I had a different vet before this place for my bunny Belle. They didnt know what to do with him when he stopped eating and pooping. A friend recommended this location and they have been his vet ever since. They saved his life and continue to do so. They were able to diagnose him and treat him. They truly care for your pet and treat them like their own. I 100% would recommend this team to anyone. Ive had so many different experiences with vets and they by far exceeded my expectations. I am truly grateful to have found them.

I have no words to describe how loving the staff is here. I lost my bunny Mocha last month and everyone in the office was so sympathetic and caring and they allowed me to spend as much time as I needed with Mocha before I said goodbye. Today I received a card written by the staff and an actual drawing of Mocha, which they didn’t even have to do but means so much to me! Thank you so much for everything you guys have done for me and my bunnies these past 10 years. You’re all greatly so greatly appreciated!

5 stars does not do it justice! Thank you to LIBEVC for taking care of my bunny in our neediest time! Not only did you take such good care of him but you CARE SO MUCH, genuinely and it shows. They treat our pets like they are their own! They would sent me pictures and videos as updates and made sure I was always included along the way; it made such a difference. They truly and genuinely love what they do and they make it their mission. Thank you to Dr. Vecere and every single person at LIBEVC! I cannot recommend them enough!!

A truly professional and caring veterinary clinic. hey listen and take detailed notes of your pet's condition and really do their best to help your pet get better. They follow-up to see how everything is going. Everyone from the front desk, to the nurses to the doctor are all involved in the utmost in the care of your pet. I have a parakeet that had to go in, and Dr. Lee took it step by step to ascertain the issues and treatment, even calling me on a Sunday afternoon to see how he was doing. They truly care. The clinic is also very clean and you feel that they will do their best to help your pet. I cannot say enough about this wonderful group. Thank you.

This is Clyde’s our green iguana’s 20 treatment with Long Island Bird and Exotics. Every visit is like the first. The staff is amazing caring and compassionate. Clyde’s treatment has been helping him thrive and he is doing so much better. Thankyou to the entire staff at LIBEC.

Our rabbit needed surgery and I could not speak more highly of how wonderful the vet staff and vet was through this experience. Dr Isabel answered all our questions as we were very worried having our senior rabbit undergo surgery (he’s almost 10 years old). They also got him into surgery sooner due to the severity of what he needed. I would recommend this place any day if you have a small animal, bird or reptile, they really care about the animals here and it shows.

Thank you so much to Dr. Gina Vecere, she’s truly an amazing doctor and a really kind and compassionate person!! As a beardie mom, I trust and value Dr. Vecere’s opinion so much!A few months ago, a small part of my bearded dragon tails fell off, we rushed him to the vet the next day and not only did she treat my beardie but she also diagnosed him right away after seeing him symptoms. I’ve brought my beardie Ace to other vets numerous time and they could never figure out what was wrong but after one appointment with Dr. Vecere and running a few test, it was clear that Ace has adenovirus. I also had to make the most difficult decision to put my youngest beardie to sleep because she unexpectedly got sick over night and after bringing her to LIBEV and getting a second opinion from Dr. Vecere, I felt and knew in my heart it was the right thing to do and put my baby to rest. The staff was very kind during this time and I’m forever grateful!Dr. Vecere’s knowledge is out of this world and whenever I bring my bearded dragons in for an appointment, I know they are receiving the absolute best care! She explains everything in detail and always gives you all the options while still making you feel at ease. She also takes the time to give me a follow up call after each vet appointment to check on my bearded dragons. If you are looking for a doctor that treats patients with so much care and a staff that is extremely warm and friendly from the minute you walk through the door then I highly recommend bringing your reptile babies to LIBEV!!Thank you so much for all you do Dr. Vecere, you are a superwoman for the entire reptile community! And thank you from the Beardie Bunch!

I have never felt more comfortable and happy with a vet in my life. I used to go to a different place and they were lovely and caring and helpful but here I feel like they just love my parrot and care about him and give me plenty of time to speak to Dr Lee. She came out afterwards because I had some more questions and she called with the blood test results. This is truly a remarkable veterinarian.

The entire staff at Long Island Birds & Exotics is absolutely exceptional! I am beyond appreciative for all they've done for my guinea pig, Einstein, and myself! From the lovely and helpful receptionists always accommodating my hectic work schedule to the very knowledgeable and caring, Dr. Lee putting my mind at ease through what most pet parents find to be a stressful and heartbreaking time, they're all incredible people who you can tell love what they do. I won't trust my "sweet potatoes" with anyone else 💚

