I brought in two cats to be neutered. They were both brought in an a carrier and because they were not too clean the lady let me use two of their carriers while I took Mine back home to clean out. When I went to pick them up the lady explained to me that the one cat had marks on his neck which was from a catfight from the trailer that he lived in. he was underweight and actually very ill. The lady said that they would be more than happy to take the cat, get it well and feed it properly. And then they would be able to place it in a home where there would be no cats to attack it. I called the owner of the cat and explained the situation and although the lady was very sad to give up the cat she realized that the male cat needed to be in a different home and agreed to let it go. The lady at the Animal Care Council gave the owner a bag of food in compensation for letting them have the cat. The lady at the animal care did not charge the owner because the owner was poor. The whole staff at Animal Care Council is above reproach. They are a caring group of people who truly have their cats and our cats in the foremost of pet care. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Adopting our favorite cat was super easy and affordable! Rocco is an absolute sweetheart and is very playful, loving, and patient. Had him for almost a year now! I try to catch a picture of him sitting way up top on the cat tree like he used to at the council but omg he runs right towards me for belly rubs when I pull out any phone he loves his belly rubs! He's also learning to love his dry wash, play with the hamster very sweetly, and sit down for a treat! (When he wants to LOL😅)Isabella and Christian

Recently scheduled for my cat to be spayed. The office was very accommodating for us! Friendly & patient staff. We were able to drop off and pick up our cat the same day. And she is recovering very well.

They go above and beyond for cats and their families. We've had many cats spayed or neutered here over the years. They are one of the most reasonably priced places in the area and worth the wait.

Best place to go when needing help, assistance with either adopting, fixing/neutering, or surrendering a pet! I love animal care council bc they find foster homes before taking in a batch of kittens or any pet. So your surrendered pet will not be tossed into a cage for weeks until a foster is found. I also love them because they help financially. When you are struggling, they will work with you!

Amazing place! Super friendly staff and helped me find my new friend. Super on top of everything. In my opinion best shelter in the area

Very professional shelter. I adopted 2 cats, Marlo and Arlan. They are the best cats I've had. Couldn't be any happier. They are healthy and up to date on their shots. They give you a goodie bag that the cats love (home made toys and a small blanket that smells like the shelter) that helps the cats accommodate the new atmosphere. They give you plenty of time to spend with the cats before adoption to make sure you are getting the cat you are looking for. Very happy, and on top of that I am not lonely anymore! Thank you so much.

They really care about cats and are very knowledgeable about their care. Very clean and doesn't smell, which is different than other places I've been too. Easy to volunteer with and easy to get to.

I took my kitten to this place to have her fixed. The vet they use in their facility was AWFUL and has had countless foul complaints (Dr. Jon Obre, check out his 1 star reviews, if you care about your fur baby do NOT take them to this vet, several pets have died because of his neglect and malpractice). When I called Animal Care to express that I'm reporting the vet to the Veterinary Board to get his license taken away after his foul servicing and neglect, the manager at Animal Care seemed more concerned about their building closing if the vet loses his license, than my kitten who passed away days after the vet worked on her, and tried to talk me out of reporting him. I've also spread the word to people to NOT take their cat there and NOT have Dr. Obre work on them, do NOT go to Animal Care Council, they support this horrid vet and your cat could suffer the same result and fate as ours did.

The care council is a small team doing a wonderful job of helping people take care of their cats. I had a wild pregnant cat give birth in my garage last year. I was able to bring all her kittens to animal care council (after 6 months) to get them spayed, neutered and rabies shots. I really appreciate the work they do.

I had a very nice experience here! The employees and volunteers were happy to show me around and introduce me to all the cats. After the initial walkthrough, I was allowed to mingle among the cats at my leisure. They all seemed very well taken care of, with plenty of food, water, toys, and space to rest and play. The application process was quick and easy. I plan on coming back soon to adopt my new pet — I just need to pick up some cat supplies first!

To the lady who claimed it was filthy and smelled, I volunteered there one summer, they are very thorough with their cleaning, you try to keep the place fresh smelling with all those cats! This place is great, the workers care about all the cats as if they were their own and if I were a stray, I'd thank my lucky stars if I ended up there, these people LOVE what they do. There are a few older people working there who could be friendlier, but I realize it's a high stress environment. The only down side I see is that sometimes the people working there become too fond of some of the cats and do not want to adopt them out but honestly, like I said, this place is cat heaven! Keep up the great work, and thank you for providing spay/neuter services at affordable prices!

We got our cat here and this is by far the cleanest shelter that we saw and all animals are taken good care of. We were able to take our cat home the same day that we came in after they checked our information. All cats are treated when they are brought in and are up to date in all vaccines. You get the records of the cat's medical treatments and vaccines. Staff is amazing. I would not go back to any other shelter that we went to.

We had our rescue kitty spayed here. I called and left a message on their answering service and got a call back (on a weekend!) very promptly. Drop off & pickup was convenient, our kitty is doing very well so far, and the price was unbelievable. My vet quoted me between $450 and $780 to do it and ACC got it done for under $100. Please consider donating to this shelter and spay/neuter clinic. I was able to donate and STILL pay not even half of the lowest quote from my vet. Thank you to this amazing organization for all that you do!

