Would not recommend this location would definitely recommend going to Fairport or Geneseo. Store manager is extremely rude. Walked in tonight and was told by the gentleman working in pets that he could not help me that he would be back from break in 15 minutes if I wanted to wait. Also, was accused of theft at this location when a cashier didn’t ring in the right item during my transaction.

I love to feed the birds, squirrels, chipmunks and any other critters that wander onto my property, so I'm a bit of a regular at CountryMax. I am a member of their Bird Seed Club so after every so many trips I get a free bag of bird seed, which is nice! I usually visit the one in Farmington because everyone there is so friendly and helpful. In the spring I also purchase many seedlings for my garden and they always bring lots of harvests. I love that I can bring one of my dogs into the store with me and they are greeted by staff as well. I've also had staff offer to load my car up for me as well. They have a great selection of feed for any animal and I love all their bird feeders and bird houses. The last time I went they even had canning products. You never know what you'll find.

The staff makes all the difference. They are very helpful and knowledgeable. Its great having someone to load bags of birdseed and mulch into the truck.

I used to but my gardening need here untill I went and on my trip I got black tar on my tire I asked the gentleman who was just leaning cleaning his nails if he had a scrapper of any kind even in the janitors closet and I got a laugh and a no so I'm guessing not the best in customer service

I must say this used to be one of my favorite stores. This is my second time returning to the store in the past two weeks. I wanted to talk to someone about a fish I bought that died within 3 days of me getting at home. it was already kinda sickly and they assured me that he would be fine that it was normal for these fish to have lumps on them.(today several tanks shut down due to illness 🤔) So I took the chance. The first time I came back and the young lady who seem to be in charge was running around didn’t even as much as acknowledge my presence so I left. Today I came in the guy was helping someone else. I walked around very patiently. soon as he was finished with the other customer, he went over to the reptile department leaving me standing in there. Never once asked me that I need help he wants to go and gossip with the other girl that’s working there. But on a positive note the two young people work in the register were very hospitable and cheerfully greeted me upon entering the store that’s why I gave two stars

I went into the store today and I must say that the staff is 100% better!!! The manager Jorden took care of my complaint I had the last time. I am much happier return into the store. Great customer service skills from the guys in the fish department 💪🏾

I needed propane for a 35' RV. I pulled in unsure of to access the pump. The employees - I wish I got their names, where there to assist. Once we figured out which side the propane fill port was I was told I needed to turn around the RV. This store is on the corner of two busy streets. The man became my spotter and gave me directions. He even stopped traffic as I was turning around. He went out of his way to make it safe. I told him I really appreciated his assistance. He went above and beyond. Doing all this with his mask on - protecting himself and others.Thanks

I've been an extremely loyal customer for many years however over the past 1.5 yrs or so there has been a major issue with communication an store cleanliness, special orders way too many false promises.There is a new freezer in the Farmington Location because I personally worked with Jeff in the Victor HQ for years attempting to get Stella & Chewy;'s Raw dog food in the store. It's the only product that my boxer is able to consume due to his medical issues and allergies.With the understanding that this brand is Top of the line and in high demand I wanted to be assured that I could get 4 bags ever other week. Because well my box is 75lbs he goes thru 2 bags a week. Unfortunately this was a false promise. Apparently people are returning open bags of raw food but the employees are putting them BACK IN THE FREEZER TO BE SOLD.That's an FDA violation. Open RAW food should NEVER be placed back on store shelves to be purchased!!! I've had to return 3 bags that were opened and 2 that have been EXPIRED. And every single time the stock number has been off so the JEFF does order more when the store is OUT OF STOCK because INVENTORY is NOT CORRECT! Which is also why I am NOT getting MY BOXERS Food after 2 YRS of waiting for the freezer. HONESTLY THIS STORE NEEDS TO GET IT TOGETHER. I'm SO FUMEN ANGRY this NOT ACCEPTABLE SERVICE!!! When Meg managed this department she had it together. The Product was ordered she called to let us know it arrived and ours was on hold and we could pick it up at our convenience.I've had numerous discussions with Jordan, Brett, and Mary but for what ever reason the act of getting food set aside and a call is beyond the level of customer service they are willing to provide. I am now searching for another option because clearly this staff cannot be trusted!

