This place was amazing! We stopped into the movie playing in the theater, thinking we would only stay a couple minutes but watched the entire hour long video, amazed about the story and how much Curtiss contributed to aviation, vs. the Wright brothers. Cool museum, definitely give yourself enough time to watch the entire video in the theater.

I will never forget my experience at Glenn H Curtiss Museum. My boyfriend and I were looking for quality places to visit on our way from Toronto to Watkins Glen State Park. We are big on history and nature and I'm from a small town myself. Honestly, the most refreshing way to get from A to B on a trip is to stop along the way and take in the scenery and appreciate the history of older towns and their amazing attributes. The museum was one of those takeaways. The staff got us engaged with a brain stimulating scavenger hunt around the historic planes, cars, pieces, and engines. You can walk upclose to the planes. The floor was spacious and there loads of exhibits to explore or to brush up your knowledge on early American engineering and innovation and how it shapes today's aviation. I highly recommend for young, learning minds or if you're just looking for a quiet place to think.

Outstanding museum and restoration facility. Being a bit of a WWII history buff, I knew about Curtiss aircraft but more interested in the legends of the skies. I had no idea Glenn Curtiss was the REAL LEGEND: a self-taught, engineer, speed record holder, businessman and even developer. His story was quite inspirational. He accomplished so much in his short 52 years, only 2 years older than me! A reminder to get on it and follow your dreams.Highlight was seeing the P40 Warhawk being restored, do not miss this area, it is hidden.

This museum is awesome! Lots of informative bits and blurbs, and it was easy to understand for someone who doesn't understand engines and such to digest. The classic boats and vehicles are so cool. The war hawk is suuuper neat, too. Definitely my favorite plane there. Staff is nice and the bathrooms were clean! :) They also have a theater for a movie and lots of places to sit down for people with mobility issues which is very thoughtful. 🐡

Wonderful museum to explore. Great film about the life of Curtiss and the competitive world of aviation. Museum has a nice gift shop and there are numerous examples of early bicycles, motorcycles, and vehicles that are all rare and beautifully restored including airplanes. Great fun for the family and his life is captured in a must see video that describes the professional challenges he met to develop innovative aircraft engines.

The Glen H. Curtis Museum is truly outstanding, offering a diverse array of exhibits spanning from bicycles and motorcycles to airplanes. Each display is thoughtfully presented and thoroughly explained, making it a delight to explore. The collection of planes housed within the museum is truly impressive, and the accompanying one-hour movie provides an exceptionally informative experience. Without a doubt, this is a first-class museum that is well worth a visit.

I love history and this museum is a fantastic story of early bikes, motorcycles and airplanes, built by Glenn Curtiss. The display of bikes is amazing and many have been restored. The motorcycles were equally amazing and the story of Glenn Curtiss and racing bikes is awesome. He also built some great motorcycles. Most people will know him as part of the Curtiss-Wright airplane manufacturing. The planes on display are early types as well as a P40 Mustang made famous during WW2. If you are in the Finger Lakes, take the time to come and visit this place.

We chose to visit this museum out of all others in the area and it was well worth it. There is a lot to see and learn about Glenn H. Curtiss who in one display's posted quote is described as a "self taught mechanical genius." An aviation pioneer, his planes are all here along with their engines from leisure to war time. His motorcycles, bikes, boats, some personal belongings and a classic car collection make this a fascinating exhibit for anyone who loves all things powered by motors.

Truly astounding view into how one person from humble beginnings went on to change the course of American and global advances in both motorcycle technology and powered flight. The Wright brothers may have been first to fly but Glenn Curtiss was first to build an entire industry around flight. Its a must to visit here if you are in the area.

The structures outside of the facility, like war plane, railcar, statues, easily draw visitors into the experience of learning about the man who pretty much engineered anything mechanically or manually moveable from the early 1900's until his death. Seeing memorabilia encased behind glass or engines and moving parts on grand display transported us to simpler times. The age of invention was huge, and prior to touring the museum I'd had no idea what an impact this one individual had on it. I was in awe of the original biplanes, bicycles, engines and motor cars, as well as the replicas of what Glenn H. Curtiss had put into flight and/or motion. So much of what he began is still used today in some form, as he paved the way for further engineering. The airplanes, motorcycles, motorcars, family heirlooms, boats, cars, trucks, jeeps and machines in pristine shape made a big impression housed in that space. A small movie theatre paid tribute by film and various television sets shared video of the history of airplanes, etc. Everything was labelled with large posted readings. The education was endless. We were pleased to find the gift shop not only carried the usual souvenirs but tin signs and historical books as well. Towards the end of the tour, a slew of postcards were made available for a small donation. It was an inexpensive and highly informative trip that we'd love to take again.
