Took a guided First Day Hike with CJ-- we couldn't be more impressed. Excellent Welcome/Info Center, friendly staff, beautiful park with well-marked trails. Definitely will be back!

Great park. Beach can get crazy packed on holidays and super hot days. Make sure to wear sunscreen or go in the shade on those days. The trail on the boat rental side is pretty easy. The trail on the left of the beach is very rocky and was super buggy during my visit a few weeks ago. But otherwise it's not bad.

A wonderful place for tourism, fishing, grilling and swimming. The atmosphere is very beautiful. There is a restaurant and a grocery store with cheap prices and very good for everyone. The place is clean and calm. There is a parking lot that accommodates everyone. It was a fun and fun experience. I advise anyone to go and take a look. Good luck to all♥️

2nd pond is a great beginners pond, can get busy at times but only with maybe 8 people on the pond. Fishing is allowed, but no motorized boats. Reasonable parking, kayak/boat launch, small dock, very quiet and peaceful.

Always a great experience, especially off-season when there are a lot less people. The trails are well marked and beautiful but muddy in spots almost year round though very rocky at times so wear good shoes. The fire tower trail is a real treat and great views. My kids loved it and had no problems making their way to the top. The welcome center is open year round and recently renovated it seems.

Visited on Memorial Day weekend. Park opens at 8am, we arrived at 10am. The beach was clean and well kept. The staff and lifeguards were super friendly. Renting the boats and kayaks was a breeze. We brought our own food, they do offer a variety of food options at the concession stand. Burgers,Hotdogs, Chicken Sandwiches, fries and Fried Dough. I purchased fried dough with a slushy. Had a great time by the water.

A beautiful place to spend the day with family, friends or even by yourself. Can't go wrong. I'd avoid major holidays since the beach area can be congested and parking is limited, although there are overflow lots within walking distance. No motors allowed so water is pretty clean, minus the kids pee 😉 Can bring or rent kayaks. Paddle boats and row boats are also available for rent. Some okay trails to walk or bike on. Capital district OGs refer to it as going to "the beach" 😂 (even though less than 1/4 mile of sand)Restrooms: Hit or miss on cleanliness.. water's always ice cold to clean yourself off under showers. Rarely any soap.Dog-friendliness: Okay about dogs.. should be always leashed.Picnic area: Could use a few more tables, but if you get up there early enough you can secure a good spot.. recommend reservation for pavilion areas.

Beautiful, clean beach with lots of space to spread out. Not too many people (at least when I went, a Wednesday about 10-3). Playgrounds, lifeguards, and trails. A great spot for a fun day.

Best “beach” close to Albany. Has a large sandy swimming area. Also you can rent row boats, canoes and kayaks as well as launch your own. Has restrooms , snack bar and a changing station. Many trails for hiking. Open 8 to 6 in season. The beach area can get crowded particularly on weekends with many families with children.

Beautiful fall colors! The welcome center had a trick or treat night (early October) for kids that they clearly put lots of effort into. There were crafts, games and a nature walk that taught the kids a lot about critters in the woods (millipede, fox, firefly, owl, spider) through interactive activities. Very sweet!

I am an almost a daily walker to Grafton Lake State Park. The damage the park received during the recent wind stormswas overwhelming. So many very large pines were ripped from their roots everywhere I walked. The positive side to this is the amazing cleanup that the park mantinence crew has done the past couple of weeks. I want to post a thank you for all your hard work. I saw the before and after and I am so grateful to you!!

This is an amazing Park with a beautiful beach where small children have a nice section to play in the water. Lots of trails and fun. It cost $8 a car to get in the Park and it's well worth it. Bring a picnic, blanket, and some chairs as you will be hanging out all day. There are pavilions, bathrooms, and benches, plus a nice big parking lot. We rode up later in the evening during the week and Park was somewhat empty but it's a good place to visit for sure.

Had a great time walking on the Long Pond Trail. Very rocky (which I assume is why it's called intermediate), but overall a good time! Ended with a nice "book walk" from the library which was a nice treat for our 4 year old. We then visited the beach where there was good social distancing. The changing rooms are closed (8/16/2020) but the bathrooms were open and usable. They also had a spot to rinse feet/bodies outside of bathrooms but there was barely any pressure.

