This Clayton gem is a wonderful place to stay.. clean updated rooms. Each room with a theme. The owner, Pia, is the hostess with the most! The location is perfect. Walking to the "strip" and all the shops and restaurants. The patio area feels like you your away from it all. Super relaxing. We have been back several times, and will be back several more. Clayton gained a superb establishment when Pia took over!

We had a great stay here at the Wooden Boat Inn. We stayed in the Viking Room which was nicely decorated. The linens were clean, and the bed was comfortable. Pia made it super easy with check-in and check-out both being contactless. The location is excellent since you can walk to restaurants, shopping on James St., and the marina. Thanks for a nice experience!

We had a wonderful stay here. Pia, the owner, was incredibly helpful to complete our booking over phone on 4th of July because I didn’t have enough cell reception to do it online. We stayed in the green room, which was adorable and cozy. The back patio area with grills was perfect for having dinner. Great location too, you can walk to the river, restaurants, ice cream, all within 5-10 min. If we are ever in Clayton again, we would definitely stay here!

My wife and I had one of the best times the night we stayed here. We met PIA and hit it off wonderfully. She took the time to sit with us and we exchanged in some great conversation and by the end of the day we are great friends. We booked another weekend at the end of September and we are planning to stay a full week next year..Walkability: It's a nice little walk to town and we enjoyed it.

I could not recommend this place more! My mom and I spent a couple nights here and it was the perfect stay. The places are newly done and stunning! Pia (the owner) showed us the other rooms that didn’t have guests and they were all beautifully decorated and had their own themes. There’s even and outdoor space with a fire pit that is decorated warmly and welcoming. Pia’s hospitality was next level and we would recommend this place to anyone stopping in Clayton. We would stay here again and actually have plans to visit Clayton just to stay at the property. Thank you Pia!!

This is a great boutique motel for those exploring Clayton! The rooms are individually designed with themes such as honeycomb or jungle green or even a replica of Shitts Creek!! The owner was great service and really put her heart and soul into it. Very nice for couples or quiet singles. Coffee nook by the firepit was great and you can play badminton in the evening! Ac worked wonderfully. Bed was a little hard if I had to give it some critique. But if youre walking and boating youll be asleep in minutes. Support local!

The room, while small, was neat, nicely decorated and well laid out with all the essentials. It reminded me of being in a boat stateroom. I loved the whimsical honey comb theme. The lady proprietor was very nice and engaging. The room even has a record player and records for a nostalgic experience.Nearby activities: Boat Museum, also a quaint and pretty town to walk in.Walkability: A brewery and the Antique Boat Museum within walking distance.

Great little place, especially for a couple who don't plan on spending much time in the room. The rooms are clean and comfortable and I'm sitting in a recliner in our room as I write this.. The owners, Bernie and Valerie, are extremely gracious and make you feel like family. The town of Clayton is great and the residents very friendly. The surrounding area has a lot to offer. Would love to come back and stay here anytime.

Had a great stay at the Inn. The place was charming and I was pleasantly surprised by the charm of the Inn, It is very clean and comfortable, a welcome change from chain hotels!!! I will definitely stay here again and recommend to others.Walkability: The Inn is a short walk to downtown Clayton and the river.....would be a problem for mobility challenged individuals. It worked out great for us at it was a nice walk downtown....would not be discouraged by it if you like a short walk.

My husband and I are new to the area and decide to check out Clayton for a staycation. The owners, Bernie and Valerie were a wealth of information about the area. Hotel is walking distance from the delicious restaurants and shops in downtown Clayton. The rooms are clean and shared amenities are thoughtful. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We were on our way home from Wellesley Island and decided to stay the night in Clayton. But where? Lots of little motels. We rolled the dice and checked out the Wooden Boat Inn. Score! We rented the house cause that’s all they had left (popular place apparently). We were not disappointed. Very clean, modern with that river decor that has the cozy look, and well stocked with everything you need. Very close to restaurants and attractions down in the town. The boat house is just down around the corner which has excellent food. The Inn has a lovely private patio area with a fireplace and a huge tree that sheds everything. This place is a gem!

