Initially my husband and I were planning to stay in the efficiency cabin- arriving on Sept. 10 and leaving on the 12th. We so fell in love with it, so we extended our stay by a day...and then another. The cabin is cozy and clean, the campground itself has much to do for entertainment, even offering WiFi & and many outdoor activities. The new owners are spectacular, so friendly and accommodating, and obviously making great strides in improving the campground after acquiring this year. We had a wonderful time and definitely will return! Thank you, Schroon River RV Resort & Campground!

Stayed here a few weeks ago we rented a cabin for the whole week. Like most people have said the owners are very friendly, however, the pool was closed there were no activities for children and the whole place was a bit run down. I understand that the "Resort" is under new ownership but it was not fair to us who paid the full price of renting a cabin and not having any amenities that were listed on the site. Others have mentioned getting free wood or smores we were offered nothing. The cabin was not clean there were ants and droppings in the kitchen. I wish I could have written a better review but our family did not enjoy our vacation this year.

We just got home from our four day stay here and it was great! A new owner has taken over and is working extremely hard to turn this place around! The owner greeted us when we came in and gave our group not only s’mores supply’s, but a half pallet of wood for our fire! I will 100% be planning to come back here! The location is great being only 20 minutes from Lake George and the great escape. The pool sadly wasn’t open when we went due to a technical issue out of the owners hands, but it looked refreshing and was very clean! I believe all of the one star reviews may have been from the previous owner so please give this place a chance, let this owner show you what a great campground this is and disregard those 1 star reviews.Rooms: We stayed in the cabins and although the beds were a bit hard they were very clean and surprisingly super spacious, almost like little tiny homes! They came fully stocked with dining ware, and cutlery as well as a microwave, coffee maker, full-sized fridge and stove with pots and pans.Nearby activities: The great escape and lake George are both about a 20 minute delivery away as well as many shops and other family friendly activities.

Website is misleading. We were told the property was newly aquired but thats no excuse for false advertising.Cabin was over priced and looked nothing like the pics on website. Had ants & could have been cleaner. Mattress cover on the bed had dirt on it.The whole place is a little run down.Playground is very old & outdated.Wifi didn't work for the 3 days we were there. The manager asked if we knew how to connect after 5 of us tried connecting 8 different devices including their tv.No bands/entertainment as advertised on website. We wanted to leave bc we were so unhappy. My son was so excited and this was a complete let down. After explaining all the disappointment my husband had to argue w the manager to get out of the reservation a day early.2 small dirt beaches were ok.Gas grill & fire pit were nice.Rooms: Cabin wasn't as nice as the 1 pictured on the website.

Overall terrible. Not many people there, prices are cheaper than most but for good reason. Mosquitoes were horrific, the check in person who was nice said they were going to spray for Mosquitoes next week, the cable didn't work, the cable guy was coming next week, the entertainment room was closed they were remodeling and let me add the maintenance/ construction crew was cutting metal roofing at 7 a.m. talk about a rude awaking. We were put next to tbe restroom and shower, but were told not to use them because they were filthy and rundown, they were. Even the "updated" showers were nasty. I found a dead from in my shower. The Wi-Fi I paid for didn't work...nothing to do there unlike the place down the road which was beaming with activity. Never again. I hope you read these I'd like my money back for my lot and the Wi-Fi that didn't work. We left a day early because it was that bad. The caretaker was super nice and helpful but the place is sub par.

I stayed here last weekend and it was the same day new owners took it over. I could see the place was alittle run down but they were already making it better thoughout the weekend. It was first come first pick for sites but the reservations made that pretty clear so i was expecting that. I look forward to the improvements and would come back.

The owners and very friendly and accommodating. We stayed in a cabin that was very well kept and in a great location. I would definitely go back however the wifi is terrible and does cost extra. Definitely a great place to stay despite the wifi and cell service.Nearby activities: The pool was closed when we went in July but the resort was under renovation by new ownership.