This is a great park during summer and winter. The beach is great for relaxing during the summer. There's a concession area with indoor and outdoor seating. The winter months are just as beautiful. So many options for outdoor winter activities including snowshoeing, snowmobiling, ice skating etc.... the attached pictures were taken during their Winter Festival, which is free to attend and always fun. Great place to bring kids.

It’s a beautiful lake park. Best during summer. Lots of fun things to do- swimming, kayaking, fishing, picnicking and so on. I went there for hiking. There are several hiking trails with scenic beauty. Overall, a must visit place.

Grafton Lakes State Park has a lot to offer. Many great hiking trails with nice scenery. Nice beach as well.Six ponds to go fishing or kayaking in. For fishing the ponds offer a variety of fish to catch including bass, pickerel, trout, and panfish. Most days the ponds are fairly quiet so it easy to get out on them. For easy access to Long Pond, Second Pond, or Mill Pond use North Long Pond Road. No fee to use the road and you can pick between three different ponds.Great way to get outdoors and enjoy it.Playground: One located in the park.Restrooms: Many located throughout the park. Some of the ponds have portable toilets near them.Picnic area: Many picnic benches located throughout the park.

Beautiful park and lake. Great place to swim and hike around the lake. Not far at all if you live in the capital district. Will be going again.Playground: There are a couple good sized playgrounds for the kids.Restrooms: Two restroom areas which were kept very clean.Dog-friendliness: I saw many dogs on and around the beach. They must be leashed, but still allowed.Picnic area: Plenty of grills for everyone to use.

Grafton is a beautiful state park. It's wonderful year round! We went to the beach in July and did the full moon luminary walk in December. It's worth a visit!

Celebrating 50 years this year! Concession stand, hiking trails, kayaking on a beautiful lake over 2 miles long with amazing scenery is a fun day to anyone. Kayak rentals at the concession stand(doubles tandem, and singles, and stand up paddle boards all can be rented at the concession stand) Definitely a affordable place to go for the day with your family.

It was a beautiful day, everything was green and lush, and not many people around. The lake was also very pretty! The hike was not too difficult. You can extend or shorten them as see fit.

We dropped in on a whim because we had a little tme to kill. The trails here were amazknh. As we pulled in so did about a hundred other cars and busses. To our delight nearly everyone was bound for the beach. We popped into the Welcome Center then took a hike. The trails here are great as you can see in the photos. We saw just one person on our 2 mile hike. The trail around Long Pond is a bit more crowded according to rangers, but there's 20+ mile's of other trails to choose. You can also rent a canoe, paddle board, or kayak for a quiet trip on the lakes which are crystal clear and beautiful.A definite treasure.

This is a great place to bring family. Lots of different bodies of water and trails everywhere for hiking, riding bikes, horses, and even a little four wheeling. There is a beach on Long Pond and plenty of activities for everyone. Located about 15 minutes outside of Troy. It's close but just far enough away. The lakes are surrounded by forest. It's a good place to relax. Or even take ur dog for a walk. The Dunham Reservoir is great for kayaking. There's trout in Shaver pond. It's stocked annually. There are blueberries bushes all over too. They make a good snack if your out hiking. Enjoy!

1st time I have been to this lake. Had a very good time. Was on the beach around 10:15am. The beach was well groomed for the start of the day. The lake was prefect to cool off in. Nice sandy walk into the lake not rocks or leaves. They only have to of the I think 6 places open where you could swim in with the life guard on duty. Later on that after noon they opened one more spot for people to swim in. There is bathrooms and a snack bar close to the beach which was very nice too. Picnic tables and grills for you to cook at pretty close to the beach too. I will be coming back to this place to swim again sometime this summer.

Great place to take family and friends on the weekend. They have rentals, grills and a place to bring your friendly pets. Weekends are a little packed but we always find a great spot to grill and swim.

We had a great time snowshoeing with the family along the lake. They rent snow shoes at the nature center for $5 (they have a lot of shoes and poles). We saw people ice fishing on the lake and they've cleared and area for ice skating (you'll need your own skates).

We reserved a tent for my granddaughters 11th birthday party. Although it was a little cold and overcast, everyone had a great time!!Playground: We made sure that we were close to 2 very nice play areas.Restrooms: The restrooms were clean, although the water was cold!! It was about 65° and cloudy that day. I was hoping to warm up while washing my hands, but it's probably wonderful on hot days!!!😂🤣Dog-friendliness: My Pomeranian had a wonderful time!
