Amazing place to adopt. The staff are warm, friendly and knowledgeable. You can tell how much they care for all of the dogs, cats, puppies and kittens. The whole facility is sparkling clean. They went over all of the information on best practices in transitioning your new family member(s), and are very willing to answer all questions. We adopted Benson and Captain and love them so much already. Definitely come to Paws Crossed Animal Rescue.

Initially, I was really pleased with Paws Crossed when we adopted our kitten from them in 2021. The process was smooth and the employees were extremely helpful and friendly.I'm not so happy with my more recent experience at Paws Crossed. I'm looking to add another dog to the family. In my current household I have 4 cats and a dog. I got pre-approved and emailed with questions about a particular dog and how she would be with cats. They cat tested her the next day and she did great, they tested another dog as well who also did fine. I went down there the following weekend only to find out the initial dog I was interested in was being adopted. I wasted an hour drive, but I get it, first come first serve.I emailed the following week about another dog. I was told she had a similar temperament and they could cat test her for me. They mentioned they thought it was going to go well since she's pretty laid back. I didn't get a response so I followed up. This person I haven't communicated with, Tempestt then replies to the email thread telling me they don't cat test the dogs there. How can that be when the other dogs were cat tested by a different employee? What's even more bothersome is many of the dogs on their website are listed as "cat friendly" when clearly this is false information, after all, supposedly they don't cat test there. I understand seeing how a dog reacts within a few minutes to cats is not a foolproof way of finding out and nothing is guarantee, but it certainly rules out dogs with strong prey drives or dogs that get too over-stimulated. The last thing I'd ever want to do is return an animal to a shelter. I also don't want to put my own pets at risk gambling with a dog that I have no indication of their behavior just being in the presence of a cat.I'm very disappointed in this shelter, especially after my great initial first experience. I do not recommend adopting a dog from this shelter if you have cats in your household. Adopting out a dog listed as cat friendly to a cat inclusive household without confirmation of their "cat friendly" behavior is extremely irresponsible and dangerous. For the safety of my pets, I will be adopting elsewhere.

I went to paws crossed very recently. Initially the experience was great. We were able to see the entire collection of cats/dogs they had there after completing an application. Sue and another girl who’s name I can’t remember but had green hair were more then helpful, polite and friendly. They did everything they could to help get me approved as soon as possible and on the spot. Now the adoption process is on a first come first serve basis, which is well understood. After selecting a cat of our preference we stood in the room waiting with this particular cat. We were told that we could wait in the room with him as our application was getting processed. Here is where things took a turn. We were essentially kicked out of the room by Temist. We were told the cat was overwhelmed and uncomfortable, mind you the cat was purring with us and sleeping with us, but we did as were told and left the room. We then scrambled to get references on the phone (no more then 5-10 minutes). As we’re on the phone with references we were again told by Temist that the cat now belonged to somebody else. Again, I understand first come first serve basis and maybe our application was not submitted before someone else’s. Now I work in a profession where giving tough news to people is all about delivery. The conversation went something like “hey are you interested in “this cat”, to which the answer was yes. Then a two hand slap to the table and a point to another family and a “well they are going with someone else”. A simple sorry, however someone else’s application was processed before yours would have been more then enough. I want to reiterate that the issue is not with the news, more so the delivery of this news. I also again want to highlight the people that did help us, as they were understanding and helpful so HUGE thank you to those individuals. Unfortunately, I would not go back to be adopting here. I, in no way, want to discourage anybody from adopting, but I do want to express my experience here.

Paws Crossed Animal Shelter provides a remarkably clean and inviting environment. The facility's well-maintained spaces reflect their commitment to animal welfare and the staff is consistently welcoming, creating a positive atmosphere for potential adopters. I adopted two cats from Paws Crossed (one year apart), and the entire process was always so smooth and enjoyable. It's evident that the shelter prioritizes the well-being of both animals and adopters. Highly recommended for those seeking a caring and friendly environment to find their new furry companions!

Was here a few months ago and I wanted to bring everyone home with me. :( The animals are clearly well loved and well taken care of, and the staff genuinely loves their babies. I can only extend my most sincere thanks for everyone at the shelter for doing God's work with these poor animals. The facility is clean and well taken care of and the animals looked healthy and well looked after. Kudos to all of you.

Excited to see the Newly minted Renovation. Same runs for the Dogsonly change was at the RegistrationArea. Dissapointed they couldnt addHeat or A/C. Trying to find a smaller dog then they had, no one approached us the whole time we were there to get our Feedback.

I visited Paws Crossed a few days after Christmas looking to adopt a cat. I was so impressed by the friendliness and professionalism of the entire staff, and also by the cleanliness and size of the actual facility. Sue showed us around and introduced us to Cora (whom I had asked about after seeing her picture on their website!) and I immediately fell in love. Cora was housed in a spacious, clean, and well equipped room with a small number of other cats. Sue provided us with plenty of information about Cora and was incredibly sweet, helpful, and all around wonderful to work with.Once I decided that Cora was the cat for me, I filled out an application up front. Tara immediately got to work calling vet and personal references, and quickly got my application approved. In under an hour, we were on our way home with the newest family member. The rescue sells very reasonably priced new & used pet carriers, beds, and litter boxes, so I was able to get everything I needed to get Cora started. Tara helped us pick out these items, and also threw in some toys, a stuffed animal, and a blanket that Cora particularly liked so that she would be more comfortable. A few days later, I had a question about Cora and received a quick response from Tara over e-mail.Overall, I had an amazing experience at Paws Crossed. The entire staff was so kind, and clearly had the best interest of the animals always in mind. I will definitely return to Paws Crossed next time I am looking to adopt! Thank you for running such a wonderful rescue organization - and special thanks to Sue and Tara for helping bring Cora into my life! I love her so much already :)

