I’ve adopted three cats here over the years. The shelter is very nice and the potential adoptees have the ability to move around the shelter. They all have had a nice temperament, and became loved family members very quick!The staff has always been very friendly, and kind.

We adopted a kitten from here. Even though it's a small 6 was clean, well kept, and animals seem well cared for. The kitten is healthy and active. Since it's a small shelter, they don't have a big shop , so if you're going to pick up an animal, remember to bring a carrier or leash.

Me and my family tried adopting a kitten the girl we contacted about told us everything, we filled out a form etc. Then she says that the review is good at that on a set day we can come and see the next day without a notice we sent a message and they never responded turns out when I go back on the website the kitten has already been adopted and they didn’t even tell me

They took great care of my dog Cali. Their prices for Spay and Neuteuring cannot be beat. Their facility is clean and their staff was wonderful! $200 Spay for dogs under 20lbs. Wouldn't go anywhere else!

It is easy to like the Southampton Animal Shelter. I am fond of the staff, veterinarian and trainers because we have a common purpose; loving all of our homeless canine friends. I love this Shelter and the employees because this is where I fiund Anbassador Beowolfe in 2006, a super intelligent labrador-great Dane-border collie mixed; who gave me 10 years of loyalty, love and a new purpose in life. Beowolfe trained me, a lost human being, to become an excellent Professional Dog Trainer in the areas of; obedience, rally, agility, scent work, tracking, therapy, service animal, cadaver, freestyle canine dance, conformation, canine film performance, search and rescue. Beowolfe lived the life of a True American Canine. He saved the lives of nine people, White & Black, male & female, a lesson us humans should learn, that race and gender are not relevant. Ambassador Beowolfe alerted me to the danger 2 little 8 year old girls faced after being kidnapped by a male coward. He scented their feat and distress while riding in my truck at 40 miles per hour with the windows up and the heater blowing. If not for Beowolfe, those 8 year old girls might never have reached their 14th birthday and teenage years. He also took on 2 pit bulls, chasing them off and saving 2 White teenage boys from being attacked. Beowolfe saved my life from a state of severe depression and restored my vigor for life, social engagement and purpose, saving homeless dogs and matchingbthrm with disabled people and autistic children: restoring the lives of both the hopeless canines and disabled or depressed human beings.I love the Southampton Animal Shekter and its Staff because, as recent as 2019, their beautiful and Canine caring Veterinarian, convinced me to adopt my 2nd dog from them. My sister calls him Turbo; I hate that name, but, he is incredibly, fast, so the name just stuck. He is a 65 pound Anerican Bulldog - Pit Bull mixed, but, seems more like a cuddly teddy bear; that's why I posted the pic of him on the sofa, resting his head on a pillow. My sister doesn't allow my Bernese Mountain Dog or her own Shepherd Cow on her furniture or bed. I tell her, Turbo is really her dog because he is crazy about her, follows her every step, but, she allows Turbo sofa and bed privileges. The Veterinarian at Southampton Animal Shelter was right, when she said this was a very intelligent dog and had great potential as a scent dog. One day my sister opened her trunk and Turbo, in one quick leap, straight up into the air, jumped in the trunk and started searching it. Neither of us, smoke weed or do drugs, but, Turbo smelled something that triggered his scent ability. Now, when we open the trunk, he is the first to investigate the contents. Thank you Doctor and Trainet, I believe we have a Scent & Tracking Competition Champion, Agility Champion, excellent Cadaver Dog, and, Search & Rescue Dog who will be able to save and rescue lost, missing people and find deceased and near deceased people in natural disastrous conditions, with a bit of focused training from me, during the next 3 months! Wow, what great fate; to find to great dogs from the same shelter 12 years apart. Please follow Turbo's Posts and news articles on the Southampton Animal Shelter Site and Newspaper! I'm expected great things from Turbo and a lot of lives being saved or restored. No dog, will ever replace or surpass Ambassador Beowolfe, but, Ambassador Turbo, well, he will blaze his own trail of success and heroic deeds. I hope you enjoy his pic. Pleasant and friendly animal shelter. You can see they truly have the best interest for these animals at heart. We were looking for another dog to adopt and add to our family. A few months ago we adopted Gotti and he is now living his best life. He’s a spoiled, loyal, and an affectionate boy. I’m thankful to have found this shelter and recommend them 100%. Adoption is the way to go!

My daughter saw the yellow lab puppy Dex on the website. I went to see the dog on Friday and walked him. I was told that I had first choice in adopting the dog. The recommended that the whole family visit to make sure everyone was "On Board" I told them everyone was working on Friday and asked if we could come on Saturday and they gave me a time 1 pm. I had called twice and left a message about changing the day to Sunday because that was the only day my daughter had off. They finally called back at 11:30 am today and told me Dex had been adopted. They said they gave him away to somewhere else because I have a cat which they knew of before and had given me first dibs on adopting Dex. I guess they are selective in their adoption choices.

Went there to donate some weewee pads and was greeted with such gratitude and kindness. We were invited to meet the bunnies and there was several employees/volunteers around cleaning, socializing animals and just so friendly and welcoming. The environment was clean, quiet and very comfortable. I had the opportunity to meet one of the "residents" there too who was beautiful, sweet and just such a love. Her handler was knowledgeable and very affectionate and sweet with her. Not too many shelters are filled with people who genuinely care the way the crew at SHAS seems too. Very well done and I highly recommend anyone looking to adopt a pet visit there. If you aren't looking to adopt, please consider making a small donation to keep this wonderful shelter going and caring for their residents the way they do. God bless you all ❤️

I love this shelter, my family has adopted 3 cats from here over the years. The animals are well cared for and the people working the shelter are so nice and helpful. They gave us some of greatest friends and we will always be grateful to them.

