Huge disappointment from previous visits. We waited 30 minutes for 3 burgers and a cuban, none of which was cooked correctly. The Cuban had absolutely no flavor. My husband's burger was cut in three pieces, the cheese wasn't melted, and for an extra $5, he got a tbsp of " real" bacon bits instead of actual bacon! $90 for a family of 4 and the food was very low quality. The only good thing was our server, she was friendly and personable.

We’ll be back…. We hadn’t been to The Village Tavern since they changed owners-we’re so glad we checked it out! Our dinner was so delicious, from appetizer to dessert. The owner/chef came to our table to chat about the redfish appetizer that we enjoyed -that was a nice personal touch. Very friendly staff!

What a nice place for dinner!Stopped in this weekend, it was off season but a nice cozy restaurant. Asked our server for her recommendation and didn't hesitate on the choice. Short ribs were melt in your mouth and delicious..My wife had the Salmon with mashed sweet potatoes. Excellent!!! I highly recommend visiting the Village Tavern Restaurant, it's Friendly home cooking. We'll be back again.

It's not a secret that over the past several years, for one reason or another, the Village Tavern steadily declined in terms of service, quality/value of food and drink, and overall atmosphere. Coming here since 1994, it got to the point that I just didn't want to waste my money or be disappointed again. Under new ownership and management, I am very happy to say that those days are over, and the Village Tavern is once again the place. In Hammondsport for just one night as part of a longer visit to the area, I stopped in and winded up talking with the owner. She assured me that things were different now, and invited us to have a drink. We ended up making dinner reservations for that evening. Put simply, dinner was amazing. Our server, Cheri, was attentive and has worked here for many years, which means she knows firsthand the difference between the old and the new. She just confirmed what we already could see, feel, and taste. We both decided on the Weekend Tasting Menu. Outstanding. Each course was as good or better than the one before. Chef John Mims really knows his stuff. We loved the Cajun-influenced food in the Finger Lakes. The Redfish was perfectly seasoned, light and flavorful. The Braised Pork Shoulder was tender in a great sauce. Accompanied by a bottle of local wine, this dinner was a great return to what was once my favorite place in Hammondsport, and looks like will be again. Highly recommended.

Atmosphere was good, but the food was lacking. None of our orders were done correctly (it took them 4 tries) and I could only eat a portion of my burger due to how undercooked it looked.I try not to cause issues so i didn't make them redo it. But it wasn't worth the prices.

My wife and I were in town for a couple of nights snd thought we would try the VT. The atmosphere is very casual but the food is more upscale. I tried the "Chefs Tasting" this included four tastings including scallops that were some of the best I have had. Cheri was friendly and attentive and brought our drinks promptly that were spot on. Next time in the area we will surely return to try some of the other offerings.

We just wanted to see Keuka Lake and have supper close to home. Who knew I'd pick a place with a chef from my hometown New Orleans?! And what a talent. We went nuts ordering all over the menu. Each item was the #1 pick of someone in our party. Server Kyla was sweet and dreamy, and even the perplexed runner (who knew nothing about the food) added to the charm. Since we had a bottle of wine, and one of us ordered the prix fixé menu, we dreaded the total tally. But when the check was presented, we were pleasantly surprised. We'll be back for more delish, or even to enjoy the alligator motifs, Mardi Gras beads and fleur de lys decor while having a drink at the old classic bar.

Awful. I had a reservation but stood in front for fifteen minutes, and not a single person looked at us. We were finally brusquely conducted to a booth (no eye contact, not even common courtesy), when I asked the waitress to see a wine list she informed me “Im not sure there is one.” I asked, “you mean you don’t know?” Then she said, “well, I don’t drink alcohol myself, I’ll go ask.” With that, we got up and left. Several patrons who were already seated told us they wish they’d done the same, but finally got their food. Never again.

Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and great food. Went there for a family gathering maybe 16 people altogether. Service was fast and so was the food. The steak I had there was cooked perfect to temp, the Cajun shrimp and grits were phenomenal, and save room for desert because that bourbon cream pie knocked it out of the park for us.

My husband and I had a marvelous dinner here. He had a very generous portion of prime rib and I had the amazing seafood court bouillon. Incredible! The food was nothing short of spectacular! The service was well above expectations. Friendly and welcoming, Kayla really went above and beyond to make sure everything was just right. If you visit The Finger Lakes, (and everyone should) The Village Tavern is a definite MUST DO! Outstanding!

