SHOUT OUT TO MY GUY RICH!!! I recently found this place and I love the friendly welcoming vibe the shop has. Rich knows his fish and the tanks are well kept as well as all the animals there. I’d recommend anyone who has reptiles or fish to make this there stop!!!

I recently acquired a fish tank from a friend who was moving away. I have absolutely no experience with fish, but thought it would be a fun hobby for my toddler. We are loving our fish tank, and this fish shop is a huge reason why, I can’t speak highly enough about the crew at A&R! They have been so helpful and patient with teaching me how to care for my tank. When we sadly lost a fish, they worked with me to test the alkaline levels of my tank and taught me how to do a water change so I could get back on track. They obviously care so much about their animals and their customers.BUT, the best part about A&R is how absolutely wonderful they are when I come in with my daughter. My two year old is obsessed with the fish, and they completely indulge her curiosities. They let her touch the snakes, they let her watch as they feed the lizards, they show her beetles and turtles and all sorts of amazing things. It’s always an adventure when we visit. I wish I could buy a new fish every week just so we could visit and support this business! We might end up with a full aquarium before we know it!

Absolutely wonderful store, so glad this place opened. It easily has the best assortment of freshwater fish and reptiles in Westchester, all for really fair prices. They also carry a lot of the reptile/aquarium essentials, likes tanks, heaters, sand/rocks, lizard hammocks, food (live bugs, frozen fish food, etc) and more. Additionally, they also design premade terrariums where you can buy one all set up and ready to go. Which admittedly I usually love building my own, but I know for some that can be an intimidating prospect, so being able to buy one set up straight from them is really handy. Definitely recommend giving this place a visit.

I cannot say enough about A & R! This store is unparalleled when it comes to reptile quality and care. I just bought a bearded dragon who I named Caspian, and I couldn't be more happy! He is super healthy and happy, as with the rest of the animals in the store! Rich and his team take excellent care of their reptiles and keep the store super clean and neat. The prices are super reasonable too. I will for sure be back for dubia roaches and look forward to visiting again.

I don’t care if I help out and what not with the store but I’m gonna still recommend Richie to anyone he has great Selection and quality he is always there and everyone is always around to help and I’m sorry y’all but if y’all find prices might be a little high your guys probably shouldn’t be in the hobby, and people are always around to help and if you guys don’t come up to someone don’t be surprised that they don’t know what your thinking and that you want help that goes with and retail stores. and even then Richie might give you a little deal if you play your cards right every now and then❗️ Love your place Richie❤️ P.S. they also do bioactive terrariums with a background if you bring a tank!

This is the cleanest reptile store I've ever visited around the tristate NY, NJ and CT area. The price is right - we came for snake food. The selection is good.The mom n' pop feel of the shop had me, my hubby & child at hello. My child met another employee's child there and they started naming all the serpentines. I definitely prefer this shop over other dim, smelly reptile shops or chain pet stores.

Found this store online and went in yesterday for the first time. Great staff and Rich was super helpful and friendly. Got IN STOCK dubia which is hard to find locally and they board pets as well. Will be coming back thank you!

As a keeper of reptiles and invertebrates I’m always searching for shops that actually have a nice selection. In my area we have to wait for the Expo.Was excited to check this place out until we actually went in.When my son and I went into the back area to look for geckos and T’s an employee followed us. He leaned against the wall with arms folded and just kept an eye on us. I kept glancing over and asked if we were in his way and he said no.My son is extremely educated in not only how to behave in public but also how to stay calm around animals and not touch a thing. He’s not a little kid either.I’m not sure if this is in a bad area and this is common practice for them or if we were targeted for some reason. Makes for a very uncomfortable browsing experience. Instead of seeing what else they had we just made a quick exit and will not be back. Nor will I be recommending this place to my fellow reptile collectors.There was also a candle burning in the room. Which, reptile and invert hobbyists normally avoid. Tarantulas especially can get DKS which is usually a death sentence.

I always get feeders for my beardie and praying mantis from here. It sure beats petco or petsmart in freshness and price. There is a closer petsmart, but I make the trip up to Elmsford just to get my pets their food from here. They're very knowledgeable about caring for reptiles and other more exotic pets and I know my pets are healthier for getting there food from here. The peace of mind I get from knowing I can get my pets healthy feeders is worth the 40 min round trip drive I have to make to get here. I highly recommend this store!

