Greg, at the register was able to help me out today, excellent customer service skills. Made me feel like I was 'family'. Nice and clean layout of merchandise on the shelves as well as displayed on the floor.Joe

My family and I visited this location today and the manager was outstanding from the moment we stepped through the doors. We ran into her in the small pet room and she engaged with my children telling them information about the animals and even her own. I’d give her 10 stars if I could…. Keep up the great work Katie😉😊

Bought some bags of damaged bird seed and horse pellet bedding both bags were at half and about 3/4 full size. I grabbed them thinking I’d get a nice discount for them but the manager demanded only $1 off without even looking at the bags. I’ve gotten a damaged back of horse pellets before for about half off before. Wack call by manager. Boo.

Such a rude, wild and racist manager in this store! Today you lost your regular propane customer. The manager doesn’t know how to behave with customers. My car was parked next to the propane station where usually propane customers park there.I was inside the store with the cashier and was paying for propane, while the store manager came in and a very rudely worded voice told me “ I AM THE STORE MANAGER you can’t pay and your propane tank wouldn’t be loaded in till you don’t move your car first, because your car is blocking my car. I asked her can I pay first? She said NO! I didn’t pay I thought she maybe right! When I see there was big space, I said you have big space to go around my car why you want me to move she said, I DON’T KNOW WHERE YOU GUYS COME FROM” I felt racism. I won’t shop there until that manager is there. All other staff are so great and friendly.

Horrible service, took nearly an hour to check us out because they couldn’t figure out the register, had to call a manager to come to the store to get it working and I had to wait there juggling my two kid while my husband tried to explain how to get the system working/ trying to fix the issue cause we just wanted to go and get our kids to bed. Would have left if it wasn’t for the fact they charged our card then insisted they didnt. Had to show them proof that our card was used. Whole time they were not apologetic, not kind just kind of sassy.

I visited the store at 4pm on 7/1/21. The ferret was being kept in horrendous conditions. I've honestly never seen it so bad at any pet store before... The ferret had nothing to lay on aside from excrement that was piled high in all areas of the cage, and pee soaked pads. The hanging bedding that is not even usable for the ferret had been chewed likely due to lack of enrichment. These conditions are deplorable and I feel awful for this poor ferret. The feces looked old, and the entire area reeked. I own many ferrets myself and this is just sad. Do better Countrymax.

I ordered from their amazon store. They didn't ship the product to meet the delivery window. When I tried to cancel they created a tracking number to act like they would ship it in order to stop my cancellation. When I, a week later, reached out to Amazon about it, as they had not shipped it or cancelled it, they came back the day before I could again request a refund saying something happened at usps and that they had gotten it resolved. You can see the tracking information from usps. None of that was true.Instead of owning up to their failure they decided to stall and gaslight. Terrible company. I do not recommend doing business with them as they obviously do not respect you as a person.

I absolutely love this store. It offers so much. But, I’m devastated at how it’s treating its animals....or rather, not treating them. They are clearly sick and being neglected. I spoke with one individual (who I will not name) who stated that they haven’t been given clearance to medicate. If this were a puppy or any animal other than a reptile, I doubt they would be suffering to this extent. So horrific that they are not getting the treatment they desperately need.Judging by the other reviewers comments about non-mammals, this unfortunately seems to be a trend for this store.

I'm sure you can find what you're looking for there, but I had never been to a countrymax and was very disappointed by the state of the fish room. Sick and stressed fish.

Country Max is such a fun and unique store. Not only does it have amazing gardening supplies and beautiful plants, but they have a retro candy and gift area, as well as snacks, drinks, clothing, footwear, and items for your pets, and unique outdoor decor. I also love checking out their live animals at the back of the store. They have all types of birds, and small lizards, and other animals. They also sell live foo for your pets and set ups and food for any new pet you take home. You really need to check out Country Max. It will be one of your new favorite stores I promise you.

I've had the most success with the plants I've purchased here. They also have a huge variety of food and accessories for just about any pet as well as adoptions. My biggest complaint are the doors. Trying to get a giant cart through a manual door is annoying. Luckily other people often offer to help hold the door.

