Thank you New York State ! Visited for the eclipse, unfortunately, the clouds rolled in. But you opened the park for free, had plenty of personnel directing cars, you opened the concessions and had experts giving lectures on the eclipse !! Fantastic time.

I found another favorite destination! Stayed three nights at the campground and enjoyed beautiful sunsets, friendly people and peace and relaxation. Spacious sites in the Lakeview loop although only two offering electric. Restrooms and showers very clean. Made it down to the beach to watch the swans. Beach area and surrounding park very well maintained. Lots of areas for hiking and biking and plenty of picnic tables and grills for anyone looking for a one day getaway. There is truly something for everyone here.

Fair Haven State Beach Park is a captivating destination offering stunning views of Lake Ontario. It boasts an extensive beach area that's well-divided into several sections, accommodating a variety of activities. Amenities are abundant, including restrooms, showers, changing stations, and a handy parking garage.Swimming in Lake Ontario is a delight and certainly a highlight of our visit. Beyond the beach, the park is equipped with grilling facilities - perfect for a relaxing picnic even if you don't fancy a dip. Plus, there's a scenic trail along the lake for those who love to soak up nature.Whether you're a swimmer, a hiker, or just someone who appreciates picturesque views, I highly recommend Fair Haven State Beach Park. It truly has something for everyone!

One of my favorite beaches and parks. Clean beach nice sand without rocks. Clean water (lake Ontario) you can see the minnows swim around. Sand bar goes on and on before the water gets deep. Dogs not allowed on the beach area. Camping provided. Dogs permitted on leash. Love how you can see the bluffs and the large reef. The reef was under construction when we visited. Lots of shade in the park with beautiful trees. All kinds of nature. Birds deer etcRestrooms: Nice clean restrooms in the beach area showers provided

We only had 1 night here so we didn't get much time to explore. Beach was quiet but it was really nice. Clean campground with lots of friendly people. Bathrooms are clean and easily accessible. Not too much privacy between campsites. We were at campsite 81. But this would be a great place if you are meeting friends and want to share a couple campsites side by side.

100% yes to this park! This is our second time camping here, our first was two years ago when we rented a cabin. We really enjoyed our first time but this time, with a spot right on the water, it was too perfect! The view was just phenomenal and because our spot was the last on the water side, it was very quiet (even though the park was packed). There’s a wonderful beach, hiking trails, wild flowers everywhere AND they will bring firewood to you! Love love love. The only two downfalls (to this site specially) is that the water isn’t swimmable, but that didn’t keep the dogs out… swamp creatures all weekend. The bathrooms were also a hike to get to from this site.

Such a cute little beach in Upstate NY! Great spots for grilling and picnics and lying out on the beach. Water was chilly around 61 degrees during Memorial Day weekend

This is a beautiful state park, absolutely one of the prettiest on Lake Ontario. With the beautiful sand beaches, charming dunes, ample forests, and spectacular bluffs, the scenery is amazing. The park is well maintained and has necessary amenities - changing buildings, showers, snack bar. The beach is staffed with life guards and there are park police keeping an eye on things too. There's plenty of hiking trails, a boat launch, kayak rentals and a scenic pier to walk. This place gets busy on nice summer days and it can be challenging to get a good parking spot, so plan accordingly. The fee to enter is $9 per vehicle. If you have time, make the hike to the nearby bluffs, you won't be disappointed. Wear proper footwear though, and be careful. This place is definitely worth a visit.

426 is one of the best if you are a tent camper. Lots to do if you have kids especially in the summer. Beautiful sunsets and fun little hiking trails. Very nice people. Stayed three nights and had a great time. Also 5 stars to the “Camp” store which is left to the entrance to the park. Awesome prices on firewood and ice. Very friendly service as well. Cash only but there is an ATM on site. (Aka better than anywhere else and good wood!)

Honestly, I like most of New York state parks in general. They are usually very clean and comfortable. You can barbecue, swim, camp and fish(only permitted spots) there. The Park also has a small cafeteria, plenty of restrooms and change rooms. In short, there are everything you need for a family or person to have a nice day. If you are looking for quietness and little bit of peace then I would recommend weekdays. Mostly Monday-Wednesdays are less crowded than Friday-Saturdays. If you are coming on weekends in hot summer times, definitely come early to get your spots.

This place is the most fun and relaxing place I've been. Free boat dock n half the beach is without a lifeguard and you can go far out before it gets dark.Restrooms: Only problem I had was they do not clean those restrooms nearly as much as they should. 1 time in the morning does not cut it.

Beautiful spot, well cared for grounds and beach. Non-electric campsites are great; good size, well kept, and don't feel cramped. Bathroom/shower facilities are as expected for a camp ground, but surprisingly showers did have plenty of hot water. Playgrounds are well kept and safe for the kiddos.