By far the biggest waste of money and worst campground we have ever stayed at. The camp map shows restrooms on the lower level of campground. There are none. Paid $40 for wood to wait an hour plus for delivery for it to be unseasoned, wet, carpenter ant larvae infested wood. Memorial Day weekend and pool didn’t even have water in it. Hours of store, and I use that term loosely as they didn’t carry much, are posted on door but never opened on time. Waited outside with 3 other campers for immediate attention for longer than 40 minutes. Owners were a no show. Left everything up to their scapegoat Debbie-who truly did her best with the tools she had, which were minimal. Website showed that the campground offered pump out service for trailers by the river without sewer hook up. Not true! They offer a tote, for camper use, to be used to pump out own trailer. There is a cable at each site to have cable, doesn’t work. Wifi available- but you have to pay for it in addition to site fee and doesn’t have a decent signal down by river so it’s a waste of money. We paid $200 for 3 nights on a holiday weekend. With nothing but a playground for children. Oh, our picnic table was broken. They did bring us a better one. The ONLY positive BESIDES their managers really trying. Debbie and Joe tried. They were the messengers of shady owners. And I have pictures of hundreds of nails found buried near our fire ring. Only reason we dug around is because several were sticking out of ground. Once we started picking them up more kept surfacing. Huge nails. Easily could puncture a shoe.

Not even worth 1 star! I’m NOT the type of person to post negative reviews about any business. But I feel obligated to share my experience. We booked a campsite at this facility under the impression that we were choosing the site we wanted to. We later went to check the place out. I’ll be nice and say this wasn’t our cup of tea. We went into the office and we were told we were not going to get the site we booked. It’s on a first come first serve basis. Keep in mind we have a 37 ft travel trailer. We are not going to play that game and be stuck on a site we won’t fit on. We asked for our money back and the lady was very nice about it and said it was no problem, we would get our refund within 7-10 days. I received a confirmation email that I would be refunded within the time frame I was told. It was well over the time frame and still no refund. So I called their office to let them know that I haven’t received my refund yet. They said it was processed wrong and to allow another 7-10 days. Ok things happen. I understand. Well again, no refund. I called the establishment and the man on the other end was pretending he couldn’t hear me, saying hello, hello. He hung up on me! I called back and I told him that was a horrible thing to do to someone. This is what’s called bait and switch. You get me to click on something, pay for it and then not deliver what was promised and then steal my money. I have not heard one word back from these people. They took my money and they won’t call me back or refund me! I’m contesting the charge with my credit card company. But I think this is horrible to do to someone! Do not fall for this place!

We stayed here from Sunday to Sunday. They offer a “free style” parking so you can pick your own spot. Coming in Sunday afternoon we had plenty to choose from. During the week the campground was fairy dead, maybe 1/3 full. Once Friday hit it filled right up. We found if we kept our camper cold all day long the electric could keep up, but trying to cool the camper down from hot during the peak of the heat the AC would kick out. But around dinner time it was cool enough to no longer be an issue. I’ve found this typical of older and remote campgrounds. Their electrical grids struggle with all the AC units. As for the campground it was right in line with the pricing (1/3 the price of every other park in the area.) The main facilities were nice and maintained, the secondary bathroom could use a little TLC. Talking with the staff there is normally 2 more bathrooms but due to COVID they aren’t allowed to open them. Overall the staff was polite and helpful given the circumstances. The pool area looked nice and clean, but we preferred to swim in the river instead. The beach was very nice and clean and allowed easy access to the river. The lower levels sites also gave direct access. Most places the water was only a couple feet deep and was nice for children. But there were also deeper holes for the adults to soak in.

This is a great camp ground. My family and I enjoyed swimming in the river, visiting Lake George, and hanging around the camp fire. We have a travel trailer, so I cannot speak for the "glamping tents", but the tents look new. There are plenty of full hookup sites and on the river sites. Sites are generous with room to spare. People in the office were helpful. The only negitive I could give was the fire wood was not seasoned. This was our family's second trip out here in as many years, and we have already started planning for next year.

Overall, a nice campground. The sites are ample size and the staff was friendly during each and every encounter. However, we experienced some issues: the electric kept getting kicked off and someone had to come reset it and "let it cool down." Yesterday, when it kicked off, there was no one at the campground to reset it. We also had water problems as it got turned off and not only were we without electric, but also no water for toilets, showers, etc. There is also no cable or wifi. The lower sites have no sewer. But the river was great to get your feet wet and the dogs loved it. There was plenty of peace and quiet to relax. Just some things to fix.

