This place was absolutely horrific. First of all we made an appointment and were told it did not matter which dog we put down but would have the opportunity to meet many dogs. The people were rude and slammed the door on us. They then brought us to the puppies where they left us alone in a room with 7 puppies. We knew nothing about the puppies, if they bit, had shots etc. The puppies were laying in their own urine and were poorly kept. My heart broke for these poor pups.

I highly recommend petRescue as an outstanding animal shelter in our area! I have had personal experience with their staff and wonderful volunteers who are dedicated to finding loving homes for the puppies and dogs who come to them!

This is a tricky one because there is really nothing you wouldn't do for the pet of your dreams... But, you need to fill out an application before you deal with them, period, or it is unlikely you will get any attention. You also need to make an appointment, because if you show up at the the "Meet and Greet" 1) the staff is not welcoming and 2) the dog you want to see is probably not there, even if advertised as such. So after our application was approved, we made an appointment, took our whole family (as required) and stayed 1.5 hours. At the end they said: "We've been doing this for a long time and this isn't going to work. I'm sorry." We were told multiple times that the dog we were interested in was “in high demand.” While you think you may be a "caring responsible home" for rescuing a pet, you may be, in fact, judged and end up with your time wasted (and have to explain that to your family). There seems to be a very odd mix of being arbitrarily selective, but hustling the process and payment. There may be promising of pets on the side. I'd proceed with caution and all of this in mind.

PetRescue in Harrison, NY is the place you need to visit if you are looking to adopt or, if need be, to surrender you pet.I fostered a sweet and very active pup. This organization made sure to secure him in a good home and, if necessary, to welcome him back in the future. They are friendly, clean, and dedicated to the pets. Your heart will be at ease once you meet the staff here.

Our family just adopted a dog (Elliot) from NY Pet Rescue. Everyone there was friendly and extremely helpful and they helped to make the adoption process extremely easy! On top of that they are so knowledgeable and we got great advice from them. They are so passionate, they really love what they do AND we truly got a great great dog!! If you want to adopt a new pal, check these folks out, you will be glad you did!! Thanks so much to everyone at NY Pet Rescue!!