Ordered dog food multiple times. Every time they called saying it arrived. Every time I showed up and they didn't have it. This past time the employee said to me "sorry, this happens all the time. We don't have a good system".Update: I was assured the policy for special order items has changed at this location and was told a free bag of dog food was waiting for me. Hopefully with this new policy it is there.Update 2: Bag of free food was there, however, it was puppy food instead of adult. At least there was something there. I accepted the food and appreciate the efforts made.

The service at this particular CountryMax is exceptional. In all departments someone will usually greet you and ask how they can help you. If you just want to linger and look things over, you are never pressured. Staff are attentive to keeping customers from waiting in long check out and open new stations for purchase. Any larger package you buy they cheerfully offer to carry out. The prices are fair. I buy all my pet and much of my garden supply here. Always have a good selection of nursery stock.

If your going for fish not a good idea. I been going there for 4 months looking for fish couple times a week and they always have sick fish and fish always have tail and fin rot or ick. Buyer beware.

I usually love this store. They have everything I need and the employees are usually very nice. I recently bought a bunny here. She was a mess. I am disappointed in the poor condition she was in. The animals deserve better. I am very upset

I had an hour to wait , while my husband was in an appointment. I love to go to county max! I find it an amazing place to fuel my soul. I honestly spent 1 1/2 hrs by myself , on my BIRTHDAY, just wandering around the store!!

I normally come here to get my fish and fish products. Needless to say I will not be back for while. The state of the fish tanks was appalling! I have never seen so many dead fish. The one large tank with the goldfish had probably 30-40 fish stuck to the filter. The glass on the tanks were so dirty you couldn't really see what was in them. There was so much algae growth in some of the tanks that it was falling off in clumps. I did not get any fish from these tanks. I get the supplies I needed and went to cash out. Must say the girls at the front were too busy goofing off and acting inappropriately to care what was going on. The girl that cashed me out only rang up half of my items then refused to give me a bag. I even mentioned that she missed items but she didnt seem to pay attention. After i asked for a bag she stated that she didn't have any at her register meanwhile I'm starring at bags at the register right behind her. It was not busy in the store at the time of visit so not sure why she could not have stocked her area with supplies that were needed. Hopefully she does not last long there and they get some serious help in their pet department. Not one employee was in the fish, dog, and cat section.

I had always had good service at CountryMax until recently. Part of the issue they had no control over, part of it they did. Without going into detail about the issues, I was very happy the way Brad Payne of CountyMax took care of the problem. Although I wasn't pleased that a problem developed, I am very happy how it was resolved. I will continue to use CountryMax as my go to store for my hobby farm.

Similar to Tractor Supply or Runnings, but much more oriented towards livestock, horses, pets, etc. Very little in the way of general hardware, but, if you need anything for critters they've probably got it. Nice clean stores, friendly and helpful staff.

Not impressed with Farmington country max. Your hours are 8am to 8pm. Yet you had the closed sign on the door 35+ minutes early, there were customers cashing out... and your cashier ignored me while I stood there long enough for her to notice me. Now my bird has to wait for food til tomorrow. Very unacceptable!!!

This is the best run CountryMax that I have had the pleasure to visit. It isn't one of the bigger stores, but the staff is the most helpful & knowledgeable. Perhaps they could utilize the front sidewalk as additional space with a simple roof overhang.

I have always had a good experience at our local Country Max. We tescued guinnea pigs and one of the girls told me about sawdust that was a bigger package and better priced. Another girl helped with clipping their nails and did an amazing job. She gave me tips and tricks with them as well and I was very happy with the service. The guinnea pigs were definitely more relaxed and the girl did it with such ease. It was also a good price to have their nails trimmed and not be paying ridiculous out of pocket elsewhere. I definitely have a 5 star experience every time I go there.

Country max Farmington has a good selection of pet products, children's toys, pool and pond necessities as well as live animals and fish. They also have a nice little nursery with a broad selection of fruit, vegetable and ornamental plants and trees.
