I was very happy at the butler level service Fern and Joseph at Hewlett provided for my cat Baxter. I adopted him from the Animal Care Center on 110 St last January so I was worried he would feel abandoned again when I went on safari to Botswana /South Africa for 2 weeks. But Hewlett Pet Resort took really good care of him and provided lots of TLCare, groomed him so he was in really good mood when I came to pick him up. Once home he immediately jumped up on window sill and looked out window like usual. My only quibble is that I had sent the ACC vaccinations he received so I don't understand why he was vaccinated for rabies and distemper again.

Took our leopard gecko in today for her first visit. It was a very positive experience from the moment we called for an appointment.Dr. Zipkin took time to thoroughly explain our pet's diagnosis and treatment with us. You know that he truly loves his calling.

I have witness the treatment of many animals in this Hospital š„ the feces, the urine the scent is horrifying you donāt even get to go in the doctors office because the doctors room is disgusting and the way they treat your animal is horrible a dog was found dead in the basement a few weeks ago and they try to cover it up they canāt even keep their employees. Everyone is quitting, or everyone got fired for telling the truth Donāt keep quiet about this horrible hospital They wonāt allow you to see the back room because itās disgusting 𤢠š¤®pet owners are spending hundreds even thousands of dollars for their furry babies to stay in this disgusting place that is filled with lies and dishonesty, be careful where youāre sending your babies to get treatment. Do not go to this hospital š„ it needs to be shut down

I have to express my deep disappointment with my experience at this place. They offered me a job with certain hours and conditions, but they never fulfilled what was promised. Furthermore, after completing the work, they refused to pay me as agreed upon. This lack of professionalism and disregard for people's time and work is unacceptable. I would not recommend this place to anyone due to their lack of integrity and work ethic.

Why don't they have cameras so you can see your pets like other boarding places? Because they would be caught in their lies of how they treat your animal. You think you're dog is kept in a nice open stall but they are kept in their BASEMENT IN CAGES where workers need masks because of all the feces, urine, and insulation problems. My dogs nose was bleeding and cut trying to push her way out of the cage. They said it was from her pushing a bone under a rug which was a lie. My dog doesn't do that. She was in a metal cage. They lied to protect themselves. Her paws were soaked with her own urine. They try to spray some perfume scent on her to make her smell clean before we picked her up. They never let her out in a play room they show you in the back, They never let you see their basement which is where the animals are kept. But it was on the news from a former employee with pictures of them in their disgusting basement after my dog stayed there and yes, it was their place and verified. I felt I abandoned our beautiful girl dog to be abused. No wonder why she pulled away from them when I picked her up because she was probably glad to escape. I will never use this place again. I would give it ZERO STARS and negative points if i could. Very disappointed they would treat animals in their care this way. No wonder why my animal came out with health problems. I have to stay home with her 24/7 to get rid of her anxiety especially her nightmares when she slept. She had bowl problems when we got her home and we had to adjust her food again even when we gave them her food in individual bags for each day and some health bones which were clearly marked. My children were upset when had her home and they knew something more was wrong. We took her to our vet and he told us the scrapes on her nose were from her pushing the cage door trying to get out. We never caged our dog. can't stress enough about the lies you're told when you bring your pet there. I learned the hard way. Reviews matter. NEVER AGAIN!!!!! Please find another place or a family/friends to help you with your dog. There were animal rights people protesting about this place after my dog stood there. Please don't have your pet stay there and let what happened to my pet happen to yours.

This is the only place we would take our beautiful lab/mastiff rescue (Max) for daycare and boarding. We are here each week because he gets love, activity and the opportunity for great vet care too. Really excellent supervision by Fern and dog oversight by Joseph!

I have never written a negative review before but this vet and specifically the receptionist fully desereves it. I have never in my life experienced such unprofessional behavior coming from the woman on the phone. (receptionist) I moved locations and needed my cat, harry, to have his vaccine records sent to my new vet. I have tried for a whole week and a half, practically begging the receptionist to send over the records and I have only received excuses and rude comments. (She even blamed me twice!!) My current vet tried calling her and she gave them attitude as well. I take my cat's care very seriously and I feel horrified that Harry had to step foot in such an unfriendly and hostile enviorment. If this is the way they run their vet, please never ever send your animal there. I regret sending my cat here and I am making a promise to never send him to a place like this again. Take my experience with this vet and find a better place for your furry friend- please.

