I thought I shared a review as I stayed here last year for work. It is a quaint place just in Grand Gorge and close to Stamford and Delhi. Josh was wonderful and their cat is super cute! I had a queen room last time with the smaller bath but Josh gave me a king room and it was gorgeous and spacious. Plus I love the rocking chairs out front on the porch, the Keurig, and amenities like larger fridge and microwave and closet. You can’t beat the price and hospitality. I would rather stay here than in Oneonta and go to a family owned, quality establishment and support small business.

The Colonial is a charming breath of fresh air! You'll be so happy you chose this wonderful little Inn opposed to a chain commercial hotel. The rooms are complete with TVs, microwaves, refrigerators, freezers, WIFI, Keurigs, irons, and ironing boards. There is an inground swimming pool for summer stays, too. The mattresses are excellent! The service here is just as lovely as the rooms. 100% recommend! I'll be back for sure!

The pros: The Motel is super cute, not dirty at all, that wasn't bad. Guy at front desk was very nice, spacious room, plates and silverware and pots were a nice touch as well as the k-cups coffee. The beds are super hard and the maids didn't change the sheets from the last guest, just made the bed again. So I got in pretty late and pulled the covers back in the dark and got in the bed and slept. When I woke up in the morning I got up and looked in the bed and saw a apple phone headset cord in bed with me, which tells me they didn't change the sheets from the last guest.....super gross. Also out the back window is weeds and overgrown trees, but I hear a babbling brook, if they could do some cutting we would be able to have a view that sounds really pretty.

We booked a weekend at the Colonial to attend a family wedding in the Catskills. We had a change of plans after the 60 day cancellation deadline and the owner couldn't be nicer or more helpful in rebooking the room so we wouldn't get charged. We're looking forward to a future stay!! If the rooms and grounds are half as nice as the owner it will be an incredible experience.

Josh was SUPER nice upon check-in, explaining where all the rooms were, the WiFi, etc. Other guests in the hotel were courteous of others. Prime location down the block (about 6 min drive) from supermarket, ice cream, liquor store, bar, and restaurants. Rooms were a bit dark but super clean, AC was on upon arrival (which was needed after a 4 hour trip during a thunder storm,) and loaded with amenities like a clean fridge, microwave, Keurig, tea, shampoo/conditioner, and even make up remover wipes! 100% would stay here again for our next trip.

Sweet spot. We stayed in one of the motel-style rooms (they also have BnB-style rooms in the main house). We really appreciated the obvious care and attention given to the whole place – comfortable bed, plenty of pillows, nice linens and towels, nicely painted room, spotlessly clean and well-maintained bathroom, great pool and pool area. The staff was friendly and attentive. Can’t wait to go back.

This place was amazing for our group. The pool was very clean and I saw the caretaker out cleaning it everyday. The room was super clean and perfect for my two kids and I. We had a large group and it was really nice to each have our own rooms but then we could hang out at the picnic tables and the kids loved hanging out at the pool together. I can’t emphasizes how awesome the pool was. I would totally book this place if it’s available. Oh, and the hosts are very friendly!

My family of 13, including 4 sons and their families, had a very enjoyable weekend at the Colonial motelWe found our room nicely decorated and very cleanThe pool was sparkling, and the kids had so much funThe adults could lounge around the pool, or play games at the tables. It was a nice way to relax for a few hours! If you are looking to come to the country, this is the place! It’s nested in the Catskills. It’s easy to find streams and hiking nearby. Try the old railroad tracks! Great for a family hike!I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!

Old-fashioned, family-owned motel, updated enough to make it a good fit for us. Rooms can be small (we've stayed here the times, a family member one other time), but beds were comfortable and rooms were clean. We always stayed in the motel rooms, not the house/inn portion, so not sure how it differs. In our multi-stay experience, the place is frequently booked full, esp during--no not "especially during." Almost any time that's not mud season, it's a popular place to stay. So if you're traveling during wedding season and *must* catch a wedding shuttle, don't wait until you arrive to let them know! That's just stupid. Let desk know day before, I'm 100% sure they'll do their utmost to help. Upgrades the brothers did to the exterior are beautiful (they bought it from their parents!), interiors are tasteful and comfortable. And we will stay here again any time we need a place and can find a room.

I stayed here for a couple of nights in July with my daughter & her boyfriend. It’s close to my brothers house & my parents have gone there for years with my kids. It’s perfect. Quaint, clean, comfy & near town. The pool was great, the owners are just as great, very down to earth, kind & helpful plus I really enjoyed watching their dogs playing in their yard. It’s like home away from home but a much better home than mine lol. Looking forward to going back in the spring. Plan on going yearly.

We've stayed at the Colonial twice now and both times were excellent. The rooms are large with comfy beds, the pool is amazing on a summer day after a hike. The daybeds poolside are great to curl up with a book (borrowed from the hotel shelf) and a nap. They are pet friendly and baby friendly. The brothers who run it are very kind, always around to recommend an activity or to help with anything you need.Location is perfect too, Pizza Plus is right next door, with antiques on other side, and the gas station/general store is right down the block.