This New Orleans themed restaurant is right on the square. It has a lot of good choices for beer and wine, many of them local. The food menu was fine. My biggest problem, and why it doesn't get five stars, is that as a solo diner I was not told about the special nor was I offered dessert as tables next to me were. This is not the first time this has happened to me, and I don't mean to be whining. It's just that servers need to be aware that solo diners will often spend a lot more money because going out is often an event. I would have gotten dessert, and I would have probably ordered a second drink had I been made to feel more welcome

My brother and I were visiting relatives on Keuka Lake, and they recommended the Village Tavern for an early dinner for the 4 of us. We had an OUTSTANDING meal but our overall experience was 5++ because of our server, Cheri. She was personable, entertaining, attentive, and best of all, when we asked her for menu recommendations, she didn’t hesitate to highlight options that she thought were the absolute best….right down to the dessert options. This restaurant is a home run and I have already recommended it to a few of my friends in Corning.

Unique and interesting menu, focusing on New Orleans fare and a number of seafood dishes. The service was very attentive and quick. The bacon wrapped shrimp was ok, the bacon wasn't crisped enough so it was a little chewy. The crab and Gouda cheese was interesting, it had a good amount of crab and the cake was moist. The fried shrimp sandwich was the best thing we ordered. Shrimp was succulent, the onion and lettuce added nice freshness. The sauces on all the dishes could have used more flavor

Outstanding restaurant! What a GEM! The food is delicious, and presented wonderfully with color and flare. The chef is a real foodie from New Orleans, who now lives in the immediate area. The prices are very reasonable, and the service was outstanding. A great place to stop for dinner after wine tasting, biking, lake activities, or just enjoying the ambiance and beauty of the Finger Lakes.

Dinner for two on 9/18/2023 was not bad, but certainly not anything to rave about. Caesar salad tasty, yet smallish, no croutons. She crab soup, a bisque, very good, lacked only the small shot of sherry.Beer selection was unremarkable, a local canned pint from Keuka Brewing was good.Table service was perfunctory without warmth; waitress turned a bit argumentative when my wife asked for a beer glass that wasn’t frosty~the correct answer to the request might have been “of course!”Atmosphere/ ambiance was tired and worn.

My halibut entree was outstanding and the service was great. My husband's burger was the size of McDonald's served on a huge, bland roll. He ate half. Nothing was served with my entree. No salad or veggies at $34. We did get two cold grocery store rolls that I would never serve to company! We told our server, not complaining, thinking they would want honest opinions since they are new. She did come back from the kitchen saying the bread was a work in progress and the burger was measured wrong. I am not in the restaurant business, but have been around long enough to expect a manager or owner to come out and say hello when only three tables were taken. They did speak for a long time to a couple who were restaurant owners in a nearby town. It was very quiet and we could hear the entire conversation. We felt a bit uncomfortable. Luckily someone turned on the music. We said we'd go back, but after rehashing our experience, we probably won't. We wish them the best of luck.

This fabulous restaurant was right down the street from the house where we stayed. The ambiance was really nice and the food was fantastic. My mom got the prime rib and it was huge. My aunt and I both got the short ribs on fondue mashed potatoes. We both loved it. Several individuals got other entrees and everyone came away full and happy. It isn’t cheap but it is definitely worth it.Food & drinks: Yum.

My husband and I went to check out the changes made by the new owner. There were so many delicious choices on the menu that we went with suggestions made by our server, Cheri ( who was great, btw!). He had the Seafood Court Bouillon and I went with the Carbonara. Both were amazing! We're looking forward to our next visit to try something different. My only request is for better bread. The Cajun pesto dipping sauce was so good, but the soft dinner rolls didn't do it justice. That said, it was an overall great experience.

We went there for lunch. Inside was beautiful. A bar atmosphere with a New Orleans theme. Clean. The server was friendly, and the service was fast. I had mufalatta salad and their crab bisque soup. My husband had the pulled pork sandwich. My friend had a hamburger. Both came with french fries. My salad and soup were very salty. They liked their meals. We had a rootbeer that was on tap, which was very good.