Dog wash. Stay away. Taps very difficult to get a good temp. Soap ran out, and uses cold water to dispense. Air dryer blows cold, sorta... hose is full of holes. Only reason for 2 stars is staff treated dog well with treats but definitely will be going to TSC from now on. Well stocked and everything works!!

Very helpful staff!! I come here for all of my small animal supplies. Animals (especially small mammals) are very well taken care of and the selection is great. Always clean and organized with reasonable prices. Big box stores are a little cheaper but I prefer to shop more locally.

CountryMax has great prices and a lot of useful stuff however this location is popular and lacks inventory. The Fairport store was packed and organized when I was there. Look at the website for availability before heading out. This is not always 100% as something showed in stock and when I went to the store it was out. If this gets to the owners please try to update the Henrietta store. Specifically the garden tool section please.

I went in for super worms at the Henrietta store on August 4 at around 2:30 for my beardy. And there was a associate that was very helpful and informative about the reptiles and fish, I didn’t catch his name. But he was awesome !! Kudos to him for being so informative!!!

I have shopped at the old and new locations many times and I find their prices for the products that I buy to be excellent. I can usually find most of the items that I am looking for and I find the new store to be well organized and well stocked. As for the knowledge of the staff it is no different than Petsmart or any other retail store. The older full time staff are knowledgeable on most all products, however, the younger part time staff have limited knowledge about products or their uses; I think this is to be expected. Common sense should tell most consumers that the veteran staff is going to be much more helpful when it comes to experienced knowledge. I find this a delightful place to shop and have found some truly unique items.

Fine selection with fantastic prices. Their products are all top of the line. Country Max is the only place I can get my Black Gold potting soil in the area, and their high end dog foods are comparable in price to any other retailer. Friendly staff, but often short staffed. By far my favorite location.

Love that they have a dog wash. Wish there was something like this in Dansville. I make the drive on Friday just so I can bathe my dog. I have called in advance and paid. Today the manager was not nice about any of this even knowing that I had already paid. I heard her state "we close the dog wash at 7 and I don't care where she is in the process we're kicking her out". SO NOT IMPRESSED!!

I recently shopped her with my daughter and grandson. We really enjoyed the store and the environment until we used the bathroom! It was very dirty and no soap. But, the worse part was the fact that there isn’t a diaper changing station! Families are encouraged to shop here so this should not even be an issue. Pretty gross!

How have I never heard of this place before? It's a small chain with great prices and a lot of selection. One thing that really stood out to me aside from the prices and selection is the animals for sale. They all look like they're very well taken care of. That's pretty impressive. It's not that big chains like PetSmart or Petco don't take care of their pets, but it's something that I definitely noticed here. All in all, it has a pretty big selection and the prices are all pretty great. I highly recommend this cool little gem.

I went to Countrymax to look at Rats to adopt for my daughter. I found some that were inquisitive and cute. Now I know that everywhere businesses are struggling with finding employees to work and I know Countrymax is one of them. The reason for this review is the poor decision to have the employee that was there that Sunday to be anywhere near animals or people. His lack of empathy or customer service was atrocious. There are certain people that have different kinds of skills and putting this particular employee where he is “caring” for animals and also has to communicate with customers was the wrong decision. This has nothing to do with the store itself just poor decision making.

Their prices may be great, but I bet its because theyre not paying vet bills on animals that get sick like most pet stores. Their live animals are poorly treated with no medical care when needed and the reptiles are generally in poor health. They've been struggling with a case of snake mites for the past 7mos. If you're going to get anything alive, look closely before you buy. The lizards may have mouth rot, and the mice may be wheezing due to their sub-par pine chip bedding or otherwise sick. And whatever you do, don't ask for a manager. She's not interested in the well-being of the animal, only making money for the store. Shes got the personality of a used car salesman, and the "but wait, what if I give you 25% off?" lines to match. She will confidently give your wrong/misleading info just to make a sale.