Very peaceful and rustic looking campground. Decent amenities. It's great that sites have full hookups! Some areas need some updating but everything worked fine for us. It's on the bank of a river so naturally there are mosquitoes. (Deep woods OFF works well for that.)It's a nice retreat away from the nearby commercially over-run Lake George area. We loved our stay and met very nice people too. With so much to do and see in the surrounding area we didn't expect a campground to "entertain" us. While there we enjoyed our campfire, the surrounding pines and relaxing atmosphere! Looking forward to staying here again in the future!!

HORRIBLE!!! STAY AWAY!!! WORST PLACE EVER!!! “Candy” at check in was not only a disgruntled employee, but clearly tainted in life. We got there at 5pm to check in and she said “how did you get site 120?” Then proceeded to say that none of the bathrooms work. “Pee behind your tent” and the site you want has been taken. It’s first come, first serve..”. So we venture out to find what sites are left. Pick one, but the people next door decided they needed they needed the fire ring and table from the site we want. And we’re not going to return it!!! We left and went to Lake George Escapes, which is right up the road and an AWESOME campsite!! Spend the extra money. This place SUX!!!!!

It's a beautiful place to stay at: middle of nowhere feeling, near a river, and 20 minutes from Lake George Village. My only reason for the low rating is the actual experience I had with friends.I was just there for a girl's trip with 5 of my friends. We paid for a deluxe cabin for a few nights. What we got was one of the regular cabins they had available. There are about 6 cabins, and it seems only 2 are deluxe. I saw the pictures advertised on their site: they show the same pictures, which are of the deluxe cabin, for both types of cabins, so you can guess how disappointed we were to find the interior not as promised (also, we found a full bin of trash as soon as we walked in). We called the company after checking with the front desk, but they couldn't upgrade us to the cabin we were promised. It was REALLY cozy for 6 people to share. The living room is about the same size as the bedroom, and we did have a screened-in porch, but only half the size of the deluxe cabin's. A family of 4 would be more comfortable in the regular cabin than 6 20-something old girls. The cabin (we stayed in #73) does have AC and heating in the living room and bedroom. There are also pots, pans, silverware, dishes, a coffee maker, toaster, and some cooking utensils in the kitchen, which includes a full fridge and gas stove. There's also a fire pit outside overlooking the forest and Adirondack backdrop. If you have a tent or an RV, this is the place. This is not high on my list of recommendations for cabins in the Lake George area.

If I could give them 0 stars, I would. A friend had gotten us a cabin at a discount and we were super excited for a long weekend away. We love camping, just don’t have a camper at this present time. About 2 weeks ago, I received notification, that we were going to have to pay full price now because the owner didn’t like the fact they had so many cabins booked under the discounted rate.I am sorry that’s not how you do business. And we won’t be visiting this campground EVER!

Great neighbors, but the facility needs work. The sites are mostly membership sites, so the ones that are left for the public are not the best. Oddly placed, and not every one had a picnic table. The restrooms and showers were atrocious. The floors are filthy, and the walls and fixtures were covered in mold. If you are staying in an RV with your own facilities this wouldn't factor in but the sites and camp are not well maintained at all and the staff for the most part were unpleasant. The saving grace was our neighbors they were friendly, welcoming and everyone looked out for one and another.

I would give Schroon a 5 star, but the electric was an issue. We had to turn off our AC a number of times because the voltage got way too low. Also, it says wifi but the entire campground didn’t have access; I am not positive but I am assuming it was only at the office area. Otherwise, the sites were large which made it nice. The access to the river was handy for putting in our kayaks. I did not enter the bathhouses (2 out of 3 were open), but we did enter one of the cabins-it was clean and pretty well maintained inside. The pool was clean and of course there were good rules in place to limit numbers due to Covid-19. If they would get a bigger transformer to run into the campground it would help the electric issue. From what I understand they have new management so hopefully that issue will be handled SOON.Note- 30 Amp service only but that is even an issue until they update the electrical situation.Add the fact that they say cable and there is none.

We stayed over Memorial Day weekend and the campground was quiet and the river access was nice. Now to the reasons I’ll never return.1. No true reservations. Sites are picked first come first serve. This is not noted anywhere on their website or when making reservations. We were traveling with family and upon arrival the only sites that were left that were side by side were cramped. My in-laws camper was within inches of a tree on one side and the awning was only about two feet from the next sites camper. Their camper has no slides!2. It’s has insufficient power. It was a cool Memorial Day weekend and the power still suffered from low voltage. Thank God for my progressive EMS so nothing was fried. I can’t image what it will be like with camper rubbing their ACs. I could not run an electric water heater and TV without dropping below 106 volt.3. Out of the two sites we had there were no tables and only one fire ring. The fire ring was not an issue but the tables they found were falling apart.4. Bath houses were atrocious. I like to use campground showers since I’m bigger but no way here.

