If you want to save money on groceries don't shop here. This place is selling produce items of same quantity as Aldi (there's one 5 min down the road) for twice the price. Every item that you think you're saving money on has a random "commisarry surcharge" on it which negates any savings you get from not being charged sales tax. The only things here that sometimes are a good deal is their beef and random frozen food like hot pockets and other items that result in child obesity and high blood pressure. This organization thrives off of the ill informed consumer.

Last time I shopped I came home and meal prepped 2 weeks of foods only to find out after cooking all the food something tasted off. After checking the ingredients I found that some of the main ingredients had been expired- some of the meats had even been expired up to 3 weeks ago! I’m a busy mom of 2 and the last thing I need is to have to read every expiration date. Over $200 in homemade meals have to be thrown out now. I tried calling and nobody answered.Update: it’s been 2 months and still no resolution. When I went into the store they just shrugged and said “just keep returning the items and we might be able to refund you.”

Me and my toddler love shopping here. But the workers are not helpful at all especially at the checkout. And baggers only work for “tips” so as a single struggling mom whose husband is deployed it’s tough. Bring your own reusable bags to avoid stress at the checkout because the workers will see you struggling but will walk away to avoid helping you.

This is such a great commissary, it makes me want to enlist. Top brands. Wide variety, good Hispanic section. Prices great. And no NY STATE hated plastic bag ban. And wonderful Gairdierna in oil

Decent place to shop. I prefer Walmart. Walmart is right outside of Fort Drum and offers a wide array of items and is generally cheaper than the Commissary.

Visiting with family, could not buy anything. Fantastic store, easy product layout, and great selection. Remember to tip your baggers, they are just so helpful and friendly.

Pros:- Quality is higher than most local stores, especially with things like vegetables.- Check out time is very quick, and organized. Standing in line to check out for more than 5 minutes is uncommon.- Better prices on most products like energy drinks, meats, and cereal. They even beat other places on post for the same product in price.Cons:- Hours may be inconvenient to anyone who works past 7pm.- Purified water can be difficult to get and you may end up having to buy bottles instead.- Good for general items. Unique and specialty ingredients for things like baking may have to be sourced elsewhere.

You can find many things you will not get in town. I go for the meat, to me it seems fresher and is a lot cheaper than many other stores in the area.

The place is well stocked and clean, the only complaint I have is the workers at self check out. They look and sound like they hate their job when it comes to clearing things on the screen.

It's convenient that's about it. Prices are not better than the local economy. If you want to visit the nastiest bathroom on Fort Drum to include Port-a-Johns stop by the commissary on Fort Drum.

The prices are pretty decent and the selections are as well. I would like to see more selections of ramen. This is one of the main reasons I go to Walmart. Other than that, if the self checkout could remove the weight calculating feature from the bagging area that would be amazing! It takes too long to determine if the product was placed in the bag. Additionally, the area is too small if you have multiple items. If you place an item in your cart you must wait for the attendant to clear you before moving on please fix this system.Update: the checkout has gotten worse! On certain days, none of the attendants are available for checkout. On some days there is only one person in the entire store for self checkout. On those days the checkout line in extremely long. I believe this is on Mondays when the commissary would usually be closed.

The prices are decent compared to the area, and it is clean. However, every time I go I always find expired products on the shelves. And I’m talking about MONTHS expired. Quality control needs to be addressed.

We go here consistently due to the low prices and convenience. Beyond that, it's nothing great. It doesn't matter how busy it gets, you will only get two open registers at any given time. You can do self checkout, if you want to have to have an associate come scan their employee card after every other item. And that's if you can catch them in between their personal conversations. Like I said, go for price and convenience. Just don't ever have high expectations.

