We went in for the first time, just to see what deals they might have, to see if we should change up our shopping routine. We normally do our shopping at Walmart and Aldi stores. The prices at Grand Union are ridiculous. Examples: Helmans mayo, 30 oz jar: $6.99. I pay $5.48-$5.98. V8 juice: $4.99. I pay $3.54 for the same 46 oz. Bottle. Stuffing mix, 6 oz. Store brand: $2.39. I pay $0.89-0.97. How do families survive paying those kinds of prices for their weekly shopping? I will say that the place is very clean and well organized. The employees seem friendly and were quite helpful, even though we didn't buy anything today.

Prices are high. Prices are good only if ygey are on sale and compared to other stores. (Pick and choose). Some of the staff aren't as friendly as they should be.

Just stopped at Grand Union in Cortland to pick up a few things. Don’t shop here very much. Since Tops left prices at GU have gone way up!!Walked out with less than half a bag of groceries, no meat, just short of $40.!Won’t go back…..

What can I say, I miss Tops. Prices here started out very high and so we stopped shopping here. Seems like now they've come down a bit since they've opened; more in line now with the local competition, but I still feel like this place should be nicer, it feels almost abandoned at times.

Well they did have what appeared to be sale ites, yet to me it was a bait and switch. The items in the flyer and online. Were intact the same brand, not the same size/quantity as said sale items not really a deal. One sale item boguo, was the exact price of 2! Therefore it truly wasn't a bogo disappointing. Non the less we found some deals, I'll check them out again, keeping in mind things arent always what they appear to be. As always the stor and employees were 10 for 10 as far as friendliness clean and well organized.

Pretty much still Tops but with the Grand Union logo and their own generic name brand. Produce, meat department and in-store bakery are excellent. Staff thus far have been very friendly and the shelves well stocked (with the occasional exception). Self check out works smoothly. Some of the prices are definitely too high, especially compared to their local competitors. Still a nice place to shop.

I got there at 855 and they were locking the doors. There were employees standing right there watching me in the rain. And yes I would have been in and out in under the 5 minutes they had advertised hours. Maybe if I hadn't walked almost a mile in the rain to get there I wouldn't be so angry. Or maybe you should just stay open until 9 as advertised.

Really great bread from their bakery but in general, really pricy. Compare $4.99/lb for grass-fed beef @ Price Chopper vs $11.99/lb at Grand Union.

It is not the best stocked grocery store and the prices are a lot higher than others. But the staff is friendly, the bakery and meat department are fantastic, and it's clean.

Not bad great quality of goods clean carts are brand new plenty of parking off of Route 281 convenience at its best next door. They have a beauty salon, pet store, fast food, and much much more so if you’d like to grocery shop and shop around. This is the place for you. I was even able to get all my ingredients for my calzones and these ingredients help me make my homemade dough.

Way too expensive here. When top's was here, it wasn't too bad. Now as soon as they opened, the prices went way high. You can tell by the parking lot not being as full as when top's was here.

Sometimes I think... and hear me out, I know it's crazy.... but just MAYBE they could bring their prices down JUST A LITTLE BIT. I mean are you serious. The sad part is that I know this isn't new information and everyone knows what a ridiculous rip-off this store is. But I still go there, because they have good produce and some items other stores don't have

I stopped here for the first time because I was in a pinch however, I'd rather pinch my pennies and take the time to drive down the street to another store next time. This store in my opinion is just Tops with the prices increased. I reached for my tried and true loaf of bread which is not currently more than about $2.50 at Walmart or Dollar General. I put it right back on the shelf when I saw that at GU the same exact bread was around $4.75. This is the case throughout the store. Signs with 30 pt font seem to be everywhere proudly touting their "sales" which are just mark downs of their mark ups. I get that these are unusual times however, I just can't see the justification. There are fancy new carts to put your overpriced in groceries though.I feel that this store is not going to last very long unless something changes. I would not shop here again and I don't see why anyone would. There isn't anything here that you can't get at Aldi or basically any other competitor at a much better price. The only good thing about the experience was that there was a very nice young man working at the self checkout.

They bought out Tops and inherited the prices. Way more expensive than any other store. Just a handful of customers and tons of employees standing around not doing anything. Will not shop there.

I miss tops markets.... Grand union closes at 9pm but online it says 10,pm can anyone explain this or fix the error

This store price gouges. Buy one get one free my butt! Ice cream was double priced. Their "price" for one was more than twice it's competitions. Everything else is higher priced. Won't be back

Not a very clean store, produce usually either covered with fruit flies or rotting. Meats are a no buy... But I do appreciate the fact that they give our younger ones and employment opportunity that most places don't offer or young (highschool) school age people looking for employment

Still adjusting to the transition away from Tops shopping center, prices and lack of availability of bulk items makes Grand Union a once in a while grocery stop. However, their pick five for $25 meats and hot food orders are also worth the trip!

Prices are high even with "savings " plan. Prices ring up wrong all the time. Charged twice for the same item but didn't notice until I got home. Loved Tops because it's close to home but will travel to shop now.

Well for starters, it stinks inflation hit when GU opened. For all you Aldi shoppers, I've been told their prices are high too. ITS EVERYWHERE. Second, the carts are lined up between main entrances at night because WE HAVE SO MANY THEFTS, so you have to enter through the U-Scan so we can see and make eye contact with all who enters so you know we see you. It's not to keep customers out, it's to keep thieves from leaving WITH UNPAID MERCHANDISE. If you have a big bag that didn't look as big when you entered hmmm. If your gonna try to make a quick exit with a cart full, harder to do that when the carts are up. I don't think reusable bags should be allowed for shopping, only to bag paid for products. Third, for all the Tops customers who complained about the U-Scan being slow, THAT WAS FOR SECURITY REASONS. Now it's faster scanning so easier shoplifting, but now you complain about the payment system, LISTEN and FOLLOW the prompts on the main screen before you stick that card in the pin pad, and WAIT FOR A RECEIPT. AND NO WE'RE NOT WALMART, THANK GOODNESS. If your so mad cause we're not Tops anymore, get over it, cause it's gonna happen to the rest of them too. Take it up with Tops corporate, not the store employees. For the people who are giving GU a bad review, BE APPRECIATIVE YOU STILL HAVE A CHOICE TO STOP THERE, THERE'S STILL A GROCERY STORE THERE. We did have a family buying dragon fruit at GU and comment 'these are 9.99 at Wegmans', at the time they were 4.99 at GU. It can be anything anywhere's, prices are crazy everywhere. Lay off of GU. Is there anybody not aware that minimum wage is $13.20...!!! Did you not expect prices to increase? Wake up.

Prices are way too high. Cashier took forever to ring me out for two items because she didn’t understand their computer system. I’ll stick with Aldi’s speedy service and reasonable price.(Don’t bother responding to me GU)