An absolutely charming, clean, comfortable place to stay with an owner on site “Sam” who cares about your well-being and comfort. We stayed in the main building second floor in a beautiful, well appointed room. The room was absolutely spotless not only to my eye, but upon checking the entire room with my Black light I could not find one surface that was not spotless and attended to by the cleaning staff. The room came equipped with a small refrigerator, Microwave and a Keurig coffee machine with a choice of K-cups to chose from. The grounds are clean and well maintained, so much that we spent time sitting in the wicker furniture on the front porch sipping a cup of Coffee and reviewing the history of the town of Grand Gorge (formally Mooresville) the building which is well over 150 years old and slow pace of the town.We had hoped to have a little Ghost experience over night curtesy of a former resident, but to no avail did we experience any supernatural events. “Yikes” lolWe would not think twice about staying in this enchanting place again and will make reservations soon for a return trip in the early winter. This Place met all our expectations and beyond for a safe, clean and healthy place to stay.

I hate writing bad reviews, especially for what seem to be family owned places. But I was really disappointed with our stay at this place. We booked a room because we were attending a wedding in the area and the couple had blocked off rooms. We selected a “Cozy Queen”. If you’re unfamiliar, it’s because the room is incredibly small. We didn’t realize just how small until we got there. It wouldn’t have been a problem if not for the other happenings during our stay.1. We arrived at exactly 2pm for check in. The attendant was pleasant. We went to the room. The doors are updated we key cards. Cool. Except that when we got into the room, it was in shambles. Clearly not cleaned since the prior guest was there. The attendant was apologetic and said the room could be ready in a half an hour. I reminded them we had a wedding shuttle to get to by 4pm latest. We wound up waiting an HOUR for the room to be prepared at 3pm, leaving us barely an hour for two adults to shower and get ready (clothes, hair, makeup) for the wedding. We wound up missing the wedding shuttle because we were late due to the unprepared room. We had to thus drive to and from the wedding which significantly impacted our experience of the wedding. I could have been more assertive but I’m very disappointed that the motel did not just give us a different room that was prepared and ready to go and rectify their mistake immediately.2. The room being small wasn’t an issue for a two night stay. It was quaint and felt relatively clean. The bed was a queen but it was ungodly uncomfortable. Two full grown adults trying to sleep on what felt like an 80 year old slab of springs. The pillows were pancakes, likely not replaced in a very long time. There are no pictures of the bathroom online. Be aware that if you are taller than 6’ and plus size, showering and getting ready in this bathroom will be difficult. Not impossible, just a tight squeeze. There’s also a door from the house portion of the motel and into the room, where the maids come through. This caught us off guard. Be sure to lock it if you do not want them coming in when you’re still asleep in the morning.3. We paid something like $139 per night for this experience. I get that it was the days ahead of July 4th weekend but it just seems like an insane amount of money considering a good nights sleep was impossible, the amenities are limited, and the very reason we were in the Catskills and staying at this motel was for the wedding we were made late to.The pool is clean. We didn’t get to use it. But it would have been nice. The WiFi is slow. Don’t expect to stream or do work on it if you are traveling for business of any kind. There are basic TV channels, no cable or streaming.

My friend and I needed a last minute lodging solution at 9:30 on our first night of a Catskills vacation, having been displaced from our pre-paid location. The folks at the Colonial Motel were super nice and accommodated us with a great room, complete with a little kitchenette area, at an affordable rate. The whole family running this place is friendly - plus, they’ve got an awesome cat named Jack. We ended up returning the last night of our vacation when our pre-paid location still wasn’t working out and had a room in the main house with its long front porch that was lovely. Stay here!

Had the pleasure of staying here for 4 nights during the last week. I was met by friendly staff and professional service, my room was spotless and warm. From a pest control point of view this is the place you want to stay,no signs of any pests big or small. The room was big,the bed comfortable, and the house keeping service was great. I plan on coming back here when in the area again for sure. If you want a nice place to stay at a reasonable price the colonial motel is the place to be. Also lots of local places to eat as well.

Bed sheets were soft, soft warm blankets! Had a very cozy feel. If you are a light sleeper I recommend staying in the motel part. We loved it other than being able to hear above our heads in the main house. Very homey feel!

I had already given this place 5 stars for their clean, comfortable rooms, beautiful grounds, and friendly staff, but I wish I could upgrade to 6 stars after what happened. My wife left behind a very expensive and sentimental necklace and did not notice until we were 5 hours away heading back to southern NJ. I called and unfortunately they did not find anything. I all but counted it lost, and my wife was devastated. However, a week later, my wife got a call from the son of the owner that they had found the necklace, and it was in the mail heading back to us! We got it the very next day in perfect condition. I cannot thank the family and staff enough for not only running a great family business, but for simply being good people who do the right thing.

This motel is located right near the dollar general, a good pizza place, and a gas station with decent coffee. The staff is as friendly as they come and the rooms are clean. The shower had hot water for a long shower, and the Wi-Fi works consistently.