I'm so happy with my experience with Paws Crossed. They really did make you feel welcome, every staff member was extremely helpful answering every question and going as far as to cat-test a dog for me when I asked them to. They also were EXTREMELY transparent about each dogs medical history providing information which was such a relief because I never felt blindsided at any point. When I mentioned that I was interested in a puppy Ariel was super quick to introduce Pierre to me and from there I fell in love. The actual shelter's set up is really amazing with multiple fenced areas to really see the dog's temperament in an off leash setting. You can tell everyone in the rescue really cares for these animals, especially when I was taking my new baby to the car, everyone congratulated me and really seemed happy that another dog was being adopted. 1000/10, if you are looking to adopt try apply here.

This was absolutely the greatest pet adoption experience I've ever had. Pamela and the entire Paws Crossed team are phenomenal. They care deeply for the animals and are very knowledgable, direct, understanding and helpful throughout the entire adoption process. Thank you so very much for my little Vixen. I'm so in love!

I would leave a 0 if possible. They waste peoples time. Emailed them the details of my pet and set up any appointment. Missed work and when I got there the vet said they couldn’t see my pet due to their age but the age was in the email. Can’t even read English these people, go elsewhere

A great bunch of people. Staff and volunteers alike. We have been looking for a dog for our family and they allowed us to meet and interact with their dogs and puppies. We visited several times and they were happy to let us interact and meet the animals. My new guy is settling in after the shock of coming to our home. I saw how every dog was walked... played with and cared for. A great operation and mission in Westchester county.

I haven't adopted a pup yet but I am REALLY hoping to. By far Paws Crossed has been the best experience I've had with shelters. All the staff seem experienced with the animals and it is lovely to see. The best part for me was that they were extremely quick in reviewing the adoption application and calling all the references. They also allowed us to meet the dogs right away. They are so sweet!!! It has been a very smooth process so far. Hope I will bring home a puppy someday soon...!!

We wanted to adopt a dog for a while and we did a lot of research. We found Paws Crossed on the internet and unlike some other ones they were very approachable. They are taking really good care to the animals in there. Everything is clean and organized. The volunteers and the staff are amazing. They help us a lot when we got Beasley. Gave us all the information and the support we needed as new parents. Beasley is a rescue from a high kill shelter in Georgia. He was brought all the way up here to Westchester. He was really shy and scared when we first saw him. Now he is a happy, friendly and excited dog :) TheThank you Paws Crossed for letting us have little Beasley in our lives. Ever since we got him he brought such joy to our home.

What an AMAZING organization. These dogs are truly loved before their homes are found. In the hours we were here, they were constantly walked, played with, cleaned and CLEARLY loved. I would likeTo give a special shout out to Jenna who spent such incredible time with us. Her patience is a true testimony to her love of her position here! Her kindness, patience, and love of her job is a true testimony to this establishment. Thank you so very much for today’s visit … we will be back for sure!

We adopted a German Shepard mix puppy from here a while ago because my one and a half year old daughter loves dogs and I wanted to get her a new playmate. When I first brought Tortuga home, she instantly barked at the sight of my daughter and scared her greatly. So we kept Tortuga in the other room for a few days so that she would have some time to adjust to the new space and feel more comfortable. Whenever we tried to bring the puppy into the same room as her she would growl and stay back. In the last couple days we had her, I was bringing her outside of the room to leave out the front door and Tortuga lunged at my girl and bit her. And I know that it isn’t the shelters fault because how would they know that the dog would react like this so I brought the pup back to the shelter and requested a refund as I only had her for less than a week. They accepted the request which I really appreciated because I obviously could not keep her after she bit my daughter. Two months have passed and I go back to the shelter looking for a family cat. As soon as I walk into the trailer the employees stop and give me a look. I asked Emily, one of the employees if I could take a look at the available cats and she was very sweet and accommodating. Another one of the employees came up to me while I was taking a look and told me that they would not be able to approve my application just because it didn’t work out with Tortuga. I think that’s extremely unfair and unprofessional as it broke my heart to return the dog but had to to keep my daughter safe and out of harms way.

I feel like they no very minimum/ if anything about their dogs & its a real disadvantage for their animals. Like every question was a vague response. Compared to other shelters doesnt seem like they really try to get to know and understand and even connect with their animals. Very poor experience - was expecting better!

Terrible !!! Zero communication skills. I walk in filled out all paperwork and waited 2 months for response and received nothing. When we went back they straight lied to us saying they call and emailed, non of which happened. After that I witness another gentleman come in, watch as they lied to him about a dog. They had already adopted that dog out and this man spent time and money preparing his home for the dog not to mention he had to break his kids hearts. They didn't even apologize for anything. This is not how any respectful place of business operates. They totally disregard any responsibility. If they are so willing to lie to people ......what are they doing to the dogs. Remember dogs can't tell you what's happening behind closed doors 🤔