Stumbled on this place while in tarrytown. A worker i think named John showed me my brother and my mom all the geckos and different lizards they have. He spoke with us for an hour and answered every question we had. Great selction of animals and always willing to help. Great pet store, Will def be back in the future.

I buy all my fish and reptile supplies from A&R.They are very helpful and knowledgeable about everything I’ve ever needed help with. I highly recommend this store to anyone looking for fish or reptiles.

Got my 1st ever baby red bearded dragon here! Richie the owner is very friendly and knowledgeable and will happily answer any questions u may have! You can really feel this man’s passion and enthusiasm for his animals! I bought a Zilla Basic Starter Kit Tank and baby crickets and baby Dubia roaches as well. I am super satisfied with all my purchases! The owner just opened this past June so if u live in Westchester, definitely bring the entire family and come check out his beautiful collection of reptiles and aquarium fishes - and tell a friend! :)

I stopped into A&R with my seven-year-old son Bryan to look at their fish collection. We were impressed with their aquariums, but even more so with all of the reptiles they have. My son was fascinated with the whole place and the way everything was displayed. He took a particular interest in the ball python snakes. After returning to the store a few times over the next couple of weeks to see if his interest was maintained, we decided to get a baby ball python. Richie and his staff are very knowledgeable, competent, and a pleasure to talk with. One of his staff members John was particularly helpful and went to great lengths teaching and advising us about the snakes.There is such a wonderful vibe in the store, both with the employees and the customers that come in. Being there is an experience that my son and I really enjoy and will remember. We will be regular visitors because there is always something new going on and it feels great to be there.Update to my previous review:This is June 24, 2023, and today we purchased a beautiful spider morph ball python. My son Bryan is absolutely in love with his new snake, and of course all the staff at A&R were amazing in helping us. They’re expanding the store now, so they will have room for more wonderful things.

Richie's shop is one of the best in NY hands down. His animal care is exemplary and he has the most reasonable prices in town. I come here to buy toothless my bearded dragon his dubia roaches and earthworms for my African clawed frogs chicken and waffles. His staff are all friendly along with being passionate about the animals he cares for. I just bought dwarf crayfish and ghost shrimp for my planted tank.

I've only gone a couple of times since I'm from out of town. I visit with my friend when I'm visiting, and I totally understand why this place is her go to spot for fish and aquarium supplies. The owner is super friendly, very knowledgeable, and a fun guy to have a chat with. Fish are always healthy and happy, and the whole store is very well maintained.

I am so grateful I found this gem of a store! Everyone here is so caring and helpful, the animals get amazing care, and the supplies and feeders are the best quality! I truly can't thank them enough and look forward to everytime I come here. I get things for my gecko, my spider, and even my beetle! This place is truly the best!

This store is an absolute gem. Richie and his staff John are extremely knowledgeable and took the time to educate and have fun with us. My 10-year old daughter was dead set to get a leopard gecko but after speaking with Richie, settled on a crested gecko as it is better suited to our lifestyle. There are reptiles that are NFS (not for sale), because they are Richie’s personal collection or are used for breeding. Richie and his staff are so passionate and I am happy to be able to support a small business.

The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable! They were able to bring in some freshwater fish I was specifically looking for which was really above & beyond. My fish are healthy and beautiful and doing great in my tanks so far. It's clear that they really care about the animals and that their welfare is the #1 priority. Will definitely be going back to A&R for my supplies and animals.

Awesome place! Small store, but packed with everything you need. I have purchased a bunch of awesome fish there. If they don't have it. They can get it! Very knowledgeable staff. Great service. I highly recommend this place for any of your aquarium and reptile needs.

Got referred here by our fish tank guy, Aquariums by Anthony (also recommend), and could not have been more pleased. The owner, Richie, is extremely nice and knows his reptiles and fish. We are novice fish owners and Richie was able to help us find exactly what we were looking for and what would "play nice" with the fish we already have. He also can special order fish he isn't keeping in stock. He is a gecko breeder and clearly has a passion for what he does, even though we were not there for his reptiles he was happy to show us and educate us, we learned a lot and might consider geckos in our future. We'll definitely be back, he's now our fish supply guy. Plus the place is clean and doesn't smell like many pet/aquarium stores!

This place is awesome. EJ was super nice and helpful. I drove over an hour and it was so worth it. Some super cool geckos and lizards. Plenty of fish. All the supplies. I just went to check it out and I’m glad I did. Place is clean and the reptiles all look healthy. Definitely going back.