The only reason I’m even giving it three stars is because it’s actually cheaper than going somewhere else and I actually save a bit more as opposed to shopping at Walmart, etc.. however, that’s not to detract from the fact that the product/meat selection quality here is awful. It’s sad and honestly pathetic to see the amount of soldiers & their families complain because they bought meat that wasn’t fresh and had to throw it out. My experience was that I had bought some salad mix and noticed it was browning even though the date on it was still good. Luckily I didn’t get sick or anything. I had informed the commissary but have heard nothing back.Just a heads up if you buy meat that’s about to go bad, or is already bad, or even buy produce that looks/tastes horrible, the selection here is below standard, and definitely needs to be addressed so that hopefully it will not continue to be an ongoing issue. I’m really hoping for there to be a proactive change from this.

Great deals and customer service!! We drive 65 miles to shop here, if you are military I recommend to shop here if you can. They have coupons on each aisle and at times sell in bulk. The meats are a great price.

Very Nice! Nice selection, deals, and variety. If I'm right, in order to purchase some thinge, things, or use coupons you need to be an active military member, or a veteran. Have a nice day! Also cashiers were really nice!

OK this is about as redicilous as it could get. I understand that 1730 is when people are getting off work. But I also think you should have more than one register open in addition to self checkout.... I shouldent be halfway through the dairy isle waiting in line. Think about it.I took the time to count the carts in line. I there are 18 in fron of the self checkout. And 7 waiting on register 10. That Is a bit excessive.

It's a hit or miss! But over all great. I perfer not to shop anywhere else. I wish the international selection was bigger but it does its job. Just don't go on Mondays.

Great prices and selection. Deli has some great sandwiches you can order during lunch time. Produce can be a bit lackluster and the self checkout has lot of technical issues, so lines build up quick. Normal checkout has no issues.

Some products are discounted heavily on certain days. Today (16 Jan) Canola oil was 55 cents, down from it's normal 3 something. The cashier (very friendly and helpful!) let me know that tomorrow, something else will be discounted in a similar way. Do be careful though, depending on the product/brand the discount may not apply.

Always great prices here and very clean! The hours are the only thing thats a let down but other than that it's a great place to shop for your groceries!Deli food and fruit is fresh! Also the people who work there are very helpful and nice.

It's a commissary. Usually stocked pretty well, considering the year we're having. Produce is a little less than desired but not bad if you intend to consume immediately. Prices are actually cheaper than some of the other groceries around here.

DeCA is consolidating their selections so the options at the store are extremely limited except for packaged foods. Commissary's used to carry a large selection of local goods but that is no longer true. They recently stopped carrying River Rat cheeses which is hugely disappointing. The contract for the deli recently changed hands and they decided that pickles weren't a necessity for deli sandwiches. It's thoroughly disappointing to visit the commissary.Reducing costs is not the only goal if you want to continue competing for your customers. Invest in products not getting rid of them, invest in local products that actually support the greater local economy, invest in improving your staffing because you pay your employees woefully little. Not cutting cost by cutting services and reducing your value to your customer.Post COVID update: the deli counter is far worse and they've raised prices significantly (3.99 -> 7.99). Everything else I said still applies.Produce selection and quality has taken a giant nose dive. It's really sad to see all the wilted lettuce and leafy greens, soft zucchini and root veggies, and disgustingly slimy mushrooms. It's a bad look.3 year update: the deli counter contractor continues to be the absolute worst. Obviously you chose the lowest bidder who obviously provides the worst customer service and provide ZERO VALUE to the customer. The bread size for sandwiches continues to shrink while you continue raising prices and simultaneously offering getting options. You should be ashamed of yourself DeCA.

First of all, it's open 7 days a week and closes at 9pm every day of the week. I've never seen that at any Commissary in 30 years. My only complaint with the Commissary are the expiration dates on their products. It should be First In, First Out, but that's not the case. I will find the newest items in front, and it looks like they pushed the older items to the back, so when customers pick up the ones in the front, you are left with the products in the back that are at, or beyond their expiration date. If it happened once or 20 times, I could understand, but it happens at least twice a visit...times that by at least one visit every 1-2 weeks, and you get my issue. I thought it could be customers too, because, let's be honest...customers are the worst, but I have witnessed many stockers pushing the old stuff to the back to make room for the new products instead of pulling them out, putting the new items to the rear, and placing the older items up front. Since it's open 7 days a week, I will have to forgive them for this issue.