THE THEATRICAL RELEASE...I really enjoy CountryMax especially since they have moved into their new store on W Henrietta Rd. The store is always clean and the staff are always friendly and there to assist without being bothersome. They have the best prices in town when it comes to our pet needs. They have a great variety of items for dogs, cats, small animals, horses, etc. They have a nice variety of live furry animals, reptiles, birds and fish as well. Check out CountryMax before you head to one of the other pet supply stores in town, I would bet CountryMax has what your looking for at a lower price.THE DIRECTOR'S CUT...Their new store on W Henrietta Rd is really beautiful. They have a very nice selection of pretty much everything animal, plant and beer making supplies. From habitats to bird cages, fish tanks, dog and cat food, toys and so much more. Their prices are probably the best in town for your pet needs. We mainly use them for our dog treats and toys as well as their self service dog wash. If you bring your own towels it will only cost you $10.80 including tax. You get up to 25 minutes in the dog wash, but we have gone over a little bit and they didn't charge us, it was like seven minutes. They have two stations in a closed off private room. They provide nice high bathing stations with shampoo, brushes, combs, blow dryer and of course vinyl aprons so you don't get soaked when you fur kid wants to shake out their coat. If you don't bring your own towels you can buy an artificial chamois for an additional $2.16 including tax. I would recommend you bring your own towels. The store is always neat and clean. The shelves are stocked well and tidy. If you don't see an item on the shelf you can ask a staff member and sometimes it may be in the back not pulled out of a new shipment yet. The staff are always friendly and helpful, they don't hover over you like other stores do at times. They will ask if you need any assistance and then let you shop if you don't or will be glad to help if you do.Their dog and cat food variety is quite large, both wet and dry. They carry several organic and holistic brands such as Wellness, EVO, Fromm, Taste of the Wild, Core and more. They also carry Fresh Pet as well. They have a wide variety of dog and cat toys, leashes, harnesses, leads, chew toys, raw hide, etc.CountryMax also has your beer making needs covered as well. I am not greatly familiar with the lingo so bare with me. They carry a variety of yeasts, kettles, bottles, caps, cappers, hydrometer and other supplies. They are not limited to just small animals, dogs cats and such. They also have items for horses, chickens, birds, fencing, plants, shrubs, and so much more.Overall, I would recommend before you head to those other local pet stores check out CountryMax on W Henrietta Rd. It may save you some money and who doesn't like that? Even if you just want to window shop go and check them out. They are also a very pet friendly store. So bring your furry, scaly, feathered or I have even see a turtle walking with their humans.Thank you for reading my review. Adorable atmosphere with everything to meet your pet or other animal's requirements plus a wide selection of seed and accessories for the wild bird watcher. They also carry plants, shrubs, and small trees along with anything needed for landscaping your gardens and yard. Enjoyable place to shop!

I bought 3 mice at this CountryMax about 2 weeks ago. The people in the pet department were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable...but they still get one star. Because they are too cheap to use healthy bedding for their small animals, such as CareFresh, they use wood shavings such as pine and cedar to save a few bucks. These are TOXIC to small animals, and cause illnesses such as Upper Respiratory Infections. 2 of my mice have an upper respiratory infection due to this, and they are getting progressively worse. I have spent upwards of $130 on vet visits and medications, all because this CountryMax wanted to save $2 on bedding. This is absolutely ridiculous. The workers seemed like they cared a lot about animals, but they are setting them up to die. I even called, and they refuse to help pay for what they have caused, which I do understand, but they refuse to even change the bedding. I have never yelled at workers in a store, but I am going to go to this location and show them what they have done to my mice, and I hope that seeing these poor animals and hearing their very labored breathing will convince them to become more humane. This will probably not happen, because of course saving a few dollars is more important than the lives of their animals...I am absolutely disgusted.

Countrymax has made huge strides in this field, each new store built nicer then the one before it. The fact they have kept the original farmstead barn up on the property AND semi restored it speaks volumes of their integrity and respect for the area they develop. The nursery was very high end, with healthy plants, wide variety and very interactive customer service. Highly recommended for your pet food and lawn and garden needs!

I special ordered a boa from Country Max 3 weeks ago, and just discovered that the animal has blood mites. I sterilize everything before I put it into the enclosure, and I know the snake had to have come with it. It's a common parasite, but when I called to inform the store to check their supplier-who very well may be sending more snakes in with mites, I was told that they havent had an issue with any other animals, therefore they weren't going to do anything about it. Unless they are thoroughly checking over every single animal that comes in, they would have no idea. These bugs are almost microscopic. Their pet health guarantee of 3 days is an absolute joke. I am out another $50 for mite treatment, plus the cost of the substrate that I had to throw away.
