beautiful farm property in upstate new york with lovely hiking trails and farm animals! if you're looking for a place to camp where you can wander in the forest and also still be close to the capital region and the catskills, look no further! :) they have an epic vegetable garden, make their own maple syrup, grow their own mushrooms and have angora goats, a sweet horse, donkeys and the cutest dogs. the forest trails are really lovely, tons of native species and wild mushrooms to enjoy. highly recommend!! :)

Why rent a petting zoo when you stay at an organic farm! That was our thought and it worked out beautifully!I can not rave enough about our experience and we went way too early in the season! We are big seclusion campers, and truly enjoyed the giant camp site with not a single other camper within ear or eye sight. I can't say smell, because the farm dog knew exactly where everyone was and when dinner started!It was such an ease to book and just pull up. Didn't need to talk to anyone or check in. So nice!After we hiked the Katterskills and stopped at Rip Van winkle brewery , we headed to camp. With everything still in early early spring, it's wasnt nearly as beautiful as it soon will be. We are excited to come back in a month. We were so tired Friday night we missed the animals. But they checked in with us in the morning and we were blessed to spend the a.m. feeding all sorts of animals!The kids could not have had a better time!Jay was very informative and shared some great tips. Looking forward to learning more about the mushrooms in the fall. They have houses available for Airb&b , and a Nice cabin that you need to get 2months In advance on weekends, so check it out soon. They also have a Yurt on site for more glamping.The animals are loved and very playful for farm animals. Beautiful and easy to access , making it really nice to be able to drive thru as you head to camp and still see everything. This is a must do for those seeking real life experiences.

I volunteered at magic forest farm for a summer and have come back periodically to visit in all four seasons- it’s a beautiful place, and Joan and jay are awesome hosts/farmers, who have always focused on how they can sustainably build their farm and community. The farm has so much to offer- private camping grounds and alternative dwellings, friendly farm animals, miles of private trails and if you’re lucky enough to catch Joan or jay in between them working on one of their many projects they have a wealth of knowledge on organic and sustainable farming, mushroom foraging, eco friendly/alternative construction and much more. The magic forest farm is great and I would recommend a visit to anyone!

The magic forest farm is awesome. They have great, private campgrounds, our hosts were very welcoming, and there was even live music! They also have their own private trails through the woods which are so beautiful. Will be visiting again

I had such an amazing time at there farm!! They rent out there cabins and apartments on air bnb and i highly recommend!!!! Not only was it a nice cozy place to stay, there amazing dogs were there to great us with lots of tail wags and great manners!!!! ( they are so well behaved!!! No jumping or excessive barking!)... all in all if your looking for a great spot to get away from all the chaos life throws at you look them up on air bnb and make your reservation you wont regret it!!!

What a wonderFULL experience at this beautiful oasis just 30 mins from Albany, NY! So much to explore and take in, secluded camping, unique stays like the yurt and tipi, friendly volunteers and Jason and Joan, the owners, are just amazing! I highly recommend for a quick getaway, longer stay, solo or group! There’s something for everyone :)

A perfectly serene place for a weekend camping trip, a romantic getaway, an educational family day trip, or a fantastic place to volunteer and REALLY learn alot! Jason and Joan are both incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, creative and it shows! Nearby nature preserves, lakes and other large mountains make Magic Forest Farm a perfect home base for adventuring on the property and in the surrounding area. Cannot recommend high enough.. tell em' bobby sent you ;)

Very cool place with awesome people. Off the main drag, tucked away on the side of a mountain in the forest. Farm animals a bonus. Get back to nature if only for a weekend. This is the place to do that!

We stayed in the Purple Palace house, it was an absolute treat. Jason, Joan, and the staff were accommodating, professional, and very thoughtful to our needs. We enjoyed the grounds, the animals, and the ability to enjoy a working farm...So sweet to see the flocks of ducks leaving and returning to their coop. The goats grazing along the pond. Peacocks hanging out where they want. Generally, it was a decompressing experience to take in the vibes of content animals, a healthy forest, and the views!!!The house was clean! The beds comfortable, and so cozy. We were there during Summer so we didn't have an excuse to cozy up to the fireplace with a good book. It was so refreshing to enjoy a home away from home in the country (the one you wish you had!). I'm so envious of the volunteers who come to stay and learn what it takes to live off the land. It was a fascinating place to stay and I only wish I could go back frequently, but its a long commute from Los Angeles. Jason and Joan made our New York experience very special. Its clear their relationship with the land is born from hard work, and devotion to their ongoing project, The Magic Forest Farm! I hope they will realize their vision! Thank you Jason and Joan!

Beautiful Farm! Beautiful property! Stayed in the Yurt for two nights and stayed in the Tipi for one night! Both were lovely! My husband and I loved walking on the trail! We loved making a fire every night! Both areas are secluded! We enjoyed hearing the donkeys and rooster! We enjoyed hearing the sounds of nature and looking at the mountains! You will enjoy this place!

A private farm on a mountaintop, MFF is a woodland playground for those who like to camp, hike and explore. The animals are fun to see and the hosts actually work the farm; you can see their portable mill, maple sugaring station or spinning and weaving room, among other activities. Imaginative design elements add grace to the rustic facilities at this free-wheeling community oriented get away.

Kind and helpful folks here. Pretty! Well-kept, rustic camp sites. Everyone here is very friendly, kid-friendly too. It's Labor Day weekend, and I've seen maybe 1 or 2 mosquitos. Clean air, plenty of firewood. Hannaford grocery is about 7 miles away, next to a liquor store--it's a good idea to bring groceries with you, or designate one person to set up camp while the other makes grocery/drinks run. We will be returning!

This is the best place on earth - beautiful scenery, wonderful people. Campsites are private, they have a yurt, a tipi and more - so many private places to stay in a peaceful, quiet spot. Highly recommended!

Beautiful place in the woods, and a wonderful woodfire maple syrup. After discovering their syrup on a farmer's market last year, we called to visit the farm on our next trip. We live in France and were very excited to discover the farm. Welcomed by the cute dog who wanted to play. The owners, however, were less than friendly : he made us wait on the parking lot while he got the syrup, had no explaination about the farm or the syrup, just the total price. Syrup is delicious, but human experience tasted more bitter. We expected more from a farm that advertise itself as such a hippie place. Maybe we interupted something... Sorry 🙏

Worst stay possible. This is the most trashy & disgusting property I have ever visited. Jason is extremely rude, condescending and misogynistic. He has quite a nasty attitude and should not be working in any type of customer service. Do not...I repeat DO NOT stay or support this business. There are many other places to stay that have class and decorum, where you won't get bed bugs.

Seems good for adults, but NOT toddler friendly. As soon as we got out of our car an aggressive rooster attacked our son. Disappointing to say the least, because their website said “kid friendly” Maybe older kids?

we decided to stay here for 3 days and although everything was as advertised certain functions was not up to par for instance our first night there we discovered the water utilities barely had hot water to begin with (and barely had when we left) which is shocking cause judging from the reviews i figured everything was up to standard so besides that everything else was beautiful.