I wouldn't recommend bringing your dogs here at all from my experience. I brought my 8 month old Belgian Malinois Kolton to stay there for two nights over a weekend. When we got him back, he had multiple cuts and scrapes that he hadn't had before going there on his paws, legs and nose. There was a small patch of fur missing on his cheek. When he got back home, he was heavily constipated and hungry. His first stools after coming home were bloody. The entire first day back he was extremely lethargic as if he had had some kind of medication or sedation. He also seemed shaken up and a bit scared. They also gave him vaccines and treatments he didn't need without our consent. Prior to going there, he was perfectly toilet trained, but upon coming back he'd had multiple accidents in the home. Overall, it was a poor experience for him and I wouldn't wish it on any other dogs and owners. I will not be bringing him back again, and recommend others not bring their dogs in to them at all.

I highly recommend this veterinarian hospital and boarding service! Dr.Zipkin's care of my sick parakeets was extraordinary! He brought one back from near death 3 times! And diagnosed her as near diabetic! She lived to be 14. In addition, I was very pleased to have a caring place to board my African Grey parrot. She was always comfortable and when we brought her there. She actually looked eager to stay, too. And, she behaved in a happy manner when we picked her up. It is so wonderful to have a place that can care for my pets in so many ways.

This place is a nightmare. Everything they tell you is a lie. They tell one price and then they overcharge you. My dog stayed here for 5 days and when I picked her up no one was there. No one is ever there over night. Staff leaves around 5pm and they cage the animals until the next morning. My dog was atleast 7lbs down when I retrieved her. She look traumatized!!! If you love your furry ones stay away from this place please!!! They should be reported on more than a review! This place needs to be shut down!!!

Our dog Lily has been taken care of by this animal hospital since she came to us at three months old. She is now five years old. They are thorough, kind, and very knowledgeable. They have taken excellent care of her and us.Staff is always willing to spend time to discuss her status with us whenever we come or call. We would highly recommend them to new animal patients.

I haven't actually experienced their service because from the phone call alone it was totally unprofessional. She called me while driving and in the background I could hear someone (a man) cursing and being very unpleasant. I was looking to board two cats for 2 weeks witch would be almost 1400... at that price I would assume it would come with a on site tour and maybe daily photo or video updates of their stay.. even after offering my vaccine card and pcr test she refused to show me the "room" they would be staying in. For two weeks do you really think I'll be paying you that price without visual proof of my babies safety? Never suggesting this place ever.

I recently spent a week away with my family. We hated leaving our beloved English Bulldogs behind. We were put at ease from the moment we met the capable staff here. The rooms were great and everyone is courteous and friendly. We checked in via email and received prompt replies. I would recommend the ā resortā to anyone that loves their pet. Our bulldogs were returned freshly washed, nails clipped, happy and healthy. We will definitely be using this service again for our next trip. Worth every penny!

I called in advance asking if my pet needed any updates with his vaccines and was told āNot until Augustā before I scheduled to board him. The 2 hours after dropping my pet off I get a rude voicemail saying that my pet needed vaccines and how I would feel if someone elseās dog gave my pet a disease. I called back trying to explain that I was told he was already updated but I was cut off multiple times and was told that they already gave him the vaccines. Which is fine, but the way I was spoken to was extremely unprofessional. In addition, my vacation was cut short and I was able to pick up my pet a day early, I called asking if I could pick him up and was told āit was too late to pick him upā and āhe just leftā. Mind you I told the female worker who picked up the phone that I was already in the car and I would like to pick him up today. She told me she would call me back and thank goodness I already started driving there because it was already 30 minutes until closing and I haven't received a call back from anyone. Overall, my experience with this place was extremely disappointing compared to the last time I boarded my pet and I dont know if I would want to bring my pet here again.

My cat had to have emergency care due to eating a bandana. I brought him in and the care was extraordinary. All staff and especially vet were caring and easy to talk to. I recommend to anyone wanting superior care for their pets!