Loaded with mosquitoes!!!!!!! We booked a deluxe RV site only to find out that nothing is deluxe but the mosquitoes! Short staff so the store and office are always closed so you can’t sign in or out, buy wood etc! No cable at any sites in the campground, broken down old picnic tables definitely not a campground that’s been taken care of. Would not recommend and definitely will not go back! They need to spray for mosquitoes and put money into the campground to keep people coming! Very disappointed

This is not an RV resort by any stretch of the imagination. It's a so-so campground where RVs are stacked on top of each other and the ground is dirt and sap that will screw up your rugs, shoes, and just about anything else. Customer service was decent. They worked to get the new washers and dryers installed when I desperately needed them. Campers needing full hookups can't go down by the river view because there's no sewer down there.Overall, it's not a bad place, but it isn't an RV resort, and I wish campgrounds wouldn't call themselves a resort when they lack what I consider "resort" amenities and features.

HUGE disappointment. We made our reservations online 3 months in advance for a deluxe cabin. Checking in on a Thursday and staying for a week. Their reminder emails said check in for cabins was at 3:00 pm . After a 12 hour drive, we arrived at 4:00 pm. No one was at the office and the door was locked. There were 4 phone numbers on the door to call. We called all 4…not one of them answered. We decided to go to our cabin…the door was unlocked so we went in. The cabin wreaked of bleach, but there was nothing deluxe about it. There was no heat. Just a single space heater. Finally, at 5:30 someone called saying Darryl should be there somewhere (Darryl was not one of the people listed on the door) We saw no one. We went back to the office and a lady was there, claiming she was the cleaning lady. She gave us key to the cabin but had no way to access the computer to check us in. We asked if we could buy a bundle of firewood since it was freezing in the cabin. She said she had no access to the computer. We proceeded to put money on the counter and took a bundle. We stayed the night but were so disgusted by the filth of the cabin and we were cold. We went into the nearest town, Bolton Landing, and booked a hotel for the rest of week. We will never be back. When we told them we were leaving ( on Saturday bc no one was in the office Friday either) they didn’t seem to care at all. BEWARE!!! We heard from a guest that the campground is under new ownership. Oh by the way, the river was down a very steep ravine that was completely roped off. No access. Photos below show filth and missing lightbulbs (probably to hide the filth)

The owners here are wonderful. We backed into a gate and they offered wonderful advice, a smile and some duck tape. We were treated like family. The resort itself is great, all along the river and close to many great attractions. We went to Bear Slides, a great hiking trail with natural waterslides- kids loved it! Also enjoyed a smaller beach in Bolton Landing . Bring tubes to float down the river!

Over all this was a nice campground. We were there for Memorial Day weekend. We were told that the sites were “first come, first serve”. We paid from Wednesday to Monday, parked the camper in a site but couldn’t stay overnight til Friday. (Essential workers) The camp “security” guy gave us a hard time because the rules are “you must stay overnight and if you don’t then you have 24 hours to leave the campground.” Thankfully there was a woman there that backed me and said that there was 25 other campers that dropped their campers too. I paid prior to checking in(online). This guy was so rude about my payment and wanted to see a receipt, which I had. Not to mention we paid full price and none of the extras were available due to COVID. As we were leaving, he was waving bye sarcastically as people were pulling out. My suggestion, get rid of that guy and if all you want is seasonal campers then advertise as so.

My wife and I were traveling on our motorcycle so we decided to book their luxury glamping tent. We thought it would be perfect due to the lack of storage on the bike. We've stayed there a couple of times with our RV in the past. We noticed that the website said they wouldn't be supplying linens due to Covid so I called to confirm. She said they would do go ahead and book it... so we did. I called to confirm again and now she said due to lack of staff to do laundry so they were back to not supplying linens. I said so you're willing to lose a $500 reservation because won't supply a couple of pillows and sheets... she said yup..Bad business practices. Sad because we've enjoyed ourselves there last time.Time to find another campground.
