two seconds in a room with this puppy and I worried immediately about his behavior. The man that was helping me asked me flowed out. Are you taking him or not? I just could not allow them to put this robust, overactive, manic dog back into a little crate. I really think he would’ve died.I brought him home in the saga continues. He’s been diagnosed with terrible trauma, and I know that he was kept at the store for a long time. Noises would make him manic, he was very aggressive, and I had a few problems… In any case, after four years of doing trainers, you name it, I rehomed him with a border that specializes in difficult dogs.I wouldn’t wish this experience on anybody and I beg of you to be careful. With any purchase of an animal, breeder or store, doing your research is the best thing you can do to protect you and your new baby.

Shake a Paw has provided our family with the most gorgeous HEALTHY pure bred pups for over 13 years and I will always purchase my pups from them. My daughter and I go there weekly for specialty pup food and we adore Jade. She sold us our last Beautiful Baby Boy. She remembers their names, their breeds, has great advice and it’s a vibe I actually love. I love picking out their bones and asking questions with the staff about supplements and diets etc. The staff is awesome- to be honest a lot of the customers are rude LOL!! Don’t let the negative reviews or shaming prevent you from checking out the pups Get the pup that’s the best fit for your family. Sorry Lastly: Puppies get sick, adult dogs get sick, pets get sick and it’s our responsibility to care for them!! I know it’s scary, stressful and sometimes gross, costly but whether you like it or not most puppies get parasites, colds, limps and lumps and wait till they get old haha etc, as a pup parent it’s YOUR responsibility to care for them and be the most nurturing and responsible pet parent!!

Poor babies.. the younger puppies and kittens are in cages with wire floors. It must be horrible to walk on.The dogs and rabbits are adorable. But after being in here for a while and getting over the cuteness factor, you start to notice the sad parts of these animals’ lives.Also the shake a paw location in lynbrook was forced to stop selling puppies due to their poor practices if you didn’t know..

Wow is all I can say. My fiancé and I along with her 10 year old daughter went there last night. I wanted to get my fiancé a puppy for Mother’s Day. Unfortunately, we were not “allowed” to adopt from two agencies because we live in a condo. That’s ridiculous but maybe was meant to be so that this beautiful little girl can have an amazing life. I want to give a very special THANK YOU to Dominic. He was absolutely amazing. Friendly, professional, caring, informative, and most importantly, he REALLY loved the animals which showed. When our purchase was done, Dominic carried our new pup out and sat her in my fiancé’s lap. He kissed her and told her to enjoy her new forever home. What an amazing man and I thank him for helping us find this new joy!

I got my puppy Cersei from here about 2 months ago, she is the sweetest and smartest little girl. She is the most friendly dog I’ve ever seen! She did have a parasite but that is pretty common in puppies and shake a paw covered the 1st vet visit and medication costs! They are quite expensive BUT I think it’s worth it because they guide and help you so much and explain everything you need to know.

Purchased my baby toy poodle from this store in July 2020, she is an amazing dog. Never had a single issue with her, Im so grateful to have found her and take her home, she is my angel girl. I would absolutely come here again. Thank you!

My comment is how unhappy I am with this pet store. I will never recommend this pet store to anybody and will do the opposite to make sure no one purchases from here to save them the upsetment. I was told that my puppy wasn’t vaccinated to go outside for 3 weeks therefore I started peepee pad training inside…go to vet 3 weeks later when puppy can go outside to be told my puppy could have been going outside all along and never would’ve been peeing or pooping in my brand new house. The vet also told me that my puppy had TWO parasites from this pet store as they claim the health and well being of their puppies. And on top of this the employee helping us sold us $700 worth of stuff we had said NO too that we had to come back and return days later. This pet store sucks and has no idea what they’re doing.

Never in my life have I hated a place more. They don’t even deserve a half a star. I understand sick and injured dogs may sometimes come with adopting. It happens and it’s highly unfortunate. I have heard horror stories about this place and I wish I listened. My dog is now 3 and never once has had a happy moment. Since a year old he has chronic pain. Double hip dysplasia, elbow deterioration, severe allergies. He cries everyday. He is 3 years old and can not even take a 5 minute walk. We have talked to experienced vets and surgeons who have told us the majority of his issues are due to improper breeding. Breeders who are aware of issues with adult dogs and continue to breed for money knowing the puppies will be in the same pain and live terrible lives. From the moment we expressed concerns with our dog when he was first taken home, the only option they gave was to put him down and replace him with a new dog. They literally told us “well we can give u and new dog and put this one down.” I can’t even explain the disgust I feel with this place. I pray everyday this chain is shut down. Please do not give them your business. The sick and pained animals do lot deserve this. All for them to make a quick buck. Disgusting, horrendous place. SHUT THEM DOWN!

I can't believe this puppy mill of a store front is still open! Please never buy a dog from here. They are known to buy dogs from inhumane places that just pump out dogs. I bought a Yorkie from there 8 years ago and I am still living with her health conditions which not only cost a fortune, but drives me insane everyday. If it wasn't for my wife with a huge heart, the dog would have been gone 7 years ago.

Adopted a 4 month old mini dachshund, she's been everything we've wanted and more. Her dewclaw was incorrectly removed, and Shake a Paw paid for its removal. They recommended a wonderful vet, who we love. Side note- we went in every Saturday for several months simply to play with puppies before we found the perfect one. Shake a Paw was very patient with us during this process and helped us pick out the best puppy.