This facility is amazing! The cats & Kittens are so well cared for. So many different cat personalities to choose from ~ They all need loving homes. EJ does a great job keeping the place clean & hygienic. I love volunteering there. They have a great spay & Neuter program, very reasonably priced. Check The Animal Care Council out for you next cat or kitten - you will be glad you did!

The older lady who works in here is SO rude everytime we come in we dont feel welcome nor do we stay to look at the cats for very long she breathes down our neck while we look at any cats. And talks to us like we are stupid yells not to touch the kittens. She was more concerned about her pointless conversation with another woman than to answer our question about the spay and neuter program. The younger girl who was there working was great. She helped us get an appointment set up for our kitten. Get people who are more welcoming and more cats/kittens will be adopted out..

We have rescued kittens from the street that are born from feral mothers who will not care for them. I can't say enough about the Animal Care Council and how much they care about animals in general, and offering discounted spay or neutering 4 cats and kittens to keep the exploding population in our area to a minimum. We are always treated with respect at the Animal Care Council when rescuing, or just gathering cat off the street that needs to be spayed or neutered and then re-released.

The best cat shelter in Broome County. The people are down to earth, and put the needs of the cats before their own agendas. They have hours where the public can go to pet the cats, and see if they want to adopt. So many great cats up for adoption downstairs, and UPSTAIRS! The upstairs cats need some more attention, but are loving cats who deserve a good home.

This no kill cat shelter has a great staff and takes amazing care of the animals in their shelter. They also have a low cost spray and neuter clinic my family has used several times. On street parking. Limited hours.

All the people who work here are volunteers. They do as much as they can for these cats. I have previously volunteered here to get involved with the community and see what the place was like. They always take care of the animals. They give them the medicine that they need, the make sure their food and water bowls are always filled and they play with the animals. Their are toys all over. The cats aren't in tiny cages but large fenced off areas where they can play together. The cats even take turns roaming the building. The cats love it there. I'm proud to say that we have a place like this in Endicott.

Great shelter for cats and kittens. They are loved and cared for. The cats have so much room to run free. The woman that runs it is terrific.

The Animal Care Council shelter for cats is a sanctuary for both felines and humans. I live in Massachusetts and have adopted both my cats here while visiting family (adoption fees are very expensive here) and have stopped in a few times to make donations and play with the cats. Every time I have been here the staff is very friendly and their doors are open to those who want to adopt or simply enjoy spending time with cats.I adopted Marty in June 2018 and Maggie in December 2017 and both have made wonderful companions and pets for my husband and me. The veterinarians commented on how healthy and calm both cats were at their post-adoption checkups. Both Maggie and Marty were under a year old and well taken care of and easily adjusted to their new home. I believe many of the cats are well socialized at this shelter as they get a lot of interaction with both people and other cats.WANT TO ADOPT - TIPS?*Make sure to bring a pet carrier with a towel with you* Bring cash – shelter only accepts cash* Cat essentials: LITTER BOX, CAT SCRATCHER, FOOD & WATER –You can quickly purchase a litter box with a scoop and scratch cardboard at the Dollar tree until you find exactly what works for you. I recommend the IRIS Open Top Cat Litter Box and a washable Drymate Cat Litter Mat (to prevent litter scatter and Target’s Cat Wave Scratcher by Boots & Barkley* Cat Questions: You can always call shelter if you have any questions or concerns post adoption – Pam was very helpful to me when I first got Maggie, answering questions about food, behavior etc. However there is TONS of information on the web about any questions you have about your cat and their behavior.Recommended Books: Jackson Galaxy’s Total Cat Mojo and ASPCA Complete Guide to Cats* Take your time with the cats and choose carefully and take into consideration your lifestyle, things such as children in the house, other cats, dogs, are you gone for most of the day?*Have a vet ready, Animal care council has list of recommended vets if you don’t have one, I was nervous first time pet owner and signed up for a plan at Banfield Pet Hospital inside Pet Smart, this includes unlimited office visits, all shots, 2 checkups and some testing and it has paid for itselfWANT TO VISIT THE KITTIES?If you want to come in and visit and play with the cats consider bringing in an item to donate, you can check out their wish list on the website under Donate you’d be surprised what you might have at home, paper towels, plastic baggies, or even some towels you were going to donate anyways.I highly recommend this shelter, the cats well cared for and are given adequate space, staff is friendly and adoption fees are inexpensive. Here in Massachusetts kitten adoption costs between $175- $275 and adults $150 and many of the shelters are only half as good as this.

Took 2 grandkitties for spay and neuter. Covid protocols in place. They are only lacking one star because of lack of handicap accessibility. I'm sure they probably have a solution. In at 8am and pickup at 1:30. Very clear instructions. $150 did a girl and a boy. Thinking $60 male and $90 female including rabies shots. Vet is from Candor. Thank you for your service!!!

These mostly volunteer folks provide a great service, finding furever homes for cats in need and offering spaying and neutering services for those who need an affordable alternative. They are also a good resource if you have lost your pet - their Facebook page is a great place to post a pic of your lost or strayed furry friend!

A friend and I had went there frequently a long time ago to help out but not volunteer. I got a white cat with a mark on his head after a few months of seeing them all because it was right thing to do, so why not. Unfortunately the feline leukemia got to him, rip Micah. I just hope it's run by caring people now as when I went there. I also hope people are still donating to help these guys have a good temp home b4 going to their furever home...