As someone who has worked at this facility in the past under the vet (Martin Zipkin) and his wife. I do not recommend this facility at all for both(1) boarding - pets are not given the amount of attention Owners are assured they would be given, they barely get taken out to use the bathroom. There is no one there at night - they lie to you. The place is often severely understaffed, and the poor few work there never have enough time to give all animals ample attention/care/a clean environment as well as do daily appointments. They treat staff horribly,( the vet has anger issues and screams at workers,) underpay, overwork, and overbook to make as much money as possible. They do not care about workers.(2) Medical treatment - They keep changing the schedule on clients whenever they want as the vet decides when he feels like coming in. So good luck getting time that works for you for an appt. There is no nurse there at nights, so when they "hospitalize pets", they stick them in a cage on their own - they lie to clients and say someone will be there - it IS AWFUL. They over-price most products/medicine and never go over a clear treatment plan before starting treatment.Mrs. zipkin as the receptionist is awfully slow and disorganized - even if the staff is moving fast, clients have to wait so long for her to finish doing a simple invoice. She is clueless when it comes anything technological and fumbles on the computer, clacking key by single key to type anything. All of the Dr's notes are handwritten and illegible so good luck getting records (which are often lost because the paper filing system is garbage)Honestly it is time they retired, it seems as if they hate the job. I'm sure the vet cared at some point, and he has real medical knowledge. He just phoned it in at some point. Trust me, just please take your pet anywhere else.- Anon

This is quite possibly one of the most unprofessional businesses I have ever dealt with. My dog stayed with them for 2 days. I picked her up and she was covered in urine stains. When asked why she wasnt bathed prior to pick up, which is a service I paid for, they responded by saying they bathed her yesterday "because they knew they were going to be busy today". When I called the office they brushed me off by saying that my dog is "very excitable". My dog smelled horrible and covered in urine stains. This was not acceptable. When returning home she was urinating in the house which leads me to believe they didn't even walk my dog after they had promised to walk her 3-4 times a day during her stay. After multiple unreturned calls to this business I had to resolve the issue w/MasterCard. This place is horrible!!

The workers there are clueless careless & straight up rude, especially the owner. I work for a pet grooming place which requires specific vaccines in order to be groomed. We always call the vets to get the expiration of vaccines if the pet parent doesnāt have the paper work with them. In this case the pet parent did but the vaccine I needed wasnāt listed. I called them on Sunday morning 4-28-19 & the young lady that picked up didnāt seem to know what she was doing I asked for the expiration of the rabies vaccine for a client that went there & she questioned what that was. After explaining it to her, she then told me sheās not allowed to give me any information. I told her I was with the owner of the pet & if needed be she could talk to her & approve that they could give me the expiration. She then gathered all the information & found the pets records, put me on hold for 15 minutes and then the āownerā of the vet answered the phone screaming that the pet has never been there and she refused to give me any information after they just told me they found the pets records. I told her that was impossible because I had the paper copy with all the other vaccines the dog was given, the vet who took care of him as well as the vets phone fax & address. The owner of the vet proceeded screaming & eventually hung up on me when questioning why they were lying when the other worker I spoke with just told me had his records with all the information. They completely wasted my time as well as my client. I canāt even imagine what else they lie about. I highly recommend to never use this vet/boarding they are liars and not be trusted with your pets!!

A few months ago I wrote a negative review about this place. I spoke to the owners today who were very pleasant and understanding. I had an issue where they couldnāt give my dog his vaccines because he was hacking too much but they still charged me. I was told I can come back to get his vaccines when he was no longer hacking. The owners were actually away on vacation and it was the front desk girl that did not know what she was doing. They took very good care of my dog today and apologized for their workers incompetence, who by the way no longer works there. They gave my dog his vaccines and even gave him medicine he needed at no charge. The vet was very knowledgeable and patient with my dog who is 16 years old. I felt very comfortable with the end result and I plan to bring my dog back in August for boarding.

I can't speak of the Veterinary care at this location but the boarding prices are deceptive and you will not leave there feeling like your pet received the care he/she should have.I picked up my dog at noon today and was told that "he had a great time" and "we just walked him" only to be surprised by him immediately peeing in front of me as if he hadn't peed in days. I mean once inside, once outside and once when we got home. Not marking but full on peeing.I was also told that they didn't feed him in the morning because he might throw up on the drive home?? And if I wanted him to eat prior to picking him up I should have told the receptionist who is about as friendly and welcoming as a bartender at a dive bar.I was also charged $100 for flu vaccines even though he received a parainfluenza vaccine and a clean bill of health for boarding prior to boarding him hear from my vet with full documentation. When I questioned her about the two charges for vaccines at $45/each she first told me it was one vaccine and the other "should have said a fecal exam which came back fine" When I told her that was done at my vet visit and was on my Vet documents she put me on hold and told me it was two different flu vaccines he received, not the fecal. So why would she say it came back fine? Nice profit center. And last I was told that I can pick him up before 1pm on Sunday or on Monday for no additional charge. "Besides we wash all the dogs on Monday so if he stays he will get a bath." I thought great they'll bath him if he stays till Monday. Well they did and charged me $60.00 for it.I blame myself because I shouldn't have waited until the last minute before my trip to choose this place but after 25 years of owning and boarding dogs I have never seen this amount of gouging before and I thought you should know.