Went on 3/6/22, the first 70° day of the year. It was fun to watch the giant waves crash against the ice shelves. A little disconcerting to see how many people were walking on them, or letting their children do so. The waves were really battering the ice banks, probably eroding underneath them where we can't see... I'd advise staying off of them like the signs say... that is unless you enjoy falling through ice and being smashed to a pulp. To each each own lolReview update: Still going as much as possible. Water was clear 6/15/22. Stumbled on a ground bird nest near the dunes. Watch your step and listen to little birds that are yelling at you, you're probably getting close to their nests.Update 5/11/23- We went the end of April and were able to catch a beautiful sunset on a 70° day (got a beautiful time lapse) There were people swimming, however I don't think the life guards were working yet.Google prompted update 8/23/23- still and always has been a great place to go. Only ever visited the beach as children, now we go down the way a but and find a tree to sit under to play games and find cool rocks. The sunset is always great in its own way and sometimes you see fireworks.

Updated May 31 2021-In the past I did a review for a camping site. This is an update of a cabin site. This is my experience with cabin #21. Amenities vary from cabin to cabin. Ranging from rustic, without heat, to having a stove and a refrigerator. Be mindful when booking your cabin if you have specific needs.Cabin 21: (see photos)The back of the cabin faces the road, creating a more private experienceRefrigeratorElectric Baseboard Heat2 sets of bunk beds. One set of single beds, one with single on top and full size on the bottom.2 ceiling fans, one on each side of the cabin, with their own control to adjust on/off and fan speed.Built in table/counterSeveral light fixtures. 1 on the wall by the table, one near each bed, and one on the ceiling on each side of the cabin. Each with its own switchSeveral electrical outlets, many with USB ports.Large, secluded outdoor area with fire ringThe cabin is listed as handicapped accessible, and it does have a ramp, but a person with mobility issues may still have difficulty. The beds (even the lower bunk) are a big high off the floor, and the walk to the restrooms is not paved and is uneven.*********If you are looking to enjoy nature in a well kept friendly atmosphere, you need to look no further than Fair Haven Beach State Park, nestled on the shores of Little Sodus Bay, Lake Ontario. Our campsite was well groomed. Milkweed lined the back of the site, which invited Monarch butterflies. The pond on the grounds is home to several swans and we had the pleasure of viewing a swan family with cygnets. The trails are easy to hike to people of little to moderate hiking experience. Probably not much of a challenge to more experienced hikers. We stayed at campsite 55, which was listed as full shade, but in reality it has a good mix of sun and shade. Electric is available at this site, but not all sites have electric.Nice beach, with lifeguards and well kept, clean beach house/shower. Be sure to go down to the beach area at day's end for an unforgettable sunset experience.

Great time camping for the weekend , Lakeview sites. Beautiful beach with many things around to do , from fishing to kayaks to relaxing on the beach. The facilities are updates and fantastic . Very scenic area and the town of Fair Haven has some great shops as well ! Worth the trip. $9 per day if headed into the beach for the day. Please Note : The Lakeview Site bathrooms near the playground have only 2 working bathroom/shower stalls , 2 are continuing to be remodeled.

Pretty beach area with a nice pier/walkway, well-kept bath houses and a reasonably priced snack bar. The beach area isn't huge but it's clean and my kids had a great time! The camping area is clean and the sites are beautiful. There are some nice walking/hiking trails too and a good place for kayaking.

It was rather cold to swim (71 F water temperature) but the beach is beautiful with amazing sand! There is a wave breaker that makes an amazing walk. Showers and bathrooms and lots of parking available too.

My friends and our families come to this place once a year for a long weekend s. It's beautiful. I would recommend, if you have a large group, try and keep your group night fires away from any other cabins that might be housing un-related guests. We did get a visit from "security" reminding us of quiet hours...and we were not being that loud.

This is always a fun park to visit - beaches are fantastic, and really feels like you are at an ocean (without the salt) since the lake is as large as it is. Camping is available, a snack bar, plenty of bathrooms and changing areas.

The non-electric campsites are very secluded, flat, and quiet; I was pleasantly surprised. I did look at the electric camp sites, and they seem noisier, packed, and busier. I would suggest a non-electric campsite if you can self-sustain.The park itself is very nice. Lots of amenities; sandy beach with swimming, cabins, cottages, camp store, cafe, boating, and more. My only real complaint about the camp itself is that the dumpsters for the Drumlin Loop (non-electric) are in a really stupid spot, they should be near the dump station. The staff in the office, and the staff at the gates, aren't quite as friendly or accomodating as other state parks I've stayed at. My daughter wasn't camping with us or staying for more than 10 minutes, but we had her run us some supplies from home during a thunderstorm. She had her 1 year old baby with her, during a thunderstorm, and they wouldn't let her into the park without paying the day use fee of $9. They suggested she go into the office and register the vehicle as camping with us to avoid the fee, but that was really stupid to suggest a newborn mother to walk to the office with her baby during a thunderstorm and pouring rain. She tried reasoning with the gate keeper, but he just kept repeating "pay me $9" over and over. I know policies are policies, but sometimes an employee needs to use their discretion (and their brain) and do what's best. Also she only brought $8 with her because their website, phone recording, says the fee is $8 but when you get there, a small sign says the fee is $9.All in all, it's a great park to camp at, I highly recommend it. Just don't expect to get any visitors to your camp site. I stayed at Selkirk Shores state park a few days prior to coming here, and they had no problems at all with letting visitors in, and didn't charge any fees. The people there are a bit older and wiser though, not teenage kids that can't think for themselves. 😆