This place is wonderful! We had such a great stay - it’s very well kept, clean and very relaxing. There’s a guest kitchen with coffee and a great back patio that we were able to enjoy. It’s only a block away from the Wood Boat Brewery and the antique boat museum. Just about a block from those locations is the ‘main’ street of Clayton, which has a variety of restaurants, great shops and a local winery’s shop. It’s a great location and everything downtown is within walking distance. Berny was great; when we arrived he took the time to tell us the ‘must go to’ places and even marked them out on a map. You can tell they really take pride in this place and the town. This is a stay and trip that we will always remember!

Nice little inn - clean and well-appointed rooms. The bathroom and shower were very compact but fine for just a couple nights (and fine for the price). Walking distance to several restaurants - I recommend the Wood Boat Brewery for brick oven pizza. Great base for exploring the Thousand Islands area. I also recommend an evening wine cruise with Coyote Moon winery.

It's a great little place that was upconverted. The only thing preventing me from giving it a full 5 stars is that we had to bring our own box fan in as the AC in our room (room 6?) was by the little hall by the bathroom and didn't circulate as easily throughout the room. Room 4 looked like it also may be a bit noisy because it is by the guests' supplies closet (which is great that there's one though!) but we did not stay there so I cannot comment. That all said it was a nice little place and I'd recommend it, just maybe bring a fan if it's gonna be hot.

I stayed at the wooden boat motel several time in the last 3 years, but I won't be staying there any more. Each time I stayed it was 5 or 6 nights. The rooms are nice enough for the price, but the bath room and shower stall are very small. I made a reservation in January for a week in June and payed 197.14 deposit. In June I had to cancel a week before my arrival time. According to the cancellation policy that accompanied the reservation confirmation email, If I cancelled less than 30 days before my arrival date I would lose the deposit. I was fine with that because it was less than 30 days. However, Berni charged a second deposit of 197.14 so now I am out $394.28 and Berni's answer was that he could charge me for the entire week but he said he could rent it on Friday so he was ONLY charging me the $394.28. I sent all the email correspondence emails to my credit card company and after a review they took The second $197.14 back from the motel and gave me a credit on my bill. Sooooooooooooo if you make a reservation be careful and get the cancellation policy in print first, because some time thing change after you pay your deposit. THIS IS A FOLLOWUP<<< In July he returned $197.14 to my card,, Thank You

Rooms were very neat and clean. WiFi and very decent Direct TV or Dish satellite tv included, I'm not sure which. There is a fire pit and a kitchen for keeping food in the fridge, a microwave, and K-cups for coffee. The rooms were cleaned while we were away too. It is a couple blocked from downtown Clayton, so very walkable.

Even though there aren't any frills; like a pool or continental breakfast, it was still a pleasant experience staying at this inn. It was in a quiet neighborhood and the room was very clean. The proprietors and staff were very friendly and helpful with my travel plans.

Comfortable, convenient, and friendlyThe Wooden Boat Inn is comfortable, pleasant, and a quick walk to most of Clayton's attractions. Berny is very friendly and helpful, as well. If you're looking for a motel-style inn with all the basic amenities, then you should look here.

Neat and cute motor lodge with rooms with preserved retro 1950's details. The owners could not be any nicer, friendly and polite and the wood boat museum (and Brewery) are only a block away.

I reserved a room with them for this weekend but had to cancel my trip. They have had their phone off the last three days and have charged me the full price of the room even though I never checked into the facility and have yet to hear from them as I have left several messages. Very disappointing.

I give this place a 5 star because for the price, the beds are relatively comfortable, owners are very hospitable and accommodating, very clean and maintained, nicely decorated, and basically everything you really need for a good stay.