Great place to get a puppy! Super satisfied and the person who helped us was amazing.. The only thing I suggest is to not get all of the food and or vitamins the store recommends as the dog doesnt need all of it. Buy a bag of food, go to Vet first and then they can recommend vitamins or other supplements.

I went here yesterday with my fiance to look for a puppy & we ended up going home with the sweetest french bulldog puppy. The staff here was so friendly & helpful. Jade helped us from the minute we walked in, through all the paperwork & even helped us shop for everything we needed after. The staff seemed genuine like they cared for all the animals and their customers.Highly recommend them!

I have only good things to say about this place. I made an appointment to visit a dog I'd seen on their website and when there the staff was super helpful and very friendly(I think the gentleman who helped us was named Francis).After purchasing my lab, we took him to a vet for a check up (as suggested by Shake a Paw) and he was given a clean bill of health.Quincy has been home with us for about a month now and he just brings so much joy.Thank you!

The manager James, and Chris who sold me my beautiful girl are absolutley AMAZING. Chris was honest, kind, and as true as they come. He sat me and my boyfriend down and told us how it was. No beating around the bush. He was very straight forward, and truly an amazing person alone! I was about to walk out, when he convinced me to stay and look at 1 more puppy. Which was the best decision I ever made because I ended up with my baby Chloe. Extremely clean store! You can tell the workers here care about the animals. Their bins are always clean with fresh water and food. Im so in love with my puppy, and couldn't be happier. Thank you to the amazing team over at Shake a Paw of Hicksville, AND especially a HUGE THANK YOU TO JAMES AND CHRIS!!!!!!!!!! I'll never be able to thank you both enough!!!!!!! <3

I am very upset with this place bc they sold me a sick puppy and wouldn't take her back and issue me a refund. On 07/08/2023 I bought a Shih-poo, 4 month old female puppy for $2,500 and the sales associate confirmed that it's a healthy puppy. In addition, I paid almost $850 worth of food and other essential items needed for the puppy as per the associate recommendation. I told the representative that I have never had a dog before and its my first time getting a dog. I called the place and informed them that the puppy has been making weird sounds, and feels like she is choking and gagging and is not feeling well. Since I was very worried, I rushed the puppy to a veterinarian for check up and found that the dog has severe ear infection and severe upper respiratory infection that has to be treated with antibiotics. The veterinarian requested me to also get parasit screening, which cost me $74. The veterinarian suggested me to give canned food to the puppy as she was not eating a lot. I called Shake a paw and informed what dr said and requested them to take puppy back as I cant take care of the sick puppy while working full time and being a single parent But Shake a Paw refused to take puppy back. They advised me to give the puppy to a friend or family member. I have been advised by my attorney to file a lawsuit against Shake a Paw and report them to business bureau.

I wish I can give a negative 5 star review. Please DO NOT SHOP HERE. I have never been so disappointed in an establishment as much as this one. We brought home our puppy last week. At the time of pick up —They coerce you to buy “All life stages” food for a puppy and HOLD your paid for puppy hostage~~~ until you do so, if that is not beyond Wrong, I don’t know what is!!Although we adore our little pup, my advice is, If you want a nice /decent place with some integrity I would Look elsewhere—invest in a breeder. I regret walking into this store 😞

Bought a puppy 9 days ago, they are very expensive yet worth it. My only thing was the cereal I bought and 6 cans weren’t for her breed. She didn’t like it. And the girl who attend me stated my puppy would eat it. ($125 down the drain) my bichon frise was $4752 Again pricy yet beautiful puppy. Don’t come here unless you willing to spend this amount

We've bought 3 Wheaton Terrirers from this store and have been very happy. The only downside is that one of our Wheaties has hip dysplasia and had some medical problems after we got her. Overall the staff was helpful and seemed to genuinely care for the dogs.

We bought our first and second Miniature Schnauzer from Shake a Paw Hicksville. Our first miniature schnauzer we purchased from them was about 14 years ago and turned out great!! No heath issues and a very happy dog!!! So far so good with the new puppy. The manager and staff were very nice and worked with us on price. Overall, the store was clean, it didn’t smell, and the dogs looked healthy. We looked at the other Pet Stores in the area but the puppy we wanted turned out to be again at Shake a Paw Hicksville. They definitely do good a job.

I adopted a cocker spaniel from here! The dog is absolutely amazing. I love this dog so much! The workers there were very helpful and always answered all my questions. They are very nice and helpful when I go back to get food or toys from there.

Went to see these adorable little puppies some time ago and thinking of buying one but decided to see if we can play with one of the puppy in the little rooms first. My daughter built up the courage to go ask one of the female staff, she was right next to her and got completely ignored and walked away. It was very obvious to her that my daughter was talking to her. The staff seems to show no interest in helping my child, unsure of the reason but she possibly think my daughter was just there to waste their time to fool around instead.

I’ve been to shake a paw a few times and found it to be a first rate pet store. Each time I had the pleasure of speaking to Dominick. He was so knowledgeable about the puppies and dogs in general. Dominick provided useful information about nutrition, and how to care for dogs and was very kind to the animals in the store. The puppies seemed very happy and their space was super clean.

I walked into the establishment with two of my friends to look at some puppies to buy. We also wanted to take pictures of the puppies and we confirmed on the phone that it was okay. After driving to the store which was an hour away, the manager informed us that we are not allowed to take photos. After this my friend got into an altercation which the manager of the store got so angry that he threatened to fight my friend after being told it was unprofessional how they handled the situation. I would recommend anyone with pets to stay away from this store.