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE.I brought my two dogs for the weekend. One came back nervous and confused and her fur was matted and scratched. The other came back dazed and with a patch of raw skin on his leg. He was sickly and drank a lot of water and vomited. He could barely walk. Nothing was done about it and we need to take him to the vet. I wish I read the reviews before going because this is a horrible place to leave your dogs.

This place is horrible, I left my dog there for 5 days and I paid for boarding and for all the vaccinations my dog was missing( which came to almost 400 dollars) When I get back from vacation they tell me they couldnāt vaccinate my dog because he was hacking too much, but yet they still charged me for the vaccines they never gave my dog. When I said I wouldnāt pay for the vaccines that were never given they refused to give me my dog so I had to pay the full amount. I called them everyday to check on my dog and not once did they tell me they couldnāt give him the vaccines. They claimed to be charging that extra 200 as a vet visit in place of the vaccines.Fast forward a month later, I take my dog to get groomed and they tell me he has flees. My dog is never around other animals, doesnāt go outside, and we have no carpets so the last place he was was at this boarding place. I have never written a review but I really hope no one else takes their pet to this horrific and dirty place.

I was actually offered a job here and declined being that the owners wife wanted me to work a few hours for FREE to see how I work and if I was good. Don't waste my time nothing in this world is free and I am NOT working for anyone for free! Then she wanted me to accept a low pay of 11 an hour when I have years of experience in the animal/vet feild AND I'm in school for veterinarian! When I brought to her attention minimum wage is 15 an hour she told me that wasn't true! Really??!! My resume AND references should prove that I am MORE than qualified for the position! I've done kennel doctor assisting along with grooming! All there grooming equipment is broken by the way the girl who was suppose to "train me" even though I didn't need training actually told me to run because they are cheap and don't care about there staff. Till this day every week they have a new add up that they're hiring gee I wonder why it's a revolving door there! The "exam room" are so tiny and the stairs leading to the basement are a death trap! I don't recommend this place at all not to work not to take your animals too or leave them

As a former employee I would never ever take my dogs there the place always stank because they never want to upgrade or higher proper help your dog stays in cages nothing like what was promised on the advertisement they're not properly being taken care of and they overcharge and scam people out of money for services they did not even complete the receptionist is a shyster who cares only about money the doctor is the biggest shyster of them all best part about the job with the clients and their animals

I keep my dog at Hewlett Animal Hospital for Cageless boarding and would never keep my dog anywhere else. Where most pet hotels allow your dog to run in a large room for 8 hours per day and then cage the dog at night, Hewlett Animal Hospital is completely Cageless. They provide a tailored experience for each animal. I know my dog, a smooshed face French bulldog cannot run around for 8 hours due to risk of exhaustion. Also, at the end of the doggy day, my dog will get an enclosed space which looks like a room with a couch and blanket, toys and lots of attention. So if you are the dog owner who wants his dog to be cared for based on its particular needs and breed type (rather than a one size fits all), then Hewlett Animal Hospital is the place for you. Plus, my dog is not a caged dog, we don't cage him at our house. To all of a sudden cage a dog whose not used to it would cause my dog stress. I wouldn't keep my dog anywhere else. They are the best.

Dr Zipkin & his wife recently replaced all of the staff. Some members of the new Animal Hospital staff aren't honest employees! One of the Groomers recently left her equipment in the grooming table inside of the "playroom". Upon her but return from bathing a dog, the clipper blade had been removed from her personal equipment clipper! The blade had been used all morning. Each blade had been counted. Every clipper blade had a "cubby hole " inside of a special clipper blade carrying case. It's truly amazing that the blade wasn't found! All of the equipment was searched & several backup emergency blades weren't found either! If it happened once, it will happen again! Are all of the " controlled substances" safe? What else is missing?