This review is for the treatment of a homing pigeon.I have six rescue animals and I rehab others in addition to that so I have a decent amount of experience at veterinary offices. On average I spend a few thousand a year on medical care for rehab/rescues. Vet visits are never a pleasant experience but what you hope for going in is professionalism, kindness and transparency.Front desk staff are cordial enough and professional. They saw me almost right away despite my very early arrival. The facility is bright, clean and pleasant. There was a sweet little conure hanging out in a large cafe in the lobby. The nurse I spoke to (Jacqueline (sp.?)) was really great at her job and made me feel comfortable. She asked a lot of questions and took notes regarding my pigeon's home life. I assumed these questions were diagnostic but I think they also have a vested interest in ensuring these animals are properly being cared for given their uncommon nature. They gave me a pretty comprehensive pigeon care consultation. The doctor was prompt and professional. She gave me the impression that she was very knowledgeable about bird anatomy. I did not necessarily agree with the stance that an indoor pigeon's normal laying cycle = chronic egg-laying = give your bird hormonal birth control, but I understand the concern about calcium depletion and will take extensive measures to guard against that. The doctor was comfortable handling my pigeon and seemed genuinely concerned for her pain. She answered my questions and tolerated my anxiety. The knowledgeability is why I choose avian vets. At regular vets, birds are like an afterthought. My doctor was also honest about prognosis and gave me clear instructions for aftercare.Price is an awkward sticking point during vet visits. Obviously, staff have to be paid and procedures require special equipment and supplies. However there is an inevitable conflict of interest anytime a medical service is provided by a for-profit entity--mainly because any clinic only stands to benefit from providing and billing for unnecessary procedures. It's an industry that, at its worst, can capitalize on client ignorance.I've only visited this place once but I think they strike a fair balance where that is concerned. Unusual pets will naturally be more costly to care for. My pigeon, as I suspected, had broken her shoulder. I came in hoping it would be possible to bind her and boost her chances of being able to fly again. The doctor offered me a comprehensive treatment plan which made sense for the most part. I'm generally against frivolous blood work for young healthy animals (or for treating injuries unrelated to systemic disease) as I feel that is pushed excessively at vet clinics so I declined it. I understand that holistic wellness is important but I go to the vet for acute injury/illness and I like to buy services that are truly necessary for improving the animal's condition. I would have paid a couple thousand for surgical intervention if it could guarantee that she would fly again but that just isn't the case.I deeply really appreciated that the doctor was forthcoming with me about costs and was willing to work with me when I refused certain aspects of the treatment plan. It sucks having to negotiate over a sick animal. She showed me an itemized list of procedural expenses and allowed me to look over it before proceeding. When I didn't want to pay for certain things, she was absolutely respectful of it and helped me figure out a more conservative treatment. Her injury is in such a location that it wouldn't even benefit from being bound / set. The more conservative diagnostics/treatment confirmed the injury well enough workout the need for sedation. I asked if additional diagnostic testing would improve her chances of flying again, or would change her home treatment plan. They were honest with me and said no, so I chose not to pursue additional testing. That alone deserves more than five stars. Thanks for your help guys! I hope to not need your services too often but I'm glad you are there in case.

Today was my first time at Long Island Exotics, and I’ve finally found a place I can trust well enough to take care of my avians. I’ve been to many vets but this is the first one that sat down and explained everything to me thoroughly, and I felt safe leaving my senior bird in their care. Not only are they friendly and welcoming, but they’re informative and sincere with the level of care that they provide. I’ll continue to drive the distance just to get there, because the care and expertise they provide is exceptional. This is the only vet I’ll be coming to with my birds. I truly adore this clinic and I’ll be a customer for all of my years to come. Lastly, here’s a photo of Bean Sprout, the cute mascot that greets you at the door.

Long Island Bird & Exotics Veterinary Clinic is officially my to go to clinic. My first time coming here I was greeted and felt welcomed. Their staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The doctor who catered to my beardie was very knowledgeable and professional. She gave me very useful information and made a few suggestions. I fell in love with this veterinary clinic after receiving such amazing feedback. I owe it all to them they are so kind so caring and, I thank you. You just got yourself a loyal customer will be returning soon.

This place treats your pet as an actual patient. They have a thoughtful methodology, a scientific thoughtful approach in determining what your pet actually needs. Every-single-member of the staff here, from the very start to the very finish and through the follow ups, shows they care about the quality of their work and furthermore they actually care about our little fluffy floofy friends. We owe it to our little friends to be treated as living beings that have a complex physiology. I have nothing but admiration for every single member in this place. Also, Koukla says "hello"

Love this practice! I can’t even begin to explain my experience with LIBEVC! I can honestly say I would recommend this place 100%. I took my bird, Sasu, here for a second opinion & it was the best choice I could’ve made for Sasu! Dr Lee is wonderful! She listened to my concerns and ensure I understood and felt comfortable with the plan of care she had for Sasu. The front desk staff is also great! Kaitlyn is always a pleasure, she has great intrapersonal skills, responds in a timely manner & is super informative!! Love this place over all !

Where do I start? As a first time reptile owner and not too sure where to go for an issue such as the one Mango might be going through currently, I did some research and found this place online. From the front desk, to the assistants, and then to the amazing Doctor. I truly can’t thank you all enough for not only calming my worry wart self but the knowledge, and very thorough questions as well as awesome advice on how we can treat and make sure Mango has the best life. I left the clinic tonight feeling a whole lot better for my scaly baby. So with that being said, if you’re a new or an experienced reptile owner this is the Vet for you!