I had a great experience with the Team at Southampton Animal Shelter. The girls were kind, friendly, asked lots of questions and answered lots of questions. I adopted two black kittens on Sunday. I took the one who approached me first and she came with a brother. The animal shelter is clean and I can tell well ran. You can see they love their fur babies and want to find them great homes. When I visited I saw a few dogs out being walked on a nice beautiful day. The young people walking them waved as I entered the park grounds, just so friendly and welcoming. My babies are doing great and adjusting well, so happy to have them. Go Help these guys out and adopt! :)

Staff is rude and not helpful. Tried to follow up on an application, which they never even processed or bothered to look at. I am 100% supportive of what shelters do, but this one is completely selective on who they choose to follow through with. I met all their requirements, they never even bothered to follow up with me and when I came in to visit in person they said they did when I never got a call or email… complete waste of time, I’m sure there are better shelters out there with more professional staff..

I am very grateful of the care the SH animal shelter gave my dog while he was with them. I took him there a few weeks ago to get neutered. I dropped him off in the morning and picked him up in the early afternoon. They also gave me pain medicine for him. With in 2 days he was trying to get back to his usual playful self (even with me trying to keep him calm). The whole procedure and medications were all about $210. While my local vet quoted me to budget $600-$750. Thanks SH Animal Shelter for being so caring. I totally recommend going there for affordable and great quality care for your spay/neuter needs. 💙🐶

I always said wonderful things to say about them but it has gone downhill fast. Staff loses records; mixes up dates; my little babies went in for a dental cleaning and the paperwork that came back is completely wrong. They said they took out 5 teeth and both uppers and lowers were taken out without mentioning it. God knows how many teeth they pulled because whoever was working with my dogs didnt reflect the paperwork I went home with. They lost my dogs records; messed up surgery dates I deeply regret I didn't pick up on the red flags. My little dogs were butchered. Rotating staff; bad record keeping. It's heartbreaking to come home with paperwork that is inaccurate of what they did. I will never use them again. I would have preferred to spend any amount of money to not be in the situation I'm in now.

didn’t let me adopt a kitten because they told me my cat that i have now is an outdoor cat and they don’t want their kittens outdoor but my whole plan was to keep the kitten as an indoor cat, the girl that was at the front desk didn’t tell us nothing about that and had us fill out the application ,just to get disappointed

This use to be a great animal shelter and the adoption process was fairly simple. They will only show you dogs/cats by appointment and they won't let you see whatever animal you want. They use to let you walk through the dog kennel to look at all of the dogs but now they won't. Some of the staff were kinda nasty when you would questions . I don't to discourage people from adopting pets because we love ani.als...we were really disappointed.

The staff at the medical/ grooming center is great. However the women at the front desk had attitudes, zero personality, and made me feel like I was bothering them. I understand they want the best interest for the animals but they were unbelievably rude. This is an adoption center, not the DMV.

We have adopted two wonderful dogs from this shelter, and fostered five others. The animals are treated well: they are socialized, walked, given veterinary care, and they receive plenty of attention from the staff. They have provided lots of hapoy-ever-afters to the animals in their care. Also to note is the neuter-and-release program for stray cats. The cats are allowed a normal wild life but cannot perpetuate their negative effect on biodiversity.

We adopted 2 cats this year. A 10 month old in April using their curbside adoption program then a 7 month old about a week ago who won us over when we went to visit during an appointment we made to see the cats. Jill and the shelter are a pleasure to work with. They made the experience a special one for our family even with COVID restrictions in place. We had a delay in picking up our 2nd cat due to us moving, but Jill assured us she would let us know if anyone else tried to adopt our kitty. This shelter is clean and professional and they do great work for all of their animals. Their volunteers always seem to be working hard and are extremely courteous. The animals all seem so happy and well taken care of. We’re probably done adopting for a while but if we change our minds I wouldn’t think of going anywhere else!

Great overall experience. Adopted my chi mix from them. During the Rona so extra steps had to get taken. They did a great job and my pup was well taken care of. Next time I adopt it will be through them. Good job SAS

What a great shelter, all shelters should be as well staffed as this. The caring for all animals is amazing! Dr. Meekins is the best vet I have met, they really want the best home for all their animals. Thanks for all you do to help our animals. It gives me faith in humanity the kindness you all show.

I absolutly love Southamption Animal shelter!! My 6yr. Old granddaughter looks forward to visiting the cats and we frequently go to visit and hopefully, help socialize the cats. The facility is very clean and the animals are well looked after and loved. I am very impressed with the facility, and am grateful they are here!!

So, we fill out the application to adopt a kitten and my daughter and I are excited to finally get an appointment to see them. I call the next day and the secretary tells me that we are unapproved. She had called my veterinarian and told me that because I have an un neutered animal I can not adopt one of their kittens...can you explain? They just said it's their policy...🤔 my daughter devastated ...I just said we will go somewhere else. The staff there is short, cold, aggressive, and non productive and judgmental... this is my opinion based on my experience

They have the kindest most loving staff who care deeply for each and every animal that comes through their doors. The catios are a jungle gym for the kitties and the fact that every dog gets to go to playgroup daily is magical! I took my rescue puppy to their puppy kindergarten classes and it was so wonderful! The trainers are amazing and knowledgeable. They really helped me work with my baby using positive reinforcement. At the end of each class the puppies got to play in the yard together! They also have weekly puppy playgroups which are really affordable and much needed due to COVID-19 to help socialize with other puppies. I would give them 10 stars is possible!