This place is a joke! I had all 3 of my dogs going there until they started to say there was stuff wrong with my dog that wasnt just to get more money for medicated food. We decided after going there and seeing the poor condition the dogs were kept in to go to the vet down the block. 4 months later and "transfering fees" to send their medical records to the new vet and they still have yet to send them. They keep giving excuses and postponing sending the records bc they dont want to lose buisness. My one dog had an obstruction and I'm hysterically crying at the vet waiting for another xray and hewlett animal hospital is refusing to send the records. My apt was for 2 and it is now 3PM. NEVER GO TO THIS VET EVER IF YOU WANT FAIR TREATMENT!!!!!!!! I WILL SCREAM THIS FROM THE MOUNTAIN TOPS THEY DONT HELP YOU OR YOUR PET THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Part 1/2If I can leave a zero star review I would. I work in the area of hewlett so I believe In Giving business to fellow neighboring businesses. My experience started in feb 2016 when I enthusiastically started my research for a dog hotel for Lucy. Lucy is a 38 pound lab mix. We were quoted $40 a day. That was pricey but acceptable considering their debunked sales pitch of 3 walks a day and 100% cageless boarding. Their pressure to put a deposit of $40 to secure out spot for our dates of vacation was logical so we called with a credit card and secured the dates. We always are very respectful of policies and like to cooperate so we asked what were the refund policies. We were assured that we would not lose the $40 in the even that we would not travel. Later in my story you will see how their "organized mess" is designed to overcharge and steal depoists while overcharging for false services.Three days before our flight to Mexico in 2016 for our Passover vacation we found out we were pregnant. We were not worried about our $40 deposit because we were assured by Fern that we would not lose the money and we can use it towards the next boarding plan. We were ok with that because they a) we were more concerned about travel plans that had to be cancelled and unexpected pregnancy dealing with doctor visits and a sharp 180° switch in future plans. After all- at this point our stake was $40 and a great stag that was smiling and selling something we really needed.Fast-forward 12 months later to today. We came to pick up Lucy after we dropped her off last week. We cooperated with all their rules. We got the name of the shot that she was supposed to get so that she won't give anyone the flu. We asked our vet at north shore animal league if they offer it. Indeed there is such a thing as a flu shot and they offered it to us for $10 cheaper then at Hewlett-Animal hospital. However, if you remember from the beginning of my story, I believe in supporting local businesses so we decided to give them the overcharged $45 they asked for the flu shot. The person that admitted Lucy into the boarding was wearing scrubs and a stethoscope. More of a salesman than a doctor. We have experience with scrubs people wearing a stethoscope around there neck. Never in my life have I felt so degraded as if the man in front of me was wearing a costume to blend into a sort of medical title of some sort. The reason I say this is because Lucy went for a checkup several weeks before we sent her out to this place and we got all check marks. Healthy as a well kept dog should be. We take pride in the rescue dog we adopted and the life we saved. Still not a reason to take advantage of us. He was selling us dental work for the dog. Scaring us that if we don't take care of her teeth soon it could get even more pricey. When I asked him how much he felt the hook catching on my upper lip and his immediate con-artist response was "well just the anesthesia could be several hundred". He continued to tell me that we should just be in touch after her boarding and schedule a regular vet-session. THAT SEEMED ODD BECUASE WE WERE STANDING RIGHT THERE IN A VET-session FORUM. WHY SHOULD I BOOK A SEPARATE APPINTMENT JUST ASKING WHAT THEBPRICE WIULD BE. I didn't feel completely uncomfortable at that point but I won't say that it did not put me on alert for a scheme concept here. We continued with the check-in progress. . .Remember last year my 38 pound lab mix was quoted at $40 per night ? Well prices didn't go up but if you cheat the scale and try to pull a fast one on a customer that doesn't know how much their k9 weighs then you can log them in at 52 pounds. Yes reader, yes, they wrote the wrong weight of the dog so that we can be in a different tier for being charged more. Well I can tell you that I know how much I weigh and my wife and my children too becuase I am involved in my pediatrician checkups, our obgyn check-ups and yes my veterinary visits too.

My 16 year old cat would not be alive today if it were not for Dr. Zipkin. A number of years ago my cat had a bowel blockage and the vet was able to save his life. Within the current year the vet diagnosed a thyroid issue and saved his life again. My cat is on three medications and a special diet. I did not think twice as to where to board my cat when we had to go away for Labor Day weekend. I knew he would get the attention he needed when in Hewlett Animal Hospitalās care.