Thank you so much for your kindness. I’ve been bringing my ferret juniper for a year now and my ferret Milo for a couple of months. They’re always so professional and kind to us and always answer all of my questions. I can be a very anxious owner and tend to over think. Dr. Lee is amazing so are all the nurses and receptionist they never get annoyed at my questions and are always happy to help!

If you ever need to take an exotic pet child to a vet - look no further - this place is fantastic. Shout out to Dr. Vecere who took care of my Bearded Dragon with such ease. As well, thank you to the rest of the team there for all their help. There is such a great feeling of love, care, and helpfulness here. It was great environment and overall experience.

Dr. Gina Vecere treated my tortoise Goldie bc he was not eating, she found via X-ray that he had swallowed two quarters! After following her treatment plan, his appetite has returned and his plumbing is back to normal. Dr. Vecere is a rare veterinarian bc so few vets actually know how to treat reptiles. LIBEVC provides awesome animal care, plus their professional staff really enjoy helping pets and their owners. Their fees are very reasonable compared to other regional animal hospitals with the same level of experience and talent 🙏🏼

I brought my bird in after a tragic emergency and Dr. Vecere and her team were AMAZING!!!We were greeted so nicely and every staff member was sincere and warm during that stressful time. Dr Vassir was sure to explain everything in detail to me that she was doing & her plan of action for my bird. Not only is she a great doctor and was extremely thorough but she also is extremely compassionate and knowledgeable. I would recommend this veterinary hospital in a heartbeat! Thank all of you for helping Wally with a speedy recovery!

In October, I brought my very sick 9-month-old parakeet to Long Island Bird & Exotics Veterinary Clinic in Great Neck, NY. After a $40 gram stain, they misdiagnosed her and put her on the wrong medication while recommending very expensive tests that ended up being “inconclusive,” requiring even more expensive tests. After two weeks of no improvement, I ended up taking my pet to a vet in Huntington, NY for a second opinion who did not recommend the costly tests, saying they were unnecessary, but repeated the same simple gram stain that immediately revealed a different diagnosis and treatment. Improvement began 2 days after treatment started and she recovered. I had to travel three times the distance but it was worth it to have a caring medical professional I could trust.

The whole staff is amazing. We did not have the outcome we would have hoped for, but everyone in this clinic was so attentive and thoughtful. We truly felt that our pet was cared for, and we ourselves felt cared for us well. Thank you so much LIBEVC!

This is a HUGE thank you to the staff here. The vets are amazing but so are their staff. They deal with my chicken lady crazy with incredible kindness. And they care enough to check-in regularly. I received- unprompted -weekly phone calls to check in on my injured chicken throughout her treatment. They have helped when some of my other girls have been sick. It is 45 min away from my house but I don’t care. The drive is completely worth it. Thank you guys for saving Tubs- she thoroughly enjoys sunbathing in them middle of the floor now.

I've been to LIBEVC a few times with my parrot. The staff is very helpful and kind. I've had emergencies and they always manage to get us in the same day. They haven't pressured us to get procedures we don't need and have taken time to answer all our questions. Even though I live in queens, I am happy with the treatment we've had and will continue to bring my pet here for regular checkups, hopefully no more emergencies.

I brought my guinea pig here since he was wheezing and I thought he had developed a growth under his lip. The staff was super friendly and took really good care of my little boy. Turned out he didn't have a growth under his lip, it was just stuck on food or something but the doctor did prescribed him something for the wheezing. After finishing the medicine he hasn't had any issues and has been a lot more active. I would definitely recommend this place if your guinea pig needs a vet!

Highly recommend coming here if you think your tiel is not feeling well. The staff are very informative, helpful, and caring and do a great job handling your pet look and feel their best. Now I have a better understanding on how to give my cockatiels a healthier happier life and do my best to prevent illness, but if I see anymore signs of illness in my cockatiels in the future I know where to go now

They’re worth the trip from Brooklyn! When I first adopted my bun baby back in 2020, I went to a few different exotic vets to make sure Munchi was getting the best care. Three (almost 4) years later, they are the only ones I trust! They treat him like their own, and he’s always sent home spoiled rotten with treats and love! Thank you for the amazing care!

This place has been so great at taking care of two of my rabbits! They are so kind and thorough talking to pet owners about any concerns and the people who work there really do the most to take sincere care of all creatures. My little boy Floppy was so comfy with the vet he ended up taking a nap during his own checkup.

Such an excellent exotic vet! My axolotl had a growth in her mouth preventing her from eating and I truly didn't know what to do. I called Long Island Bird & Exotics on a whim and they were able to see her in that same week. After assessing the issue, we scheduled a surgery and they successfully removed the growth! The doctor and nurse were so incredibly kind and informative, I trusted them every step of the way. The reception staff are also so sweet and caring. Cannot recommend this vet enough, especially for axolotls! Thank you again!!!
