I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the Lakeshore Humane Society. Just the other day I came into look at cats. I left with a 2 year old black cat named “Moody”, now re-named Glen! I had such a wonderful experience at this place. The lady that helped me out was extremely patient with me, as it took me almost two hours to decide on a cat. they let me see all of them, and play with them, and take them into a separate room where i could better see their personalities.they let me borrow a carrier to take the cat home in, they sent me with food, and all of his proper paperwork. the man that was caring for my cat at the shelter took such great care of him, and he was so happy to see the cat find a home. my cat was well loved there and i would absolutely donate and adopt from there again.(We had a welcome home party for him, he is such an amazing cat)

I adopted a cat in this place and the lady who manages the animal adoptions never told me that the cat we adopted had cancer in one of his kidneys. Our Milo lived with us for 6 months before he needed to put to sleep because he was dying due to the cyst in his kidney. He was suffering and we as a family , my kids suffered for him because we loved him. Its not fair that they hide this from us . You don't do that , it is unacceptable.Its all about the money!

I am very disappointed in this non-profit organization. Their adoption procedure is unbelievably unorganized and unacceptable.Lakeshore Human Society received a dog that they were not supposed to receive. They were in contact with the breeder of the dog which was supposed to get it back if the owner did not want the dog but instead, it ended up in the shelter. The breeder advised the Society who they would like the dog to go to but instead, they did the opposite. Not only did they ignore the breeder they ignored phone calls and no call backs when messages were left. Their excuse is they are only volunteers. Isn’t that part of volunteering and your job? I understand not calling back same day, but still 5 days later no call back??I have heard a lot of complaints regarding this organization, and I am not sure why it’s still up and running and they are still taking in animals. I truly feel bad for these animals that are in this shelter. They all deserve a special home and taken care of. They should not be treated like puppets and prizes to bring in more money for the shelter.

The Lakeshore Humane Society is amazing! We adopted our cat Luno from them just over a year ago. They are pleasant, take amazing care of their animals, and have the best of the best volunteers to help supporters and animals. The facility is spotless, sanitary, pets are not crammed and look happy and healthy. You can tell there is a lot of love that went into the creating of the newer building and you can tell their goal is to keep the love alive. Thank you for all you do!

Great experience. Great prices. Owners processed my adoption application right away and contacted my references same day and called me and gave me their cell. Organized things around my schedule. Can't say enough good things.

I rescued my three year old border collie/ husky mix from them about two years ago, (was named Duke, now named Renley) It was easily one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. The adoption process was so easy and being from Canada the only way I could talk to them was by phone or email which they got back to me RIGHT away when I had questions. The time and care they put into Renley was amazing, thy sent me home with a care package for him and they were some of the nicest and kindest people I’ve ever met. I can’t thank them enough for giving my boy a better start to life, and for being as amazing as they are and taking such great care of animals in need like they do!! LHS is a great organization that i have been volunteering at for two and a half years, and also have adopted my cat from. From both sides of it, volunteering and adopting, i couldnt be happier being involved with a great group of people who are all strictly volunteers, and put a lot of time and effort into making sure the animals are loved, and find a safe and happy home!

Please go and adopt a kitty or dog. Adopt don't shop. These animals need fur-ever homes. Adoption fees are exceptionally reasonable, the volunteers I don't think could ever get enough credit, the animals (pets) are exceptionally friendly and can't wait to have a home of their own. And they offer other services.

The Lakeshore Humane Society is a wonderful facility. The Volunteers are friendly and compassionate and take excellent care of the animals. I am proud to be a volunteer and love helping our animals find their forever homes.

I love this humane society and the way they treat their animals. I’m from out of town but always pop in to visit, donate a little and cuddle some of the animals. Everyone is so kind and knowledgeable. It shows that they truly love and care for each animal there ❤️

Upon submitting our applications my daughter and I were told by Joanne Benthem ~ "Officer" that if we were unwilling to comply with their "mandatory tetanus shot policy" requiring me to go get a tetanus shot that we cannot volunteer there. I asked other people I know who volunteer there currently and they received no such requirement!

Everyone there is so nice and helpful. I love that they're all volunteers so, you know they WANT to be there. The animals are well loved and cared for. These people really love what they do and it shows!

I have never gotten an animal from a shelter but thought i would give it a try and give a good home to an animal in need but this place is a joke the volunteers are great in talking to but over all not happy with the "business" as a whole.... i have a good sized yard a very large home (owned not rented) and yet was denied because they didn't like my fence, what does the fence matter when the dog will be on leash to do his business as well as with the family on our daily walks... Do they expect people to just put a dog outside and leave it there?? last time i looked there is a leash law and yes having a fully fenced in yard with a 10 foot high fence would b fine to let a dog run wild in but to not have the forethought to say maybe the dog will not b left to run wild by a family that cares for him, but nope just a text message ( yes not even a call) saying your not approved.....

It's a great place for pets that you can not take care anymore or a forward or if you have too many O them I just took 5 of my cats the I could not take care of in afford any more to them today And they are a no kill shelter

I would like to give them a five star but I can't after finding them in 3 lies . Sadly they lie about there fur animals to get them adopted out faster they will even tell a sad sobing story if they feel it will help

They miss inform people and add their own words to the animals.i just witness this the dog they have now zaylee only had 1 litter of puppies and was not used as a puppy mill i know the previous owner.

we went to adopt a dog here, had the form filled out and everything, called us to tell us the dog was ours, then an hour later called again to say they “found someone better”
