This is a fantastic feed company. When I wasn't getting the results from a popular chicken feed company, they recommended a product Nutrina. Since using Nutrina, the eggs have a bright orange yolk and the volume of eggs has increased. Nutrina was less money than the popular chicken food. Very happy with the service and low prices.

I get monthly outdoor bird seed supplies from here. They also sell chicken feed, horse feed, dog food, etc. The bird seed is higher quality and they sell larger quantity, priced accordingly. Their website does not list the amount of products they have in stock. It’s worth a look if you are seeking better quality feed and other products not readily available at pet stores or big box stores.

Do not get hay from them. The quality is horrible. Barely green. Mostly brown. And when I called they said “that’s the color”. I’ve gotten hay for years and oxbow is way better. I PAID $30 for delivery and they left it outside and DID NOT even call to let me know it was outside…had it rained ALLL of it would’ve been ruined. Sad part is…all they had to do was walk a few extra steps to leave it inside past the front door so it wouldn’t be exposed to the elements (they don’t bag it understandably). Waste of money. Now I have to pay extra to correct the issue myself. Don’t advertise quality hay on your website if it’s not. UPDATE: I called again and spoke to a supervisor who was empathetic and understanding. I was able to get a refund issued. If you order-I suggest picking out and picking up your own bale.

I ended up going here for the first time ever because I recently bought a new rabbit so I needed hay. I was buying oxbow hay for my bunny because I heard it’s the best you could buy from the store, the only issue is my bunny was eating to much in a week (the bags are small) and wasting to much at the same time. I got fed up and searched up places I could buy hay and this one had the best reviews! I now see why their reviews are great. I bought a bale of Alfalfa hay for my baby rabbit and I’ve NEVER seen him go that crazy for hay. He literally stuffed his face in it and couldn’t get enough. I will most definitely be back in the future and I highly recommend them. They had good customer service as well. The bale was gigantic and will surely last me at least 5 months or more. Was only around $60ish after tax. It’s very large and heavy so be able to carry it or have accommodations.

Great place for all of your animal needs. Staff is super helpful. You will find some of the best independent food brands on the market at this place. Sadly one of the last old time "feed" stores around. Pricing is a few dollars more than other big box stores, but always worth the extra bucks for the best service and possible options for your pets. Whether it be a dog or your backyard bards my favorite place to buy food!

Called on Sat to pick up hay. Was told they were open to 4PM. Drove in from Centerport in Suffolk County. They were closed. Sign on door says close @ 3PM. Don't there employees know that?

Great store, needed millet for a project and they had a 50lbs bag for 40 bucks. Cheapest I found anywhere. Clean store and they carried it out to my car.

Chestnut Vale Feed is the most expensive feed store on Long Island, they charge much, much, more for Purina products than any other feed store, they NEVER offer 2nd cut hay, only medium quality 1st cut hay, and they have a limited selection of grains, that are very expensive. The account Enid was consistently rude despite my very long time customer patronage, I endured hostility from her despite my account always maintaining excellent a paid in full status! It’s disheartening to have such rudeness when dealing with such a small business. Don’t use chestnut Vale Feed, they are nice until they ARE NOT NICE!

The absolute worst experience at a feed store I have ever had, The man at the cash register was unhelpful rude and abrasive.He shushed me with his hand when i asked a question, told me to hurry up he had other people to take care of .It was 25 min till closing Did not want to give me prices or any of the information I ask for, because he said it was to close to closing. My 1st time at this feed store and definitely my last. By the way I only asked for 4 bags of shavings a bag of feed and 2 bales of hay. I'm giving one star because the man that helped us load was very nice .

I really like this place. It's easy to get to, parking is right in front. I'm new to backyard chickens, and they carry everything that I need. In the Spring, they have baby chicks. They help me get everything into my car. Pricing is reasonable. Everyone is helpful and friendly. The website is not great, but someone very nicely helped me over the phone. What's not to like?

This place is awesome! They have a variety of pet and livestock supplies. Staff and owners are super nice, helpful and informative. They keep up on all current trends for the self sustainable kind of people like me. Chicken food/coop supplies, baby chicks, beekeeping, horse feed and so much more. I always come here to buy my chicken feed and they carry other feeds as well. Chestnut have horse feed, rabbit feeds and other. I think they also carry stuff for bees. Every year they sell chicks at the store and also have seminar teach people how to raise chickens.

Does not open till 9am on Saturdays. The time is wrong on this page. How do I know? Because we’re here at 8am on Saturday and no one is nearby! Otherwise a great location to fulfill all your animal feed needs.

Small, but great if you are local and need basic feed supplies. As a Brooklynite with 6 chickens, I'm out here once a month as they have all the feed, scratch, and straw I need at a good price.
